Capital-Strength - The weapon was designed to have as much power as a Capital-class Single Cannon Turbolaser, but make it smaller, and the power halved into each turbolaser cannon - Weaknesses:
Slow Fire Rate - The weapon requires recharging after each shot. With its power, it needs a lot of charge before firing again
Sensitive Mechanics - The gun has a single main Capacitor that helps force out most of its power, and it is fragile to EM weaponry and physical forces, which is way the gun has its' own housing until needing to be fired, being extended out from the hull and from under retractable armor plating
The 'CM Thranix-class Dual Turbolaser Cannon' was a special design, made solely for the Doctors ship. The very same doctor that created Vixley, their medical facility, and few other experiments. The gun was special ordered by an unknown individual, but the parts and components necessary were bought from many sources. The gun was assembled, along with other custom parts to bring everything together, in the same docking bay that the ship, the gun was created for, was modified and assembled. Being the main and only offensive weapon for the large modified ship, it gave it an edge when encountering larger ships. But the gun design wasn't made to spearhead a fleet, or take on enemy ships alone. The weapons design made it so any ordinary and similar size ship would have to think twice in attacking it, but the ship was still modified and designed to escape.
The weapon draws power from the new and modified power core within the ship, along with all other systems, excluding backup or emergency generators. Its power consumption forced the gun to fire very slowly, since the charge was so large and conversion was slow so the rest of the ship would not become compromised during charging. Like in other blaster/laser cannon designs, the gun was built slightly different but similar. While larger weapons used gas and power to first create the beam, with gas assisting after creation, the gun uses more power after creation to increase the strength, and thickness of the laser. Multiple Capacitor Banks help after creation, but the large Capacitor fields the boosted power.
The weapon is, unfortunately, very fragile. If a small starfighter or ship were to bump against the gun, even with a shield up, the gun would become damaged and unable to fire. Thankfully, the mechanisms for the gun to exit and enter its housing are not as fragile. Retracting the gun back into its housing, and the armor plating door to extend out and cover the gun, allows for a pressurization of the guns housing. This, along with engineering in the guns housing, allows for quick and easily accessible repairs.
