OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: A special gift for one in need filled with Holiday Cheer.
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Micro-Holocamera
  • Holoprojection Plate
  • One Holoimage Storage Matrix
  • Long-ranged Telepathic Communication Amplification
  • Single-Use, Rechargeable Teleportation
Strengths:
  • Telepathy - Amplifies the wearer's ability with Telepathy allowing them to reach out to those whose images are contained within the talisman across great distances without taxing their own strength or that of those they contact. This creates a channel which the target can use to respond even if they do not possess the Telepathic ability. Only deliberate thoughts are sent, so there is no need to fear an ill-timed, stray thought will be sent.
  • Teleportation - Allows the wearer to Teleport from their current location to that of one of the people whose image is contained within the talisman up to 21 miles away. The ability can only be used once before requiring a lengthy recharge under a moonlit sky. The magick imbued in the talisman will ensure a safe arrival (its wearer will not appear on the wrong side of a starship's hull or inside of a wall).
  • Compass - By focusing on the mental image of someone stored in the talisman, a general sense of 'knowing' whether the wearer is on the right path toward that person will be felt.
Weaknesses:
  • Talent - The telepathic amplification requires a wearer to possess even a rudimentary ability to use Telepathy; otherwise only the teleportation capability will function for such a wearer.
  • Reception - Sufficient distraction (deafening noise) or deliberate refusal by the receiving party can prevent telepathic contact.
  • Teleportation Charge - The ability to teleport possesses a single use between recharges. It cannot be used with a partial charge, and it can only teleport a single living creature. The glyphs on the face of the talisman will be a flat gray when discharged, and silver when ready for use. Recharging the teleportation ability requires an hour of a moon's light, or longer if cloud cover diffuses the moon's light. Multiple moons may shorten the duration of the recharging cycle given sufficient luminosity.
  • A Mirror Darkly - The wearer cannot see their destination to choice a precise point of arrival. However, the closer they are spatially or the more vividly they envision the person and their surroundings, the closer the wearer will arrive to that person.
  • Force Void - Regions bereft of the Force, or where the Force is suppressed by some means will prevent the talisman from functioning.
DESCRIPTION
The Compass of the Eternal is a wearable talisman created by Nightmother Vytal Noctura to permit its wearer to carry a holo-image of those closest to their heart at all times. While away, it also allows the wearer to remain in contact with those whose image was taken, and in an emergency instantly return to them.

Created around a bit of modern technology, the Compress can take a single holo-image of a small to medium-sized group of people (such as loved ones) that is stored within its matrix, and the names of those in the image known to the wearer are etched into the flat back of the talisman by magick. When the talisman is opened a small holo-projection of that image is displayed. This image forms the basis of both the Telepathic and Teleportation enchantments -- the wearer can focus on any held within the talisman as a target for communication or in appearing in their presence.

The Compass is intended to keep its wearer out of an all-consuming darkness, or if need-be to provide them a light so they may find their way home. Its holo-lens and storage matrix was not designed for frequent usage. Family members can change over time and a new picture taken, but an attempt to use the Compass as a means of infiltrating enemy strongholds may soon disappoint when new images are no longer taken -- and prying open its technological shell would ruin the magical enchantment leaving it an ornate miniature camera.

With the shell closed, the holo-emitter is powered down and not subject to being damaged by electromagnetic pulses or nearby electrical currents.

Missing the boiler plate disclaimer around the effects of force nullification, so please loop in that in. I'll also be asking you to clarify if this has a presence within the force that can be sensed and also put a limit on that teleportation range. I'm fine with relatively short distances, perhaps even across a continent or even the whole planet at an absolute push, but beyond that and I'm inclined to crackdown.
