Compass

She actually only paid a small amount of attention to what was around them and instead rather focused on what was going on between them. What had started out as a sort of reunion had turned into almost a date. Having given up so much of her past in an attempt to move beyond that, when she came here, she faced a ghost from it. Edric was that ghost, a single meeting that brought her to now.

Their arms snaked together and united felt natural. A feeling of contentment filled her and any real worries or concerns evaporated for the time being. Living at least for now in the present, it felt like a weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

As they walked, each of them supported the other, but didn't realize it. In a way, it was like the day in the desert. Just without the fighting. The brief thought of that accidental kiss crossed her mind and humor filled her. If he was empathic, he would probably pick up on it. Without him knowing why though it might confuse him.

Taking a seat together, side by side, Zesiro looked around and up at the sky to enjoy the view of colors. The fading of day to night and the rainbow of different orange and red hues. Eventually those faded into blues and purples until the sun went down and darkness filled the sky. Not total darkness as there were the stars and streak of the galaxy.

Silence between them reigned until Edric asked what she was thinking. In her voice was a slight change, but not something she noticed.

"Our world is pretty, beautiful in a way I never noticed before. I also think a little about the past and the future."

Leaning her head back to look up at the view she had never really looked at after speaking to him, she wondered which star was which, but kept that to herself. After a moment, Zesiro looked back to the ground and her companion. He had asked about being his retainer, but she suddenly felt they could be so much more.

"What about you?"

Edric watched her as he listened to her talk, eyes focused on her intently just as he had been staring at the sky a moment before. [member="Zesiro"] had him more or less entranced as she answered the question, his interest and curiosity in her thoughts consuming him and he was not at all disappointed in the answer. Something did humor him though and he couldn't help himself but start to laugh with a happy tone to his voice. He didn't reveal the reason for the humor quite yet and he took a bit more of the humor from Zesiro herself as her emotions bled into his mind and altered his own thoughts on the situation. After his laughing had calmed a bit, he would answer her before asking a question of his own.

"I think that the sight is something very rare to enjoy these days for people. They dont know how to simply slow down and enjoy things sometimes and cant relax when the entire world seems to be going to hell around them. We live in a galaxy with enough going on that finding the beauty in something you see every day can be hard. But its there." He leaned his head back and looked back up at the sky for a few moments. He wondered if his answer was satisfactory before turning his eyes on her again.

This time he looked up with a bit of a devilish grin, a small bit of her own thoughts bleeding into his mind again. It was still him though, and the grin was more of his mind finding something he found interesting. Unlike his father, there was nothing really devious behind the smile, and instead was a young man who was enjoying the moment and enjoying picking the mind of someone that he could consider a good friend. It was as simple as that for him.

"If you are satisfied with that answer, I need one more question answered. What did you mean 'Our World'. If I didn't know any better, I would think that you had already laid claim to this world as your home, or even the city itself?" He looked at her in the eyes while asking his question, giving her the time to answer him as he kept his focus purely on her.

Somehow knowing they were sharing a connection through the Force, it wasn't something either of them were doing on purpose. Why he was laughing though was lost on her, but Zesiro enjoyed the sense of it and them being together. She honestly felt like this was the first true laughter he had in a very long time. If she was truthful, the same could be said of her.

Barely nodding as he commented about people not slowing down enough to notice what was around them, she agreed silently. Such had been the case with her. Duty, work and just life had kept her too busy to see this world.

In the night, their eyes met. Edric said he needed one more question answered and asked for clarification of what she meant when she said, "our world". In almost the same tone of voice she had spoken with before, Zesiro took her time to answer him. Every word carefully picked as much as she could and they all had a sense of truth and conviction behind them.

"We both live here, Edric. That alone makes Kesh our world. However, this is your world and I am just a part of the whole. In a round-a-about way, you have accepted me here, even if you didn't know it. Thank you."

When she finished, she would reach for his hand to squeeze gently if he allowed it, not breaking eye contact with him. The simple, but devilish smile tempted her to attempt an actual kiss. However, his last reaction stopped her from attempting that. As the thought of that kiss returned, Zesiro would again move in quickly to try and plant one on his check like she had their first meeting. It would be up to him if he allowed it to land on the cheek or he moved to accept a real kiss.

Edric was happy to the explanation that was being given, his hands twisting the grass under it while she explained. He has expected some simpler and quicker answer than the one given, but this one was far better to hear. His eyes focused on hers as they sat there and then there was silence for a moment. Emotions were running crazy, and Edric didn't quite understand them entirely but one was far stronger than the others.

His heart quickened as Zes' emotions but him and he tried to decipher them as he sat there, his mind running over the thoughts a million times in a second in an almost movie like fashion. Even more so when she leaned forward, her hand taking his and another spike in emotions hit him like a train. He swallowed, eyes shifting to the ground as she got closer.

Soon though a moment of decision came, Edric's eyes refocused on her and hand tensed up before relaxing and tilting his head slightly. Why he was reacting as he did, he wasn't quite certain, his head running with his own thoughts and Zesiro's, his face red and eyes barely able to stay focused on one thought. His heart felt like it was going to burst out of his chest and in those few short moments he leaned forward too, meeting her and staring as he welcomed the kiss.

At that point though, he was lost.

This felt natural to her, not something forced as so much had been in the past. Not since she had come to Kesh though. Here and now was her focus, that past was laid to rest. Not forgotten, but moved beyond. It had hindered her development and held her back. Now she looked to the future. Edric offered her one and she wasn't going to let it or him go.

Zesiro honestly did not expect the full acceptance of her kiss by him. His hand gripped hers for a moment before he just relaxed and met her lips with his. That sent a thrill and spark through her. Made her feel truly wanted and maybe needed.

What she felt was new. In the past she had thought she knew what love was, this was different. She knew what lust and passion were. It wasn't those either. What she did know was this is what was meant to be. Time would work wonders between the two them and define what their relationship would be.

With his offer of a position as a retainer accepted, there wasn't going to be much that would keep her from that duty.

When it was natural for the kiss to end, she didn't push for more. Instead, she wore a soft, little smile and rested her forehead on his.

"Thank you, Edric. If we had anything to toast with, I would offer one to new beginnings."

He smiled back at the thought and shrugged, careful not to move his head with hers resting against. He thought for a moment as to what he should say at this point but to be honest he was barely keeping himself from simply wigging out again with her so close and after what he did. His hand hadn't left hers either at this point so he simply said the first thing that came to his slow and distracted mind.

"I don't know, that would mean moving. And I like looking at your eyes." The kid barely knew how else to reply, sitting there in confusion as to where to go with this scenario.

Luckily, he didn't have to do much. He could rely on Zesiro to drive this at this point and was even ok with simply sitting there until they both decided to leave. It was at this point that he had forgotten any other obligation and as the night went on, he could care less as to what was to happen next.
