CRI Engineers Know No Tears 1

It had only been a week since the defeat of the Rebel army at Arcadia and their navy in Crina's skies by the Imperial warships that rained destruction upon them. Yet already the new regime on the once content world wants more war machines to fuel their desire for conquest. It can't be helped though I suppose, even the second Princess commanded we get to work. Such a shame, the Royal Family shouldn't have resorted to calling in outsiders, but then the Rebels shouldn't have disturbed the peace and contentment we have here just to feed their own selfish desires for greed. They could have endangered Crina, but now maybe this is worse. . . . . there's no going back now.

We will be receiving the Remnant's data drives on their designs they want use to produce and incorporate into new works. Hopefully we can exploit this opportunity to improve our own technology by updating our production procedures. If the Imperials intervention has taught anyone anything, those of us here at the Andreea yards can tell that our designs severely lack in firepower and shield capacity right now.

Will write more once the Imperial design data arrives.

What is with this nonsense? Its rubbish I tell everyone! Rubbish! The Imperials replaced many of our own foremen among the dock teams with their own, which makes sense, but its a bit soon to suddenly barge in isn't it? What happened to hearts and minds? We all know here the Royal Family's been trying their best in order to preserve Crina as it is, but just how much was given in exchange? The Royal Authority for one thing means little now when they answer to an Emperor, though everyone else here still bows to their rule rightly. I find myself worrying though that the world may end up changing more before things are over. Maybe once the Imperials get in motion they'll eventually tire of a world with a different system than theirs and set up their capital elsewhere and leave us free to be as before outside of whatever loyalties we'll owe them.

Well its not too bad really. The Imperial designs were brought in today and uploaded to the servers. Took a look at some of the earlier and will be going back in depth later on once the complaints about the Imperials move with the Foremen stops scaring everyone. Thankfully they haven't removed any engineers yet, though they have sent a few in. Makes me worried they'll bump me down or remove us all eventually like most of the others fear. I doubt they'd do that though, the Princess did assure me that the Imperials wouldn't get that involved in our infrastructure. They'll just have us do work for them as well and we'll mostly stay operational.

Triangles!? TRIANGLES!? Its all triangles with these Imperials! All their major warships both historic and current have been in the shape of triangles except when excluding their TIE FIghters. Isn't that a lazy name too, Twin Ion Engines. . . . .TIE. . . . why I just can't really believe it. I mean we. . .we named our fighters Crinan Interceptors. . . .I swear whoever was chief designer six decades ago is going to get a good slap from me if they're still alive and we ever meet. Nonetheless, on a more serious note to myself in this journal, we've taken the Imperial design work and began developing blueprints for a new warship for them. Its nothing too special at the moment, rather average in firepower and honestly our teams still struggle with the new engine construction they're having us do.

I think what will make these real special is the feature of the hanger placement on the underbelly of the cruiser. Having it placed ventral will allow us to expand it I think, and would open up the design into becoming an excellent carrier. Likely we could fit four squadrons in there surely, though when I suggested such to the Princess she demanded we double that number. We could likely do that, but the extra space would cut down on a few systems. . . .maybe we can present that to the Imperials and Royals as a reduced amount of Capital Weaponry since they can be taxing on systems, so if we have to make space we could just have less instead of cutting shields? Will have to ask the Imperial liaison and the Princess when they're available.

Everything got put on hold. Its becoming increasingly difficult to mesh the Imperial command structure with the workers when they've been used to our own systems. Certainly the Imperial technology is far more advanced than our own, but the need for their management as if we haven't worked on space worthy craft all our lives has become a bit of an obstacle. They're very controlling about how things should be done, far too particular for my tastes. They're likely here to stay though so we'll be having to put up with these issues for the foreseeable future. The problems shouldn't persist though, we just have to explain to them reasonably that we can indeed do the work, we just have a process. Go ahead and help us get our facilities and data up to date, but we can handle understanding it all fine.

Ah! The Princess and Imperials like the idea of a carrier angle for the warship. It fits in with the idea of the TIEs and our own Crinan Interceptors. We also took the opportunity while we're at it to rework the engine units on all Interceptors in production, should get them as fast as modern fighters out there. . . . . makes everything feel real small knowing there's a whole galaxy out there that could conquer you. Guess we're lucky we got such a good deal. Shouldn't be much longer before we can begin putting the carrier design to production, just have to finish up getting the assembly lines and components up to spec, Still have a lot of crane work involved, but then our dockers love getting themselves involved personally in the construction more than using these confangled Imperial robotic processes.

Right, still suffering from delays, mostly due to the fact the Imperials are finding it difficult and confounding to have the construction work in atmosphere. lots of whinging about how everything is slower because there's weight to the parts we're having to lift in place with cranes and wench work that can't be done with assembly lines and robotic grips. Bet they won't be complaining when we put in our personal touches and make it so their precious ships can glide through atmosphere as readily as space. A bit of an advantage when working directly where physics will weigh the ship down until it starts up and leaves orbit on its own engines.

Some real good news is though that we've been able to begun some serious production on our own interceptor design. We've taken out the outdated laser cannons and engines and replaced them, but the work is so minor really all it does is get them up to code which is simple at their size. The one thing I question is whether or not we should have scrapped the design altogether, but in the end I think they still work perfectly in conjunction with the Imperial units and with the carrier blueprints we've got up. The only problem is streamlining the process where the Imperials are complaining to us, still the Princess says to shoulder on.

