ANy-20 Active Sensor Transceiver: Used for communications and light jamming in case they scan for hanger bays and other entities. (x)
ANs-9.5w Wide Range Sensor System: A wide range sensor system used to detect starships in the vicinity, up to 100km of its current location. Used for detecting starships in their immediate area. (x)
Hyperdrive Signal Interceptor: The Hyperdrive Signal Interceptor detects flucations in the local area though not of its destination nor the type of ship. This sensor is used for detecting starships entering cargo yards or restricted locations.(x)
Sonic Scanner: The Sonic Scanner is attached below the containor and scans medium range transmissions for capture and decoding. This was more of an afterthought after considering if caught in patrols, perhaps wanting to hear the commanders order on capture or release. (x)

Strengths:
  • Who Suspects an Innocent Container: From a distance till in 1KM of range, it appears to be an ordinary Class-J Cargo Container.
  • Overwhelming Surprise: When Starfighters or Light Freighters come into range and are hostile, the two squads of fighters fly out of their hanger bays and weapon systems on board the Class-J Cargo Container come online to open fire.
  • Communications Post: Unattended consequence, the Class-J Trap Container has enough communications equipment to detect and decode enemy or suspicious transmissions.
Weaknesses:
  • We Containers Never Move on Our Own!: Just like a regular cargo container, it never moves. It has no hyperdrive, no maneuvering thrusters, no engines...nothing!
  • Useless against Capital Ships: It has not enough firepower to combat ships of its own size or larger, requiring the Starfighters to fight for it.
  • Fragile Interior: Any blasterfire inside could result in hull breaches and make it extremely dangerous to fight inside. More so, all occupants have to be careful of maneuvering ships else it could tear a hole in the container into space itself.

Description:

A recent rash of Piracy attacks and cargo container theft led to an unusual development. Gathering ship designers in the Metal Lords, they discussed methods to be used to stop these thefts while also keeping cargo fields defensible. It was decided to reconvert the largest cargo container available for its type, the Class-J Cargo Container. After several hours, it was decided to include an ANy-20 Active Sensor Transceiver, ANs-9.5w Wide Range Sensor System, Hyperdrive Signal Interceptor and a Sonic Sensor for sensory equipment.

In addition, it needed armament in addition to its unusually extreme hanger bay design, it was also decided to add minimal armament that would be a threat to Starfighters getting to close. Four AG-2G Quad Laser Turret were added on the top and bottom corners of the Class-J Trap Container. There was a little room remaining on the top sides of the Container so it was decided to add two concussive missile launchers on both sides, allowing for a means to keep it away from its Hanger Bays.

The decision to kill Life Support was given due to the Metal Lords massive use of Droids, allowing for the Class-J Cargo Container to be almost dormant with nearly no signs for over a month before supplies be brought it in and a rotation of staff. However this also meant anything organic staying on board would have to requsition equipment to keep oxygen running in their room of choice and a heat generator.
