Connecting on Commenor

Sirius Nova had once met with Lady Kay and thought he should meet with her again. Clad in a black and gold trimmed robe that was one that the Narrikian Emperors of the past had worn something similar to, Sirius landed in a shuttle on the planet, having made one of the Galactic Empire ships, whose IFF had been changed to that of the Narrikian Federation for this ferry him to this location. Getting a ride back would be on him, however. Having come without bodyguards, but with Elegance on his person, Sirius knew he could hold his own. What he had been learning from Joza should allow him to fight, or at the very least survive. However, he'd end up getting lost in the main city of the world, the Capital City of it.

[member="Sirius Nova"] was greeted in the same manner as before. As soon as his ship was verified, word was sent directly to the Palace to notify Kay of his arrival. One of her staff was sent out to meet him at the landing pad that he was directed to.

"This way please, sir." He gestured to an awaiting landspeeder. Once on board, the two of them sped off to the Palace in Chasin City. As they arrived, Sirius was taken inside and guided to a meeting room.

Kay on the otherhand was trying to finish a chapter in her mystery holonovel. She knew that she had moments to spare. But even then, time had gotten away from her. Sirius would be waiting for about five minutes before she had managed to to step into the meeting room.

"Welcome back to Commenor. I trust that you're well?"

When he was helped onto the speeder, Sirius smiled. He hadn't wanted to search the entire place, in order to get himself to Lady Kay's HQ. The familiar weight of his lightsaber at his waist was a comfort on this strange world. Of course, he hadn't been off Setus Prime in a long time. Sirius looked like he had been pushing himself too hard if Lady Kay looked at him intently. He'd say.

"I've been better. Had a lot to do on Setus Prime lately," He said, frowning. "Trying to reform the Narrikian Military, introduce mandatory Force Training, prepare Planetary Shields... got so much to do...." He'd say. "So how have things been with you?"

Kay nodded while [member="Sirius Nova"] spoke. She knew full well of what that was like. Having so much to do and little time for one's self. At times there was very little sleeping too.

"Quite busy. I've recently gotten married, Commenor has expanded it's reach and protection to nearby worlds, so as you can imagine, it leaves me a lot to do. What do we owe the honour of this visit?"

"Congratulations on getting married," Sirius said, with a smile. That had been information that he hadn't known about, and that was something that surprised Sirius, that he was that far out of the Galactic Loop. Such was going to need to change. A lot of revisions about the Narrikian Culture were going to be done soon by him, and he'd honestly need some help in order to make all of them happen, properly. Unfortunately, he couldn't do all of it, on his own. It was one of the reasons he had decided to use her political clout with the Narrikians, via what he had done for her, in order to make sure that his plans could be carried out on schedule, to say the least. "The quakes stopped, finally..." said Sirius. "Thanks to some technology used to stabilize that part of the planet, some Narrikian Engineering. I"ll not lie and say that the job was easy," said Sirius. "But they got it done, so there is that. Still, I am looking to expand the Narrikians into other parts of the Galaxy, and make them less dependent on me. I'm so swamped right now, I NEED a solution to them "insisting" I micromanage EVERYthing."

Kay bowed her head in thanks as [member="Sirius Nova"] congratulated her on her nuptuals. She then invited him to sit down at the merting table and began pouring them both some tea.

"Glad to hear that the quakes had gotten under control. And having to do everything? I know what that's like. You should hire Ministers to take care of some things for you."

She sat down on a chair and picked up her tea, having a sip.

Hiring a minister was definitely a wise idea, thought Sirius as he sipped the tea she had prepared after he sat down. Why hadn't he thought about it sooner? Oh yes, he'd been too busy trying to run everything as per the Legislation of Emperors of the past, which at some point Sirius was going to shred into very fine confetti because it kept being a pain for him. Rules on proper Imperial Decorum, rules on how they could dress, Sirius was half a mind to redo the entire Narrikian Constitution, and laws so that they weren't as much of a headache or a stress-inducer for him.

