Intent: To create a simple but robust battle droid for sale on the open market

Development Thread: NA
Manufacturer: Mandal Hypernautics
Model: Cyclops Battle Droid
Affiliation: Open Market
Modularity: None
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Durasteel, Duraplast, other materials.

Description:
Equipped with long arms and dextrous hands, the Cyclops Battle Droid is capable of using nearly any standard or heavy weapon produced for a wide range of species. Produced and sold with a complementary Heavy Blaster Rifle, the Droid is ready for combat upon delivery, no additional parts needed. The owner can opt to equip it with his or her own custom supply of weapons and the droid will be able to use the weapon reasonably well, getting better accuracy and efficiency as the droid gets practice firing the unfamiliar weapon. Similarly, if the droid is on the battlefield and runs out of ammo, the droid is capable of picking up the discarded weapons of the enemy and using them after firing the weapon a few times to calibrate its aim. Equipped with a wide range of sensors in the head unit, the Droid is capable of hearing and smelling slightly better than a human, as well as having the ability to detect electrical activity within a short radius. The optics for the Droid include thermal, night vision, and movement detecting enhancements as well as a powerful 18x zoom.

While it appears bulky and clumsy, the droid is actually quite agile thanks to its uniquely designed legs and system of internal gyroscopes. The legs have multiple joint and pivot points, as well as rounded traction pads. Using these systems, the Cyclops is capable of shifting its center of gravity and staying upright after being knocked back by a blow or impact.

The programming for this unit can be a little shoddy when it comes to non-sentients. The Cyclops was programmed to be usable by a wide range of species and is programmed to treat nearly every life-form it encounters as sentient. It is often reported that Cyclops droids will shoot at any wild animal larger than a dog unless they are programmed to accept that particular species as friendly. It has also been reported that Cyclops droids have attempted to arrest squirrels on more than one occasion. Numerous attempts at correcting the programming have proven unsuccessful in regard to the droid perceiving the creatures as delinquents. Reported charges made by the Cyclopse droid against squirrels include; loitering, vandalism, theft, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted mutiny, attempting to incite a rebellion, and terrorism.

A state of the art high-powered combat droid that can be distracted by a squirrel. Neat. I'm liking the submission, but please explain in what way it is modular.

The only modularity of the droid is its ability to pick up and use a wide range of weapons. The owner can equip it with his/her own custom supply of weapons and the droid will be able to use the weapon reasonably well, getting better accuracy and efficiency as the droid gets practice firing the unfamiliar weapon. In this way you could purchase a squad of 12 droids and equip two with missile launchers, two with Gatling blasters, 5 with standard rifles, and 3 with flamethrowers. Similarly, if the droid is on the battlefield and runs out of ammo, the droid is capable of picking up the discarded weapons of the enemy and using them (after firing the weapon into the ground a few times to calibrate its aim).

That's not modularity so much as its a unique programming niche for improvising with new weapons. Write that bit under it's description and you're golden.

Sorry, forgot to tag you, my fault entirely. Okay, this is up to specs and accepted pending more approval thingies.
