Intent: to create a non-lethal form of crowd control
Development Thread: If Needed
Manufacturer: Raxis Mercenaries and Independent Arms
Model: CMO2-06
Affiliation: Raxis Mercenaries and Independent Arms
Modularity: moderate; color can be changed
Production: mass-produced
Material: assorted chemicals (Carbon monoxide, Tear gas, air-born chloroform, dye coloring)
Strengths:
++Airborne: Chemical CMO2-06 disperses into the air, meaning using it as easy as dropping it into the localized area
++Non-lethal : CMO2-06 subdues without doing real damage--sure it stings and what not but no harm is done except in very extreme cases. Thus, it is the ideal candidate for non-lethal crowd control.
++Obscures sight: sorta a natural by product of a fog-like substance being released into the air, CMO2-06 obscures visual readings. This isn't really anything special, its kinda just what happens when you start obscuring light with a dense fog-like substance.
Weaknesses:
--Airborne: strong winds make using this pretty unrealistic. Also anyone wearing armor with an airfilter or protective gear with said filter will not be effected
--Indiscriminatory: The effects of CMO2-06 affect all sides, regardless of who deployed it or not.
--Droids not effected: the CMO2-06 doesn't bother droids. Those who do not breath (like givin) are not effected by the drowsy effect of this chemical.
Description:
When it comes to ruling a planet or political control, civil unrest is inevitable. Riots will occur, either caused by malicious political enemies or rightfully deserved through political mistakes. Either way, the worst thing to do is take lethal action against the civilians. Not only does it stir up further conflict, it's counter productive, a crime, but it also gives reason for unwanted external interference that makes thinks worse.

To fix these things, RMIA designed the CMO2-06. The mixture of gases within this concoction are harmless, but their effects are generally universal. The tear gas is a strong irritant that affects the eyes, nasal, and lung passages. The effect is harmless, as previously stated but effective in helping subdue the subject. However, some species have an incredibly high pain tolerance and would still continue after such. To help ensure submission, the air-born chloroform when inhaled induces unconsciousness after exposure. Once again, this is non-lethal. The only possibly dangerous chemical in this concoction is the third, which exists in very small amounts in this mixture. The carbon monoxide helps to slow the oxygen in the users body, expediting the chloroform's effects. Dying from this small amount of Carbon monoxide is pretty much impossible, still RMIA refuses to take responsibility for negligent use of this tool.
True, some Force users may be able to slow the effects of this on their body, shield from it, or plainly hold their breath to counter act it, however the obscene amount of concentration it takes to do so over time will take as much of a toll on the person as breathing CMO2-06 itself.

Also of note, CMO2-06 is an airborne weapon. It is strongly affected by the winds and will disperse over time. As such the user should prepare, act and plan accordingly. There are no pathogens or poisons in this therefore it meets every possible moral, ethical, and war covenant in the galaxy. Only one in 7 million who are effected will die from exposure, making it preferable to blaster shots or beating rioters into submission. All in all its just a gas concoction intended to resolve crowd control in a non-lethal way.

Hi [member="Ardgal Raxis"]! I will be reviewing this submission. Most everything looks fine to me except the below.

obscures visual, infrared, and ultraviolet readings.
  • Judging by the description and materials this is pretty standard tear gas. In order for this to disrupt infrared or ultraviolet readings it would need to change the targeted area in temperature either up or down to a significant degree (to obscure heat signatures) as well as somehow give off some type of UV, gamma, or electromagnetic radiation to obscure ultraviolet readings.

  • Looks like you may have forgotten to finish this statement.
