LFG Checking Interest : New Jedi Group

Right now I think there are a few people pushing around some ideas in the wake of GA deciding to go minor. I think it’s a good time to explore so I have been tossing out ideas as well.

I’ve been talking to a few people about restarting the Silver Jedi Order. I’ve spoken to a few of the active writers from the faction and I’ve checked to make sure it’s okay with staff.

So now I’m going to the larger board and asking if this is something people would want to do? If not, is there some other type of Jedi group you would like to see? I would be open to brainstorming.

Like I said there are a few other people also working on some ideas too so we may see more Jedi activity even without this idea.

Just thought I’d see if people were interesting in something

There seems to be a lot of interest in various jedi groups.

I'm trying to start back up a Bokken order, the NJO is still trying to do it's thing, and you're now trying to do this.

It's probably best we consolidate at some point, but the story I'm trying to tell isn't conducive with a traditional jedi group.

More jedi who don't find a place in the traditional mold of a jedi. I wanted to put a lot of emphasis on jedi outcasts, and those who aren't your typical do-gooers.

That is pretty cool. I think thats probably different enough from NJO or this idea that it could exist separately. These seem more large traditional. Unless I got it wrong? Don’t mean to assume.

No, that's definitely the intent. Jonyna wants to strike out from the NJO and try to go back to her roots as a rebel, and wants to encourage others to take that path. Her belief is that the NJO was too tied up in GA politics to be an effective thwart to the new era of darkness.

That seems like a solid enough idea that wouldn’t clash with this or NJO etc. I’d say go for it and don’t worry about consolidating. Unless I’m missing something.

I just wanted to gauge interest and see what Jedi writers are feeling right now. I know Lily Decoria also said she’s gonna get some PVP stuff going that sounds awesome too.

I like continuation and site history. The Silver Jedi defeated the Sith Empire, and fought the Mandalorians (when they were at their strongest), so their return to the website would be cool. On the other hand, as someone who predominantly writes the opposition to Jedi characters and the factions they are aligned to, it would be far more preferable if everyone on the opposite side could come together under one house because that would be more contusive to roleplay.

I’d love to see some unity too but I think that’s a bit hard right now. We seem to have a lot of splinter groups, which isn’t bad. I think everyone should get to tell the story they want. Just not sure how to turn that into unity ya know?

I’m not sure about the silvers coming back though vs being like a new group? I don’t know the entire history and I’d hate to step on it.

honestly, the biggest problem right now is that all the old NJO writers have been burnt out on writing for majors. Everyone wants to tell their story without having to worry about invasions, or just general faction bullshit.

We've reached the point where the people who are interested in the map game are the ones who kicked the GA off the map, but not any of the old GA writers themselves.

Thus is the problem with the map game. Factions don't die when they get kicked off the map, they die when you burn their writer base out.

I did post an idea about a Jedi United Nations group before. That idea was to try to find some type of unity because it would be a group where every splinter group was represented and tried to work together.

I know a few people liked the idea and might be trying it as well but again it’s hard to do that if others don’t want to. Don’t want to force anybody who doesn’t want their group affiliated.

To be fair THR does have a solid group of writers doing well with the map. They have Jedi too and are slaying it.

But I do agree there are some Jedi over the map game.

I just wanted to see if anybody wanted to build some new stuff.

Anyways I like to start discussions to see what ideas people are drawn too. They don’t always end in a group but I think it’s fun to talk about.

I'd encourage you to do what you think its fun. If that's SJO 2.0 go for it. Yes there are a lot of light-aligned groups floating around (THR, THP, NJO, WSR, DIA, even the Mandalorians have their own Knights now.)

This is a sandbox for a huuuuge galaxy. Do what you want, don't worry about anyone else's opinion. Go where the RP muse is. If you want to stay off the map game but want to pop in every once in a while, you can pop in THR conflicts. If you need help supporting a specific project, just hit me up, always around.