"As you are Arbiter of Succession still, though it would pass onto your husband according to Narrikian bylaws, I see no reason why not to do this. I am giving you permission to choose ANY uninhabited area on Setus Prime and build yourself a place there. You may choose anywhere on the planet. Consider it... a wedding gift."

Sirius then looked at her more seriously. "As the other part of the wedding gift, and to ensure I don't have to seek out another Arbiter of Succession," said Sirius. "I'm giving you 250 Elite Narrikian Soldiers to serve as a personal guard unit, for both you and your husband."

Kay blinked. Arbiture of Succession? She hadn't heard of such a title. The idea of such a title falling to her husband before herself wasn't all that surprising. There were many cultures that favoured females over males and in some cases where it's very strict, then she'd call on Veiere or one of her male Ministers to negotiate further.

"Thank you for the gift. My husband wishes not to pursue politics. His passion lies in studying the Force. It keeps him too busy to have to worry about stately affairs. I think that I should pick out a location that isn't too far out of the way for people to visit. Embassies shouldn't be isolated. But 250 guardsmen? That is too much. I'd settle for one-tenth of that at most. We have no enemies, afterall."

She sipped her tea. "What exactly is an Arbiter of Succession? I'm not familiar with it."

[member="Sirius Nova"]

"The role of Arbiter of Succession is two-fold, [member="Lady Kay"]. Should a Narrikian Emperor die on the battlefield, or of old age or from assassination, the Arbiter of Succession is allowed to govern the Narrikians for a period of 3 years, until such point as they deem a candidate of Narrikian blood as worthy of becoming the next Emperor. They are also in charge of appointing the Emperors of any other worlds that the Narrikians expand to, a power that not even I possess as Emperor." Sirius began, as he explained. "There is also another job that they have. Should the Emperor of the Narrikians become a Tyrant, they are allowed to remove his authority, and appoint another Narrikian as Emperor, and sentence him to either execution, exile or reformation," admitted Sirius to her. "In other words, you and your husband are the Arbiter of Succession for the Narrikians. The reason I thought of him was you said he wasn't interested in politics all that much." Sirius then sighed. "And now you know the what the role entails, and why I considered assigning 250 bodyguards to you, and your husband, split between you. However, as you wish for me to diminish the number of bodyguards, I shall do so."

He'd sigh for a moment. "Unfortunately, with how power hungry some of the nobles of the Narrikians are getting, I didn't want to name an Arbiter of Succession from among the Narrikians, so that they couldn't simply raze the farm or ruin the business of a Narrikian, after they kill me, to get themselves appointed as Emperor. I don't want to be a Tyrant, and now you know the reason you were appointed. You're kind and honest, Lady Kay. It's earned you this position, for both yourself and your husband."

Kay just blinked as [member="Sirius Nova"] explained to her of what the role was about. And she just couldn't fathom it. Why did he pick her for such a thing? To have to choose the Emperor of a world without knowing anyone. How would she know who was or wasn't a tyrant? Perhaps that is what the three years were for.

"You honour me with this responsibility. Let's just hope that I don't have to use it. What if you have children? Wouldn't it fall to them?"

"I wish," said Sirius. "No, the Arbiter is the one who gets to decide. Emperor is not a position that can be passed via birthright, though sometimes I wish it was, I truly do. But I'm not allowed to change that law," sighed Sirius. He'd look at her for a moment, and then say something to her. "I will be very busy soon, seeking out individuals to teach me how to practice and use the Force properly in combat situations. I have a lot to learn, and very little time to do so in. I don't suppose I could convince you to come to Setus Prime, and start looking for Prime Real Estate to build your new home in, could I?" asked Sirius to her.

Not allowed to be chosen by an heir. Well that didn't make things easier. And it was the law too. Perhaps there was some way that she could change that. "What about the Arbiter? Couldn't the Arbiter change the law to allow children of the Emperor to become heirs?" It was a sound idea in her mind.

[member="Sirius Nova"] then asked about her visiting his world, to build...her new home. Despite being given this charge, she couldn't fathom having to be there for long, especially not for three whole years. She had much to do here. But still, Kay needed to know just where her building will be constructed. "Alright. I can spare a few days. But not too long. They'd miss me too much here."
