Second plum finished, Kail smiled as he listened to her prattle on, turning to drop the stone and pick a handful of green grapes. He could get used to his – he hadn’t felt as refreshed in days...weeks….months.
He popped one in his mouth and crunched it, a sweet taste spread around his mouth with the soft flesh under his teeth.
”You’ve not seen anything, princess. I can tell – you’ve been swept up with this life of duality, one part thrill seeker, one part fed with a silver spoon. You’ve seen the galaxy that you’ve been allowed to see. You’ve not seen it when it’s unleashed, unreserved and when you’re least prepared for it.”
The grapes proved a good distraction to avoid laughing at goading her, but her irritation was rising. He was enjoying this.
”Jedi, Sith, all warriors with the Force and Magic and what-not at their fingertips. It’s scary, but fascinating. I’ve been around Jedi on Midvinter, and Sith, of course. They can throw you miles with just a thought. Their power comes from everything around them that they want to manipulate. I’ve seen, and received, great wounds and pain from those with the Force. Jedi and Sith is just a tag for which side of the fence they are on, but they both can do the same damage, it’s a matter of who uses it.”
Kail held a grape out between his thumb and finger.
”Powers can get into your mind without you even realising it or stopping it and they are in there – twisting the knife, raping your memories and your free-will for their own gain and they don’t care if you survive it or not. Powers that can reduce a man to nothing, or elevate them to near God-like status with life and death at the fingertips. Basically, their power can do this to you – “
The grape exploded under the pressure he applied, torn skin and flesh dripping to the floor.
” – and then you’re really screwed.”
