Public [COTM] - August 2025 - Winner!

Hey!

August's Character of the Month Winner is the one and only Koda Fett Koda Fett !!!

Congratulations!!

Each nomination was really solid choice and it was super exciting to see all the threads and reasoning behind each nomination! Super excited to see who was going to be nominated in September and what fun threads everyone has been getting up to!

Here's the signature for Koda if you wanna use it!

And here are the questions:

As for my question for whoever the winner is, where would you like to see your character in a year?

I guess I had to ask a question so: Cantina Band or Jedi Rocks?

QUESTION: Biggest aspiration for the character going forward?

QUESTION: What's your process for pacing character development and not rushing things or taking things too slow?

Question - Any regrets IC.and/or OOC?

How many drafts of a post/writing piece do you typically go through, before you get to the finished work?

Oh, I have to ask you a question, right? Did you find it difficult to create all of these events? I know the podracer had both a map and individual hazards for each leg!

Thanks for the votes! I think I keep a fairly small circle even if I have wormed my way into most servers so it's nice to get some votes from people I haven't had the chance to interact with all that much just yet. Something I very much need to change, I think.

QUESTION: Biggest aspiration for the character going forward?
I put these two together because I think my answer would more or less the same. Ideally, I would make Koda into a more complete character, however that may represent itself. I'm very cautious about the whole 'too many hats' thing in which a character ends up diluting their own identity after just accumulating so many others. So, I always want him to just fundamentally remain MANDALORIAN BOUNTY HUNTER, which has definitely resulted in me blocking off certain avenues. I would want to give him more connections to the people around him, or rather just leave more of an impact on the grander narrative of Chaos. Writing a cold-hearted bounty hunter -- which can often be the epitome of the lone wolf archetype -- has left Koda as a very closed-off loner character (by design). Going forwards, I want to do more writing that explores his character more without stepping on my own toes.

QUESTION: What's your process for pacing character development and not rushing things or taking things too slow?
I ask myself. I take things too slow, which is the reason I asked this. I'm often paranoid about rushing or indecisive on where I want to take a character, so I often end up having very stagnant characters. Corin is the exception, as I wrote him from padawan learner into what he is now at a pace I liked. Do as I say not as I do: better to just rip off the band aid and roll with it.

Question - Any regrets IC.and/or OOC?
IC, I think there's a part of Koda that longs for a certain kind of normalcy that his actions have ensured he cannot have. It isn't ever-present, but definitely a background thought that lingers or rises at certain points. He's just never been able to sit still or be content. There's always something to chase, whether that's been something tangible in the form of credits or something more metaphysical, like notoriety. If there's any one thing he regrets, it would be burning bridges between himself and the Mandalorian people. If anyone could understand him, it's them. He's just too arrogant and egotistical to answer to any authority beyond his own. OOC, I have many. I wish I put more emphasis on Koda's rise into becoming the number one bounty hunter, building connections with other characters more among countless other things. Benefit of hindsight, I suppose, with what matters more to me now not being the same as it was back then.

I sit down, type straight into the reply box and hit send without proof reading.

I found it very easy for Rathmar Praji Rathmar Praji to make all those events and the associated maps, hazards, rules etc. I didn't have to do anything.
