Codex Contest: The Netherworld

The Netherworld of the Force, also known as the Mist-Beyond, was the place Force Sensitive souls went after their physical bodies died. Darksiders, Lightsiders, and those between would find themselves here in that moment after the silence.

We are looking to expand our site atlas- a map that will include the Netherworld in the future. This is where you and the Codex come in!

Codex Contest VII: The Netherworld​

ELIGIBILITY

• This contest is open to anyone. Chaos Staff will Judge the contest- any staff that would like to enter may and will be recused from judging.
• Each writer can submit a maximum of three entries.
• The contest opens immediately and will run until May 25th.

CRITERIA

• Entries must be new, approvable location submissions with [Netherworld] in the title.
• Entries will be judged on criteria such as: Quality, Effort, Creativity, Usability, and how well they adhere to the Theme (Netherworld).
• These locations must be in the Netherworld or Rifts to or from the Netherworld. This can include large regions, specific locations, etc. These templates are eligible for this contest: Structure, Geographic Landmark, City, and the new Rift Template. No military bases, star ports, etc.
• For non-Rift entries, you may utilize the following addition to the templates to flesh out some of the unique factors of existence in the Netherworld. These fields are optional, to help give other writers a starting point for their experiences in these unique locations. They can be added in to the existing templates. These are just starting points, you are encouraged to include whatever information that is necessary to best explain the features of your location.

NETHERWORLD INFORMATION

• Gate: [ Does this place have its own passageway to real-space? Maybe it has a gate to another netherworld region or something entirely else. You may link to canon or chaos locations here if desired. ]
• 
  Lucidity: [ How coherent and as expected do things occur in this location? Do things mostly follow the general laws of the outside galaxy? Or is it more dreamlike and disjointed? ]
  
• 
  Hostility: [ What are the denizens of this location like when approached by outsiders? Are they passive and welcoming? Apathetic? Or are they hostile and dangerous? Is the landscape itself actively hostile and dangerous? What can a visitor expect to be greeted with upon their arrival? ]

WINNERS

• The top ranking entries will be included on the new, upcoming Netherworld map for Chaos.
• All entries (and future Netherworld location submissions) will be usable locations for Chaos RPs.

Are we restricted to locations only? Could we write about sith artifacts that are hidden away in the Nether? Big predatory Sithspawn that roam it? An unfortunate NPC who has become trapped there? I know the contest is meant to help add locations to the Nether but these sort of things could help spice up those locations.

I think that would just come in external RP. The contest as you know is just Netherworld Locations. If you sub a Nether, you're free to throw in some custom Nether-specific artefacts and species I assume. Or in any other way. Adding species to someone else's approved sub or whatever, just like a normal planet or location.

There are no restrictions to subbing things from the Netherworld in Codex. But the contest itself is strictly for locations.
