  • Loronar Defense Industries (Defunct) – The security droid division was absorbed into Crystal Peak while the rest of LDI was sold off to a holding company.

Rationale/Description:

Prior to the Gulag era, the Loronar Corporation was one of the most prominent companies in the galaxy, rivaling even the likes of other corporations like CEC. However, after rash of bad decisions in handling its commercial droid division, and a loss of several lucrative defense contracts with the Galactic Alliance, Loronar found itself in dire financial straits.

By 425 ABY, Loronar was just limping along, so it would be absolutely devastated in the economic depression brought on by the pandemic. Within a year, the diminished corporation was on the verge of bankruptcy, so it began shopping around for buyers to keep it afloat. Eventually, it would be acquired by colony of wealthy Shard immigrants living on Dac, known as the Solaran Combine. The Combine was interested in acquiring the company for its remaining manufacturing infrastructure, and patents dealing with AI and remote control systems like CCIR. Loronar was rebranded as Crystal Peak, and restructured to improve its efficiency the standards of the Combine. Entire divisions were sold off or completely liquidated, and about 2/3 of the workforce was cut with generous severance packages. (Some of those workers would later be rehired as a form of coporate welfare when the Gulag pandemic got worse.)

Even as the galaxy continued to descend into chaos, the Combine managed to turn around the company. Thanks to the Combine’s personal wealth, and the restructuring of their company, they could eat the costs of running Crystal Peak for a good while, willing to play the long game. They would undercut their competition by selling their products with razor thin profit margins, sometimes at loss, and they even donated droids to states that suffered the heaviest levels of depopulation. They earned the good will of their desperate clients for their charity. That good will would later turn into more sales for Crystal Peak as they had drawn people into their ecosystem.

By the early 800s, had become highly profitable, using its centuries of development in remote communications (CCIR) to expand into telecommunications and data management solutions. Crystal Peak would then datamine all the information is had collected from its pipelines and servers to better tailor its products and marketing. As a matter of privacy (and competition), Crystal Peak refused to share its data directly with external sources, but they did to provide consultations (sometimes used a vector for commercial espionage), and bandwidth for advertisements. So Crystal customers would become products as much as they were consumers. The age of Space Google had begun.

"This is derived from a canon company."

[member="Darth Janus"] I was interested in applying Loronar's CCIR technology to some starship designs and avionic systems, in collaboration with shipbuilders like Kuat or Rendili. I also feel that the Republic is in sore need of some more quality military droid models. I can rewrite Loronar out of the submission and come up with some other origin for Crystal Peak.

See, but you just recently submitted for another corporation and it hasn't even been fully approved yet. Until you prove to be active enough with your first company, I'm not going to give you a second.

This is denied. You can second-chance it later, if you want.
