Choose Your Fate

Was that something people would learn in the Sith? To not fear culling the species and society from those that were weak? Token wasn’t so keen on that, she was, after all, trained for humanitarian and health care. The safety of people meant something to her; the safety of as many as she could protect.

Watching the lightsaber become active, made Token take a step back. It was definitely more intense in person, not like it was in the holovids. Those flicks made them seem dangerous, but powerful, and mystical. When they were really around, that was something completely different. And it definitely was one way to clear a room. Probably would work great at shopping malls.

But this was serious. Looking up to Paega, the blonde finally got to her feet. “Yeah… that’s a bit better.” They’d be fine on the escape pods, right? Of course they would!

Paega gave an amused smile. Every passengers except the pilots were now onboard the escape pods, and the blonde Sith walked over to a nearby console that released the pods out into space. From what it appeared, those escape pods would land on a nearby planet.

"Finally, now we can be on our way." she said, and a few seconds later, the shuttle they were onboard jumped into lightspeed, headed towards Imperial space. "Where's your bags?" Paega asked Token. "I've got a feeling that this shuttle will be shot down when we get near Korriban's defenses. We'll have to land on the planet using that escape pod." she informed her, motioning for her to load her bags onto the last remaining pod.

Looking out the viewport, Token nodded. Well, there was that to consider now, that everything was working out. People were safe, and the pilot… what about them? Token knew a piece of flying, but her ability in flying was more similar to the sort of side-saddle riding on a mounted beast. Not really all that well.

She did nod to Paega. “I suppose we can.” And bags? Right, bags. She had one bit of luggage, just a dufflebag. Most things she didn’t take with her, plus her father would buy her whatever she would need. Or he would have. She still had inheritance, and her parent’s credit balances, a fresh start would do her good. “Shot down?” That was a thing? She looked to the escape pod and nodded slowly.

"We're onboard a shuttle that is supposed to be headed to the Republic, Token. Ofcourse they'll shoot this piece of metal down, or something like that." Paega replied simply, and led the other blonde girl by the arm into the escape pod with Token's dufflebag.

The blonde Sith would use the Force to detach themselves away from the shuttle, and just in time as well. Now being quite close to Korriban's atmosphere, Imperial partol ships had positioned themselves right behind the shuttle, not noticing the escape pod. In a flash of green light, the Imperial fighters then blasted the shuttle that they were onboard just a few seconds ago into pieces. Paega directed her focus now to the planet below.

"So... you happen to know how to land an escape pod?" she asked Token.

The girl could be dense. A ditz, most of the time. Even on good days. That was the real problem, wasn’t it? Token nodded. “You make a good point.” She couldn’t help but laugh at herself a little. Really, who wouldn’t shoot this down? The poor Republic.

Even if Waters Shipping Limited didn’t really care who they shipped for, as long as they were paid. Not too many loyalties, even if they were, what her father called, the good guys.

Getting herself into the escape pod, something she had a lot of familiarity with, because of her father’s overprotective nature, she watched as they detached. Right, so that could’ve been them, in that shuttle. How did they miss the pod? The Force? Luck? Some sort of code word?

“Land? Of course! My dad made sure of that.” She smiled, getting behind the rudimentary controls. “Anywhere you want us?”

Paega let out an approving nod when Token offered to land their pod. It wasn't that the Sith Knight didn't know how to land an escape pod. Rather, it was that she tended to crash-land most of the time she tried.

"Excellent. Land us near the Sith Academy, if you can see it, that is. It shouldn't be too hard to miss. There's not much more down on that planet." the blonde Sith said, gazing out of the window as they entered the atmosphere. Paega then realized this could be used as Token's first lesson. "I want you to not use any of the navigation. Instead, use the Force to tell you what path to take to get to your destination.." she said.

There were a few things the blonde could do. It might not have made sense, but she needed to be able to survive, that was what her father had told her. Medical school was okay, and, well… she learned a few. Just to keep herself out of trouble. And, she could make the pod not seem like it was crashing. Well, at least it didn’t feel like that in sims.

