DARK COURT | THE PLOT SYSTEM

What is the Plot System?

The Dark Court's plot system is a flexible framework that keeps the faction's storytelling organized, engaging, and open to everyone. This system ensures there's always something to write—whether you want to dive into high-stakes, galaxy-shaping missions or focus on smaller, character-driven arcs—while keeping all stories connected to the Court's overarching influence and goals.

So, what plots are there?

The Dark Court runs on two parallel systems for storytelling: Active Plots and Personal Plots. Active Plots are large-scale faction storylines overseen by the Dark Lady herself. They represent major operations, campaigns, or objectives that push the Court's agenda forward in a significant way. These plots are open to all members, encouraging widespread participation and collaboration. Taking part in an Active Plot not only helps shape the faction's overarching narrative, but may also earn your character unique rewards—such as resources, information, or increased influence within the Court. While Active Plots are ultimately chosen and approved by the Dark Lady, all members are encouraged to suggest ideas that might be developed into future faction-wide objectives.

Personal Plots, on the other hand, are player-driven storylines that originate from individual characters. These can be anything from an assassination contract to a political coup, a smuggling operation, or a slow-burn corruption arc. Any member can propose and run a Personal Plot, and they have full creative control over how it unfolds—provided it stays within faction rules and doesn't contradict ongoing Active Plots. Other members are free to join Personal Plots if invited, allowing for more intimate, character-focused storytelling alongside the larger faction campaigns. These plots will also earn your characters unique rewards if completed.

This dual system ensures there's always something to write, no matter your style or schedule. If you want to help shape the grand direction of the Dark Court, Active Plots give you the chance to be part of sweeping, consequential operations. If you prefer more self-contained or experimental stories, Personal Plots let you develop your own subplots and character arcs at your own pace. Together, they keep the faction's narrative both unified and flexible—allowing everyone to contribute meaningfully to the Dark Court's ever-growing shadow across the galaxy.
