DESCRIPTION
The KG-84 is a standard Laser Cannon manufactured by Borstel Galactic Defense. Designed and sold in a large kit containing easy to adapt components, the KG-84 can be mounted nearly anywhere you could feasibly fit a laser cannon. On land-based vehicles, emplacements, and starfighters it suffers, like all laser cannons, from problems with heat generation and power usage, which limit it's effective firing rate. On capital ships, it suffers from a lack of power, and is typically relegated to a point defense role. The KG-84 is fully capable of piercing light-to-medium vehicle armor, including that of most starfighters.

Strengths:
  • Rapid Fire - A standard laser cannon, the KG-84 is capable of a very high rate of fire, assuming adequate power supply.
  • Versatile Mounting - Capable of being mounted in a variety of platforms, including fixed defenses, land vehicles, starfighters, and capital ships.
Weaknesses :
  • Heat/Power Draw - As with all laser cannons, the KG-84 requires a large amount of power to operate, and generates considerable waste heat. This is primarily a concern on vehicles and starfighters, which don't have a lot of extra power to go around.

DESCRIPTION
The BX-2 is Borstel Galactic Defense's latest blaster cannon offering. A classic blaster cannon, the BX-2 offers respectable firepower and a great rate of fire. Easy to adapt and install, the BX-2 can be found even on civilian speeders and rovers to provide some extra firepower. It can also be used as a fire support weapon, and is reasonably effective against light vehicles, aircraft, and infantry.

Strengths:
  • Very Rapid Fire - A classic Blaster Cannon, the BX-2 is not fully automatic but can manage a very high rate of fire in short bursts.
  • Versatile Roles - The BX-2 can be found mounted on vehicles, used as a fire support weapon, or built into defensive emplacements.
Weaknesses :
  • Limited Power - While more than powerful enough to deal with infantry and light vehicles, the BX-2 suffers against heavy vehicle armor. Heavy Tanks or large walkers can likely shrug off its shots.
  • Power Supply - When not mounted on vehicles or in an emplacement the BX-2 requires a large external power supply to operate effectively. This is both heavy and unwieldy, and also means the weapon has limited ammunition.

TURBOLASER

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: A standard Turbolaser created by Taim & Bak.
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Development Thread: N/A
  • Primary Source: Turbolaser
PRODUCTION INFORMATION

  • Manufacturer: Taim & Bak
  • Model: XHgN-220 Stutter-fire Turbolaser
  • Affiliation: Open-Market
  • Modularity: Can be mounted on a variety of turrets/emplacements.
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Standard Blaster components.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Turbolaser Cannon
  • Size: Stationary or Ship-Mounted
  • Length: 12.9m
  • Weight: 1400kg
  • Ammunition Type: Power Cell and Gas Canister
  • Ammunition Capacity: Effectively unlimited.
  • Effective Range: Ground-based variants are limited to direct-fire visual range, typically 8-12 kilometers. Spaceship mounted variants have standard space engagement ranges.
  • Rate of Fire: Approximately one shot every 2-4 seconds.

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Can fire a full-power two-shot burst with extremely high precision. Requires twice as long to recharge after one of these shots as normal.
DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES
Stutter-fire Mode: The 220 is capable of a two-shot stutterfire designed to penetrate shields and armor on smaller vessels. After a slightly longer than normal charge time,t he weapon is capable of firing a pair of shots with nearly perfect precision, resulting in two turbolaser bolts striking nearly the same spot. This is very effective against smaller ships and vehicles at penetrating shields and defeating armor, but is of dubious use against larger ships, where heavy sustained fire is the key to defeating shield arrays.

DESCRIPTION
The XHgN-220 (or simply the '220') is a specialized Turbolaser designed by Taim & Bak for use as a fortress defensive emplacement, siege weapon, and starship battery. Inspired by tactics used during the Yuuzhan-Vong War, the 220 can fire a two shot burst and is designed to defeat corvettes and smaller vessels with ease, sacrificing rate of fire to punch through shields and armor (especially when used in volleys). While the stutterfire ability is of limited use against larger vessels, the 220 is fully capable of being used as a conventional turbolaser as well, albeit a somewhat pricey one.

Strengths:
  • Stutterfire Ability is very effective against freighters and corvettes.
  • Turbolaser bolts are very high-yield, capable of destroying a starfighter in a single shot, pulverizing most ground vehicles, and dealing significant damage to shields and armor of larger spaceships. They also make a very effective ground bombardment weapon.
  • The high-energy cohesion of Turbolasers gives them a very large range, though effective range is still largely dependent on fire control solutions.
Weaknesses :
  • Stutterfire Ability has limited effectiveness against Frigates and larger ships, because of the longer cycle time.
  • Turbolasers in general are mounted on large, bulky emplacements which have a hard time targeting strike craft and even smaller and faster corvettes.
  • The increased energy output results in a slower cycle time for Tubolasers compared to their smaller variants.
