• Increased Mobility

  • Limited Anti-Ion capability
Strengths:

  • Flexible: Designed as a combat and utility uniform for the Chiss Primacy crews, these uniforms combine style and comfort with protection. Designed primarily as a uniform with limited protection, they allow for high mobility and range of movement.

  • Durable Materials: Crafted with some of the most durable materials available, moderate use and wear will not wear out these uniforms. Additionally, it is able to protect the wearer from some amount of blunt trauma and abrasive trauma that might be caused from impacts or unarmed attacks. Due to the construction of the uniform, standard and unpowered knives can be reliably turned aside by the thick fabric.

  • Environmentally Sealed & Regulated: Created with utility in mind and designed with primarily space-bound military personnel, the suit is able to be combined with nearly any standard helmet/rebreather/oxygen system to allow survival in the vacuum of space. Though entirely dependent on the oxygen supply device, this increases crew survivability in the void of space as well as on planets and environments of extreme temperatures. Using flexible electronics, the uniform is able to moderate and regulate body temperature.

  • Life-sign Monitoring System: A fairly cut and dry stat monitoring system is proprietary to the uniform, allowing the tracking of heart rate, blood pressure, temperature as well as other critical vital signs and piping that data back to a mainframe if configured. This allows for both vital tracking and location tracking.

  • Magboots: In line with the utilitarian nature of this uniform, a pair of magboots is standard fare. These allow the user to activate the magboots with a simple switch on the boot itself as well as an optional module attached to the utility belt.

  • Limited Lightsaber Resistance: As could be guessed, the neck and shoulder portion of this uniform are somewhat resistant to lightsaber blows however the rest of the uniform would at best survive a glancing blow. Sustained contact with a lightsaber blade would easily see this armor/uniform compromised.

  • Limited anti-ion capability: Though the suit contains anti-ion mesh, it is very unlikely that it will negate or prevent much damage from ion weaponry. This being said, it does insulate the vital tracking electronics as well as the magboot activation system. Though protected, if the uniform were to receive more than one or two hits from an ion weapon, those systems could experience interruption or complete failure.
Weaknesses:

  • I’m Just a Uniform: It is just a uniform, not a set of fully fledged combat armor. As such, it will not protect against high caliber weapons or explosives and only provides limited protection against blaster bolts. Additionally, it has no combat analytics nor any HUD system or enhanced capability aside from the standard life support monitoring system weaved into the mesh.

  • One Hit Wonder: Unlike many modern combat and protective armors, this uniform is incapable of defending against repeated shots in the same location. The fabric and construction may be blaster resistant but its protection is severely hampered once hit in the same spot more than once. As can be expected, the shoulders and limited inserts are capable of taking more than a single hit but by and large the uniform is compromised after one solid hit with a blaster weapon.

  • Large Coverage Gaps: Paying for its mobility in the price of coverage, the uniform only has several inserts and attachments (Shoulder armor, gel inserts) and has many open gaps that are vulnerable to weapon strikes and blaster fire. While kinetic damage is something the durable materials assist in protection against, it won’t keep your from breaking a rib and if punctured loses its ability to survive the vacuum.

  • Batter up!: While the uniform and its materials can provide some kinetic protection (i.e. bumps and knocks associated with turbulence or unarmed blows), they do little to blunt the trauma of melee weapons. A bat or a piece of durasteel rebar is likely to be near as dangerous as a blaster depending on the wielder. Broken ribs aren't a question when faced with with melee weapons, they're a reality even if the gel inserts manage to lessen the blow.
DESCRIPTION

The CPSU-A was designed as a hybrid between protective armor and an environmental suit. Coupled with a sleek style, the uniform was chosen as the standard for space crews flying under the banner of the Chiss Primacy. Not only does the uniform provide some protection against both sentient and non-sentient or natural dangers, but serves as an easily recognizable identifier for crews when looking for a medical specialist versus an engineering technician. The uniforms are modifiable to a degree, allowing departments to remain color coded and badges for identification to be added whether it’s the family crest of the wearer or their technical specialty or rank. Serving as the primary uniform of the Chiss Primacy, these uniforms are readily available to anyone and while civilians might find a greater ability to customize their loadouts and arrangements, it serves its purpose well.

Neat uniform, but it'll need a few adjustments before I can stamp it.

  • With the listed materials and the way they are used, I feel this is too light. Duraplast and duravlex are both metals, and they're incorporated pretty extensively in this light armor.
  • Increase this to 6 kg.

  • These things don't fit together.
  • Either increase the overall quality rating to fit the protection it offers
    OR
  • Reduce the amount of protection it offers by making the appropriate changes in the Strengths&Weaknesses sections, to fit the Q:4
    OR
  • Split the quality rating to reflect the different protection offered by reinforced and non-reinforced areas.
  • Furthermore, the materials you have listed and the way they're used would provide better defense against energy weapons than melee and kinetic damage. Armor in general fares badly against kinetic / concussive damage, and this is all the more pronounced with light armors.

Anti-Ion Mesh (Throughout), Shock Absorbing Gel (Torso Inserts sewn into uniform)
  • Should be listed under Special Features.
  • The Anti-ion mesh should also be listed under Strengths. Its entry under Weaknesses is dubiously a weakness. Reduce the effectiveness of this mesh, please, as your armor is pretty darn strong for a mass-produced light armor. It can take one moderately powerful EMP/Ion shot before becoming ineffective.

Limited Lightsaber Protection
  • This should definitely be listed under Strengths. Please be clear that it's only for glancing blows. A full-on attack pierces armorweave without much trouble.

  1. Finally, your company is not yet approved. You can make the above edits to the sub, but I can't approve it until your company has passed judgement.

@mention me with edits and questions.

This was an edit I had intended to make prior to posting - I have corrected by adding the source link, all images are sourced from that primary link.

I disagree. This based on the fact that the only portions of the uniform containing this reinforcement (Duraplast/Durvalex) is the top of the shoulders and the neck. The plates are decidedly not as thick as a standard armor plate like one might find on a stormtrooper and cover significantly less area, a fraction of what a duraplast armor cuirass would cover. Even Leather armor of the medieval age (A breastplate and backplate) typically weigh no more than 4.5 lbs. The main material of this submission is armorweave fabric with a small amount of plate across the shoulders and neck. At 8 lbs, I think that is a fairly realistic weight considering

I have removed the torso inserts of duraplast, as that may have been confusing. Given the coverage of weighty materials is minimal, I am inclined to keep the current weight. Though towards that angle..

I have split the armor ratings to reflect that it is only the shoulders/neck portion that carries the higher armor rating and that the majority of the uniform/armor is of lower defensive rating. I have also made it clear that blunt weapons like bats, rebar, etc will pose a significant threat to this uniform/armor to clarify that kinetic damage while perhaps shruggable (literally) across the shoulders is entirely not across the majority of the body.

Otherwise, the changes have been made and strengths/weaknesses appropriately applied.
