  • Eriadu Manufacturing Shipyards

Model:
  • Crescent class Starfighter

Modularity:
  • Limited

  • The Crescent class Starfighter has a limited modularity; with most modifications coming directly from its operators in the way of personalized decorations, names and kill points emblazoned on the side of the craft. Its additional modularity comes from its weapon hardpoints as described below.

  • Durasteel
  • Starfighter Components

  • (2) Weapon Hardpoints - Explained Below
  • S-foil style collapsible wings - Explained Below
  • External speaker system
  • Atmosphere Flight Capability

Maneuverability Rating: 3
Speed Rating: 3

Hyperdrive Class:
  • None

Strengths:
  • The Crescent class Starfighter has a not so unique weapon hard point system that permits its standard armament to be exchanged for other armaments, permitting the vessel to fulfill multiple roles in combat. These additions are limited however to Proton Torpedo Launchers and Concussion Missile Launchers, or other low yield Laser Cannons.

  • The vessels high maneuverability and speed add to its over all strength, permitting the pilot to ensure the crafts survival even though it lacks shielding like other starfighters.

  • The Crescent class Starfighter is designed to be operated by two individuals, meaning that a pilot can focus on flying, while the gunner focuses on operating the weapon systems.

Weaknesses:
  • Much like the TIE L/N Starfighters utilized by the Empire, the Crescent class Starfighter lacks a shielding system like many other starfighters, meaning that they often focus on mass saturation of an enemy force. Thus, again much like the Empire, only the craziest of pilots and gunner teams are put into the cockpit of a Crescent Starfighter.

  • The vessel has a similar S-foil like wing system as seen in vessels such as the X-Wing. This system however is only used when the vessel is loaded in a hanger bay. The wings fold down to provide additional storage space. However because of this system, a proper strike can cause the entire wing (and attached weapon system) to sheer off of the fighter, leaving it dead in the water or causing it to spin out of control.

  • While it is a strength to ensure that the pilot can focus on flying the vessel and the gunner focus on firing the weapon systems, it is also a weakness. Due to the design, the systems are not wired to the other stations, meaning that the pilot can not fire the weapon systems should the gunner be killed, nor can the gunner pilot the vessel if the pilot is incapacitated.

Description:

The Crescent class Starfighter is a mass produced vessel whose inspiration is that of the mass produced TIE L/N Fighters of the Galactic Empire. Thus the vessels lack any sort of Hyperdrive or a Shield Generator, requiring pilots to rely upon the vessels speed and maneuverability to remain alive. In the same vein, those whom pilot or serve as gunners in these starfighters are often the most fanatical or otherwise crazy individuals trained to fly these vessels, as it is highly unlikely that many will survive beyond their first tours (with those few whom do proving to be veteran pilots and are often placed in special fighter wings and units).

Taking inspiration from the S-foil system often seen in many other vessels (such as the X-Wing and B-Wing) the Crescent class Starfighters are equipped with an S-foil-esc wing system, in that when the vessel is not in use, the wings can be unlocked and folded down to properly store them. This means that more vessels can be stored in a hanger compared to similar vessels of their size. However this also means that much like the TIE L/N, the Crescent class Starfighters are stored in a rack system within the vessel that carries them.

A unique advantage of this starfighter however is its weapon hard point system. This means that the standard armament of two heavy laser cannons can be removed and replaced with another weapon (usually only lower yield laser cannons, torpedo launchers, missile launchers, or ion cannons). This means that a squadron of these fighters can act in multiple roles beyond their original starfighter class.

Crew:
  • (1) Pilot
  • (1) Gunner

Cargo Capacity:
  • 25 kilograms - If gunner position is unoccupied

Development Thread:
  • If Necessary

Intent:

  • Provide the Terminus Imperium with a cost efficient, mass produced vessel similar to the mass produced TIE L/N fighters in service to the Empire at the height of its power.

Good sub again. It wasn't immediately clear how many hardpoints there were. For the purpose of this being clear for both me and other people who may pilot one could you add "X of the following:" above the optional armaments please?