Found an Imperial journal today. The datapad was broken, but the data chip was intact. Must have been dropped by an Imperial Foreman from one of the catwalks and been written off as wrecked. Wouldn't be too shocked, most people could safely assume that, but this little guy was lucky and hit the wall and just landed a level below. I'll likely return it to the Imperial if they named themselves in the folders, after I help myself to some information of course.

Imperial Log - Lieutenant Graceson

This is simply mind boggling, the production capabilities of these facilities is simply backwards. They're making good progress on fighter production and even smaller vessels, but I truly fear for the larger ones. It doesn't appear as though they can construct more than one cruiser class vessel a month, though there appears to be enough space to build two at once and still manage fighters and a dedicated berth for frigates or corvettes. I think the real issue is the limitation of physical space to build their yards as a surface structure, not to mention the fact they have to combat gravity during the process.

Nonetheless they're making great haste in their work. Once we get the expansions in and update the technology in their robotics and assembly lines fully we'll speed up things incredibly. I'm hoping that my post here might result in a promotion if the results in increasing the productivity of these Crinan yards is promising. We'll just have to keep seeing. . . . I just hope my fear of heights doesn't become a hindrance. Don't have to worry about falling when the docks are in space and have changeable gravity.

Huh, well at least its not derogative. Maybe with some work we'll get along with the Imperials fine, once we get them to stop acting so superior when it comes to these yards. Its our home turf after all. I'd like to see the look on the fool's face when i tell him we could handle four of our frigates a month before if needed. We just haven't been an intensely war like bunch until the civil war and people were too afraid to damage or press this place because it would have crippled both sides. . . . actually makes me worried that since the rebels lost they might try and bomb this place with nothing to lose. Still a few holdouts left I hear.

-CRI Chief Engineer Alberio

I shouldn't have jinxed it, a rebel did try and bomb the lower levels. Damned fool must have thought that he could collapse the whole place by doing so. There's too many supports for one bomb to do that much damage though, not that it had a chance to go off anyway. The Imperials caught the rebel fleeing the scene after one of the dockers found and reported the device. Caused a stir and worried a lot of the people as rumor spread, but we assured them everything was alright and encouraged them to break the rebel spirits if there was a threat by bringing the creation of our first new design to life, even if it is heavily influenced by Imperial designs.

Did I mention how many of their ships are triangles?

Well anyway we'll be completing the first ship soon. I hear they'll be naming it the Shimmering Sword when it rolls out of the dock, at least that's the word through the vine. not sure if that's an Imperial decision or something the Royals decided. Not a bad name either way. Honestly excited myself. Can't wait to see this beauty pull out.

-CRI Chief Engineer Alberio

It's finally finished! The first carrier has been completed to specifications without much incident at all. Took a while to get around everyone's differences, but we seem to be doing alright right now. The name Shimmering Sword is indeed the name of this new ship, but it won't be leaving the yards for another few days. A crew has already been selected from the Crinan and Imperial militaries, however, apparently what's up for debate is what the maiden voyage of the vessel will be. I heard an Imperial foreman mention that it will be delivering the 181st Fighter Wing's Skull Squadron to the front lines in wiping out the rebel outpost on Rodica.

No one's dared to travel there and risk the asteroid fields since Nicoleta first started the resistance against the Royal Family. That was a few centuries back with outdated ships even by our current standards though. With the new Imperial data, information on the system we've gathered since then, and this new ship combining Crinan work and Imperial design, I think they stand a fair chance at reaching Nicoleta's old stronghold. Seems like an incredible first foray for the carrier.

I wonder if its true?

-CRI Chief Engineer Alberio

It has been confirmed, the Shimmering Sword will be making its first voyage to Rodica and carry the 181st there to deal with the last of the rebel remnants still clinging to their bastion as a symbol of hope. Hopefully the blow dealt to them with its loss would quiet up the rest of those who intend to disturb Crina's peace. If it weren't for those people starting the civil war we wouldn't have the Imperials calling the shots. . . . .but then we also wouldn't be making this incredible amount of progress in jump starting our own technological boom. Though its likely only us here at CRI that are really experiencing any real leaps and bounds.

The Princess said she was heading up the 181st's mission to Rodica and would be departing to take part in crushing the final rebel force that could cause any major unrest still. I hope things go well, it would be a loss to have the second Princess perish, she's the one who inherits the yards while the first takes the throne. If she were to die the Imperials might have direct control of CRI then. I'll be hoping for the best. I'll be watching the Shimmering Sword leave the berths in a few hours. I'll be receiving a message containing new orders for the yards production and improvement tomorrow before the ship leaves easy communication range.

-CRI Chief Engineer Alberio

The newest commands have come down, Crina Royal Industries is to begun a massive effort to bring the shipyards more up to code with the rest of the galaxies technological edge. We'll be making sure we can mass produce the new warships for Crina and the Imperial Remnant by the time the expedition to wipe out the rebels on Rodica returns successful. Not an entirely impossible feat, but the Princess also demanded that we start developing a purely Crinan cruiser analog to match the vessels at the disposal of the other galactic powers. Doing both at the same time will likely not be possible given the timeframe, but I don't doubt the Princess knew that to begin with.

Likely she just intends to work everyone to the bone to get as much done as humanly possible. Which is reasonable since if we ever do get the chance at independence again we'll want to ensure we're at the ability to properly defend ourselves. To crush all future rebellions and ward off invaders. The Imperials have been quite generous and helpful thus far, and hopefully will continue to be. Yet, should things change, or should we become self operative again, we may not be so lucky in the future. We don't want to end up in a worse position.

I'll be keeping a separate journal on the progress of this new project.
