STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
+TO THE END OF THE UNIVERSE: Somewhat of a heroic figure, Admiral Drakon inspires fierce and zealous loyalty among all of his subordinates. In any situation where the Lord High Admiral's ship is present, naval morale will be virtually unbreakable, and even the lowliest crewman will be willing to follow the Admiral wherever he may lead.
+DRAGON OF THE STARS: While he would never let you say it around him, Admiral Drakon certainly qualifies for "tactical genius" status. Honed by years of pirate-hunting and general spacing, his plans prove to be masterfully intricate and robust, with victory almost a certainty.
~A SPACER'S MOUTH: Cyrus Drakon cut his teeth as a spacer, and even as a nobleman and government official, he's never let go of his time spent among the working man. While the upper echelons of society may find Lord High Admiral Drakon to be "uncouth" and "crass", the Admiral's plain talk and gleeful disregard for upper-class norms have made him a bit of a folk hero not only to the Cerulean Navy, but to the lower classes of the Imperium as a whole. Also he curses la whole fraggin' lot.
~SOFT IN MY OLD AGE: Despite his rugged persona, Drakon is a deeply compassionate and empathetic person. He is thoroughly committed to getting as many of his men out of a battle alive as possible, and will never make careless sacrifices with sentient life. While this has only furthered his heroic reputation and pushed him to greater tactical rigor, Admiral Drakon's compassion is one of his most exploitable flaws.
-NEVER SWING FIRST: Simply put, Drakon is a defensive fighter, and even as an attacker he'll play out his actions very cautiously and carefully. He relies heavily on his grand battleplan, and while he can improvise, he's nowhere near as good at it.
-ONE EYE IS GOOD ENOUGH: Drakon is stubborn and proud of it. Once he commits to something, it takes an extreme effort to get him to even slightly reconsider, even if he knows he's wrong.
APPEARANCE: A tall, relatively fit old man, Admiral Drakon has the appearance of a grizzled veteran. His official uniform consists of an impressive blue-grey goat with fur trim and armored pauldrons with a finely tailored black-and-gold suit underneath, as well as a matching blue-grey beret. Other accessories include a patch to cover his one missing eye, and some form of tabac implement in his mouth, usually either a cigar or pipe (The Admiral does not take kindly to being told where he can and cannot smoke). Overall he shows his age, with his skin having the wrinkles and sags of a man over the hump, and there's a sort of haggard character to his appearance which comes out when stressed. Of course, in almost an other situation, Admiral Drakon will have the enthusiasm and energy of a man half his age, walking with a lively spring in his step.
BIOGRAPHY: Born as the heir apparent of the powerful and influential House Drakon, young Cyrus was a rash and hot-headed youth, considerably ambitious in his background. Even from his early childhood, Cyrus wanted to leave the entrapping gravity of Zernia for the stars above. He knew his destiny awaited him in space. After going through the formal education, Cyrus immediately raised as much funds as he can, bought himself a large bulk freighter, and became an independent merchant captain. Moving goods all around the galaxy, Cyrus downplayed his noble origins and treated his employees as equals. An eagerness to learn through practice proved beneficial to Cyrus, and very quickly he built up a small mercantile fleet. Cyrus, already called the Admiral by his confidantes, not only mastered the logistics of space travel, but soon learned very quickly how to deal with pirates and raiders in the lawless chaos of the time. Cyrus looks back on these adventures as the prime of his life, when he was a daring young lad afraid of nothing and no one. Some say the reason why he refuses to replace his missing eye with cybernetics is that he sees the wound as a trophy from his youth.
When a more middle-aged Cyrus Drakon returned to Zernia following the death of his father, he immediately repurposed his private fleet into the Imperium's Cerulean Navy as a Procurator. And right from the onset, there was drama. Drakon's brilliant and revolutionary anti-pirate tactics helped lock down the Azure Imperium as one of the safest parts of the galaxy to do business. Drakon was quickly being groomed to be the Praefectus Classis, head of the entire Ceruelan Navy. But the appointment made many uneasy. In Drakon's time outside the Imperium he had become accustomed to more secular, basic ways. Drakon became a hero to the Imperium's Futurist movement, as he vowed to rapidly modernize the Navy. Already, Drakon had stirred up a scandal when he repeatedly referred to himself as an "Admiral" rather than a Procurator. To make matters worse, he referred to his new position as "Grand High Admiral" rather than Praefectus Classis. Other nobles were scandalized, even other members of House Drakon. To make matters worse, Drakon had no love for the trappings of aristocracy. He saw himself as self-made, and was ostentatious and grand in his wealth rather than refined and classical. And of course, he drank, smoked, and swore like a fraggin' sailor.
Needless to say, this presented a tremendous political obstacle to Drakon, but he persisted nonetheless, continuing to work with the shipyards on Zernia to design new classes of ships. Even if he was faced with obstacles towards formally restructuring the Navy, he could still modernize the fleet on a technical level. And these new designs were incredibly popular, advancing his career. Soon, it became almost impossible to deny his mastery, and by the considerably young age of 52, Cyrus Drakon was declared to be the new Praefectus Classis, much to the objections of his peers. Now in a position of power, the self-appointed Grand High Admiral is prepared to revolutionize the Cerulean Navy and lead it to a new era of Imperial Greatness.
