SPECIAL FEATURES

Strengths:
  • Nimble: Able to dart in and out and make rapid direction adjustments, the Chaos-Blade Starfighters are able to outmaneuver most other generic Interceptors. This allows it to create a difficult target to hit as well as ensuring the ability to stay on an enemy's tail once it settles in behind them.
  • Asymmetrical: In some designs asymmetry might be a weakness, but because of it the vessels are able to be stored efficiently, allowing them to be designated into squadrons of 14 instead of the standard 12.
  • Intimidating: The design, while providing additional storage options was not the only factor in its construction. An aggressive hull shape and a distinct aural signature are easily recognizable. If the vessel flies in relative close proximity to the ground, it has been said that the sound of a thousand tormented souls can be heard as it passes overhead. In reality, it has more to do with the way the air flaps are designed however as one could imagine, hearing terrorized wails while these fighters fly overhead is sure to unsettle anyone not used to the rigors of war.
  • Unobstructed View: One of the benefits of providing less armor and less focus on defensive capabilities is an extremely clear view. Unhindered by armor plating or blast protection, the cockpit of the Chaos-Blade Starfighter provides a near 360* view of the void, allowing the pilot to track targets and adjust their course more effectively than a more armored starfighter might be able to.
Weaknesses:
  • Lightly Shielded: Mass Produced as an interceptor, the vessel wasn't designed with pilot survivability as a hallmark. As such, its shields are designed to survive only a couple of hits before failing, the thought being that by that time the fighter should be able to outmaneuver its pursuer and return fire.
  • Delicate Frame: Designed with weight in mind, the Chaos-Blade Starfighter is constructed with an Alusteel frame. While it does wonders for its maneuverability, it also means that kinetic contact is particularly dangerous and once the ship is damaged, it loses near all ability to fly. Unlike many other starfighters, when the Chaos-Blade crash lands, there's little more than shrapnel left. Survivability of the pilot is next to zero.
  • Power Distribution: Due to the small size of the interceptor and the power draw on its systems, it is unable to simultaneously fully charge its weapons and its shields. While firing, it becomes particularly vulnerable. Likewise, if it is boosting power to the engines, its weapons and shielding becomes degraded.
Description:

The Chaos-Blade Starfighter was designed as a mass produced interceptor, able to hunt down and terrorize shipping lanes as well as provide a swarm style fighter for use by the Lords of Chaos and her forces of the void. Chaos-Blade pilots are often thought to have a 'screw loose', their tactics aggressive and almost reckless. The vessels have very little in the way of shielding or pilot protection, therefore when a pilot reaches no less than five missions he is considered a veteran, awarded with a special device worn on his uniform.

The fighter itself is easy to produce, weapons fixed to the hull - it does however offer some modularity. The fighter can be equipped with two heavy laser cannons or two ion cannons, though the configuration cannot be mixed and the modifications must occur in a hangar, interchanging in the field is not possible and requires significant hands on work. An additional modification to the fighter creates a horrific noise when flown in-atmosphere. The sound of a thousand tormented souls - or so it's been told. Flying over civilian populations or over green recruits is likely to instill a measure of fear, however this is entirely subject to the individual.

The ratings you have on your starfighter are too high for mass production. Lowering production to limited would get you what you want.

Here's an example we provide the in the template for an elite starfighter at limited production:
