THIS ITEM IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR SECOND CHANCE
Diplomacy Assistance Monitor Unit
Intent: An innovative addition to Crescentia Industries' product lineup. Intended to assist in diplomacy, no matter how aggressive or sensitive.

Development Thread: None, unless required.

Manufacturer: Crescentia Industries' Manufacturing Plant

Model: DU-01

Affiliation: Crescentia Industries

Modularity: No

Production: Limited. Obtained only through Crescentia Industries. PCs need to make a purchase request post in my Marketplace thread for both PCs and NPCs.

Material: Data Package (Microchip electronics, durasteel)

Source: Based off of the CASIE aug from Deus Ex Human Revolution, but functions differently.

Description: Ever seen that one holoflick, "Lie To Me"? The premise of the show involves a protagonist detective who catches the truth out of criminals by reading their body language and reactions to figure out what they're thinking; whether or not they're telling the truth. At Crescentia, we want to provide you with that same opportunity.

The D.A.M.U. (Diplomacy Assistance Monitor Unit) is an upgrade that can only be used in conjunction with a brain implant. This data upgrade package comes equipped to provide the user with the knowledge of many different types of body language and reaction movements across almost all known sentient species. When the user uses the software and spots their target, the package utilizes the brain implant's built-in recognition software to take note. Upon taking in the target's actions, be it sweating indoors or shifting their eyes, to name a couple, a list of possible outcomes will become available for the user to peruse through.

The outcomes they may receive include, but are not limited to, Nervous, Thinking, Angry, Sad, Depressed, Lie, Truth, etc. Product Testing proudly surpassed the success parameters of 95%. As such, like any lie detector, there is bound to be a loophole. An experienced liar could fool the system. The listed outcomes are possibilities, not hard facts. A projected outcome, such as sweating indoors, could lead to a wrong assumption, since the projection software is not aware of the temperature in the room. For this example, the data package assumes sweating indoors is occurring because of nervousness. However, it could very well be that the room is simply not air conditioned. As such, the user will still need to come to his/her/it's own logical conclusion through their own accord. Projected outcomes are stored sequentially throughout the day in data memory, so it will help lead to memory storage problems in your brain implant's data bank, leading to a slight increase in memory wipe and/or transfer frequency.

Strengths:
  • Comprehensive source of body language/reading information. Helps you to "read" people and gain additional social information on targets.

Weaknesses:
  • Not 100% guaranteed to work.
  • Outlying variables can throw readings off.
  • General descriptive words are used instead of fully comprehensive outcomes.

If it gets approved, good. If there's a problem that has to be sorted out before second approval, then just archive this submission. I'm going on LOA.

There nothing to sort out before second approval.

Main issue was that the original was a complete rip from the copyrighted version from the video game that you're "basing" this off of. You were told it wouldn't be up for second chance and to actually do what you wanted to do you needed to come up with a whole new concept. When you base things off things that are from video games and the like its a "loose" representation. This is just one or two changes and even then its concept and functionality is from the game. I understand that we're all fans of something and we want to use them in other games that we play, but there needs to be some difference and people reading this shouldn't automatically go "this is from deus ex or this is from halo." Just like creating characters with names of characters from other franchises, you are allowed the name and a pic but you can't have the complete background overhaul.

To be honest I would have let this go, but the fact that you were told that there was no option for second chance and the item was denied, then you decided to just rename it. This can be viewed as attempting to mislead factory staff. This is something that isn't tolerated. Again this item will be denied and not available for second chance. You may attempt to rewrite it, but please make it far from both these submissions and the original in which you are basing things off of.
