"The role of Arbiter of Succession is two-fold, [member="Lady Kay"]. Should a Narrikian Emperor die on the battlefield, or of old age or from assassination, the Arbiter of Succession is allowed to govern the Narrikians for a period of 3 years, until such point as they deem a candidate of Narrikian blood as worthy of becoming the next Emperor. They are also in charge of appointing the Emperors of any other worlds that the Narrikians expand to, a power that not even I possess as Emperor." Sirius began, as he explained. "There is also another job that they have. Should the Emperor of the Narrikians become a Tyrant, they are allowed to remove his authority, and appoint another Narrikian as Emperor, and sentence him to either execution, exile or reformation," admitted Sirius to her. "In other words, you and your husband are the Arbiter of Succession for the Narrikians. The reason I thought of him was you said he wasn't interested in politics all that much." Sirius then sighed. "And now you know the what the role entails, and why I considered assigning 250 bodyguards to you, and your husband, split between you. However, as you wish for me to diminish the number of bodyguards, I shall do so."
He'd sigh for a moment. "Unfortunately, with how power hungry some of the nobles of the Narrikians are getting, I didn't want to name an Arbiter of Succession from among the Narrikians, so that they couldn't simply raze the farm or ruin the business of a Narrikian, after they kill me, to get themselves appointed as Emperor. I don't want to be a Tyrant, and now you know the reason you were appointed. You're kind and honest, Lady Kay. It's earned you this position, for both yourself and your husband."
