Designed in house by Damoriann to replace the expensive Halcyon they worked to make deals for. The Damorian SLAM is built as a duel system with the solar panels designed to collect energy to store for the accelerator booster able to double the speed of the ships it is used on. Unlike the overdrive banks of the star destroyers that charged weapons it does not.

Nor does it draw as much energy from ship weapons having a second power source. The work on the slam from Damorian is to make it smaller and more compacted to fit in starfighters or capital ships increasing in size as needed with the amount of panels used increasing. The smallest is designed for a small fighter or airspeeder of sufficient size.

In starfighters and speeders without access to using the solar panels a secondary power cell and energy recycler are generally used to create small bursts of accelerated speed over using the power until it is drained. Isis has worked with the Halcyon style reactors for their swift class and the Rac to hopefully make a likable product that sells.

but it should be noted that the total quantity of energy (maximum) is not going to be enough of a boost for a starship at say, an earth distance for a solar star. The total energy output of vessels in cannon is just too high, even with the theoretical max efficiency of a solar power.

Solar energy, in canon, is always used as an assist for reactors and such, it isn't going to be comparable to an actual SLAM drive, not on the scale you're requesting here - and most certainly not at mass production.

SLAM drives themselves are a rarity in the SW universe, where canon is concerned, and relatively expensive and pretty experimental.

Then correct your erroneous description, which states it does exactly the same output without any of the downsides. If you wish to keep it the way it is, I will need 30 posts of development.

Via the site search function, there's no SLAM drive submitted I have been able to locate.

Additional there is no real reference them being rare or experimental reading the articles with Slam's being on K-Wings an alternative to the B-Wing in legends canon.

SLAM drives were used on the Missile Boat, and later the K-Wing, not once were they used by B-Wings in either legends or current canon. Their introduction, via the Missile Boat, describes them as being an experimental, innovative, piece of technology, with the missile boat being described as "advanced", and the description in its article fits.

Halcyon booster has already been used in a mass produced ship from damorian so they have the ability to make it.

A Halcyon Booster is not described as or listed as a SLAM drive. A SLAM can double sublight speed, a booster only aids in acceleration or adds a secondary acceleration on top of the primary acceleration. They are two different things.

Again, production will have to change or development will have to be introduced - if this is to remain a SLAM. (i.e; 10 for mass production)

Please provide definite numbers for the speed increase and the drop in maneuverability. These numbers need to be different between capital and small ships and for the duration of the speed by increase by having a time limit and definite numbers it is on par with others in the factory.

There are several major problems with this granting a +(or really -)3 to Speed, regardless of any downside to maneuverability. I'm going to go ahead and pull up the Starship speed chart so we can see why that is.

As we can see here, the entire Starfighter(1-50m) speed range is from 1 to 6, with the average starfighter falling in between 2 and 4. If you were to increase its speed by pulling it down 3, you would have an average of -1 to 1. Obviously the speed rating only goes down to 0, and 0 being infinite speed. What this would do would be effectively make every starfighter with an average speed of 3 that has this equipped faster than pretty much every other ship on the board. Development or no development, I'm not approving this with a +3 flat bonus to starships.

You can have an interchangeable change of -2 Speed/+2 Maneuverability (that means your ships would go from, say, 3 to 1 speed with a penalty of going from 3 to 5 for maneuverability), but -3 to speed is too much. And that would need to be across all starships.

Regarding the vehicle thing, we don't do speed ratings for vehicles we actually utilize real KM/H measurements, so you can give a % boost, like say 50% to go from driving a 300 km/h speeder to driving it at 450 km/h temporarily.