The Sith Academy. That was right, this was happening. But still, she had bigger issues on hand at this moment. Sure, as long as people were in crash positions, they’d be fine in the pod, but the rudimentary controls allowed for a bit of steering. Raising an eyebrow she nodded.

“Right. Temple.” Right, Force. She took a deep breath. Just mimicking what she’d seen on holovids, that was how she was going to do this right now. Taking what she felt was just an idea and making small modifications to the current flight plan. This was going to be tricky.

Once they broke through the clouds, however, there it was. A temple. Still, felt really far away. “Sorry, but I think we’re going to be walking some!” Good job Token.

"...if we survive this, that is." Paega said grimly, watching out the window as the ground approached faster and faster. The Sith Academy was coming in view, and the blonde Sith hoped that they didn't crash into the structure itself. That would be very bad.

She closed her eyes, and let Token do the piloting. It sounded to Paega as though the other blonde was quite confident on how to land the pod. Still, she felt a need to make sure that they didn't smash at full speed onto the ground. Reaching out to the Force, the blonde Sith attempted to somehow slow down their descent. "Alright Token, you've got this." Paega said encouragingly. They only had about several hundred feet of ground left.

Was she that bad of a pilot? Well, maybe. But space was really empty, most of the time. Sure, Token wasn’t going to be flying into combat anytime soon, but she could drive her own personal shuttle. And not break anything too badly. Token didn’t feel they’d hit the structure, but it was probably a point of concern sooner or later.

“We’ll be fine.” Ish. She still kept a smile on her face, even if the Sith could read her real feelings.

Confident might be too much of an overstatement. Nodding to her companion, Token let a grin creep across her face. Adrenaline was creeping up, was the thing. She still nodded, starting to angle the pod and release the flaps. Time to get a little more control. “Brace for impact. Fifteen…” She started counting down, working on getting the pod into a horizontal trajectory.

Paega felt through the Force Token was not feeling overly confident. The blonde Sith Knight wasn't so sure if that was a good thing or not. Overconfidence wasn't good, but neither was being under-confident. Paega trusted that the other blonde would be able to land successfully.

Even if something went wrong, Paega could still protect them both with some help from the Force. "You've got this..." the Sith Knight repeated for the second time as Token began counting down. She saw that they would barely miss the academy building, and would land on a sandy surface. Hopefully it would be smooth, otherwise they would be vaporized in an explosion if they set down too quickly.

She had some confidence, sometimes. But when Token felt bad about herself, she felt really bad about herself. She wanted to prove herself. But really, it had been less than a week since she witnessed something she created kill her family. She couldn’t handle that for long. She needed to know it was for something. That there was a reason that happened. If she could find her answers that would go a long way.

She was going to get them down in one piece. She had too. She had this. The blonde bit her lip, concentrating and steering the pod as best she could with the thrusters and flaps. “Brace! Three, two…” She barely got started on the one as they hit the dirt, softer than she was expecting. When the pod slowed down she nodded. “One.”

That was less bad than she was expecting. That was something, right?

It came as a relief when Paega realized they weren't dead after having made contact with the ground. "Excellent... Great job, Token." the blonde Sith Knight remarked as their landing pod slowed down. The pod shook heavily, though, and it was a bumpy ride until it stopped. After they came to a stop, Paega extended her arms and let out a Force Push, blowing the door of the escape pod out of its hinges. The dusty air of Korriban immediately filled up the pod.

With a light hop Paega jumped out of from the escape pod, glad to be back on the ground. All around them were sand dunes, and some distance away was the Sith Academy. "Well, welcome to Korriban." she announced.

With the touchdown made, even Token was smiling. She gripped the controls of the pod hard as they touched and the pod lurched. Right, that was supposed to happen. She knew that much. And at least they didn’t end up rolling. That would’ve complicated stuff. Once it stopped moving, she turned to Paega, who had already pushed the door off. A wonderful trick.

Making sure to grab her duffle, Token followed the other blonde, looking around. Right, she traveled across the Republic for this? Giving a soft and low whistle, she surveyed the dusty world. “Now, there is something about this place, isn’t there?” She couldn’t help but feel it.
