Dominion Changes in Attitude - HR Dominion of Kattada

And a touch of the blues
LpoZzUQ.png
The world of Kattada had long paid service to the Jedi. The Temple here was founded by none other than the infamous Jedi Master Coren Starchaser, directed towards his ultimate goal of exploring the galaxy and providing a home for people to learn the more hidden and arcane Jedi skills. A temple built on one of the larger islands, overlooking the sea, and being neighbored by, and protected by several settlements of other Force users in service of the Light who call the world home, namely Witches and even a Jensaarai covert.

While there are depths to the temple, the Exploration Corps headquarters and sanctuary settlement for refugees are the biggest draws of this Temple. A Jedi Service Corp location in a galaxy determined to make warriors out of everyone. The line of those who serve the Light and those who actually wield the Force is blurred at this location. And sitting on the borders of the Sith Covenant puts this location in harms way.

Determined to be a better station, the new leader of the Enclave, Jedi Master Vodet, has determined that the Enclave will specialize in a public facing ‘Form Zero’, of being peaceful, and slipping away to live another day. Pilots and exploration teams are given ships with packages that make it faster and safer to flee than to fight. However, that is all about to change.

With the Covenant in the wings, there are strikes of pirates, Sith pretenders, and warlords trying to make profit from the wars of the Republic, Covenant, and Mandalorians. As a waystation, and a beacon for lost spacers in the time after the Planeshift, donors and Jedi sympathizers have been providing the Enclave with ships to carry on its missions. The Arrival in force of the High Republic granted more technology, more bodies, and more of a unified mission for the world.

Objective One: Safe at Sea - Working with the Exploration Corps of the Jedi Order, pilots are tasked with finding alternative ways in and out of the greater neighborhood of Kattada. Pilots are given directions and destinations, getting refugees out of future war zones.

toMnthP.png

Objective Two: Protective Cove - The Jedi Service Corps are delivering food stuffs, prefabricated structures, and medical expertise to outlying systems and moons that have recently been under siege. Assisting the locals with finding lost people, providing needed support and generalized assistance in the rebuild of war torn worlds.

Objective Three: Hunters become the Hunted - With the High Republic arriving in force, while the world of Kattada is now becoming a staging area due to the more rural nature of the world. Military units are securing the local systems for future protection.

The world was beautiful and Ayumi was finishing, the outfit she had chosen was in three stages for this and designed to function as she looked at the Kattada Coral Diver Robes that had been made for Coren long ago. The force energies gleamed within them as she could see it but they were protective and made under the Aerial to Aquatic Airframe that she was using and rolled her shoulders. A smile appearing though while she was in orbit of the planet in one of the Fandar Transports. The expo had showed them and while not picked, Denon snatched the design up for the compact design. Ayumi was moving as she looked towards hopefully the others who could come with her down to the world.

"Come on." Ayumi's voice was quiet, more for herself than anyone else. She stood at the edge of the transport's open airlock, the deck vibrating faintly beneath her boots. Behind her, the pilot gave a curt nod from the cockpit. The airlock cycled with a hiss of equalizing pressure, and the last thread of artificial gravity released its hold as the outer door peeled back. Below, filling nearly the whole view, was the water world a seamless expanse of deep blue and pale turquoise, its surface unbroken by land, only the occasional white smear of a slow-spinning storm. Her amusement was there and the chance to give Rojuhr Pouihl Rojuhr Pouihl a small heart attack was always needed.

Ayumi wore a sleek aerial dive suit, form-fitted and ivory white with golden Denon trim, its surface a seamless matrix of materia-lattice and adaptive material. No bulk, no loose straps just a second skin of engineered fabric that followed every line of her robed frame. She stepped onto the threshold. With a soft mechanical sigh, the face mask rose from the collar and sealed against her features with a click. Her own reflection warped across the smart glass for a moment, then vanished behind a cascade of data: oxygen pressure, hull integrity, waypoint markers. A glowing dot on the HUD marked her descent vector through the atmosphere and into the ocean below.

She stepped off. The sudden absence of deck plating beneath her feet and the stomach-drop of free fall. The transport's engines fired once to pull away, leaving her alone in the silence of low orbit. Gravity took over immediately. At first, the fall felt deceptively slow, the water world's curve barely changing. But within seconds, the horizon swelled, the blue expanse growing from a marble to a wall. The dive suit's friction-dampening field kicked in, a low hum running through the material as the first wisps of atmosphere began to drag at her. Streamers of plasma bled off her shoulders and legs, orange and brief, as she hit the upper air. The HUD recalibrated, showing altitude and speed in crisp white numbers that climbed fast.

Through the faceplate, the sky shifted from black to deep purple to a hazy, burning blue. The wind arrived like a physical blow. The suit held firm, but she could feel the pressure building, the rush of compressed air roaring past the mask. Below, the ocean was no longer a distant feature but a textured sheet of gunmetal gray, rolling with swells she could now resolve individually. At this speed, hitting the surface would be like hitting concrete. She waited, counting down the kilometers on the HUD. At two hundred meters, she raised her right arm. The forearm launcher, compact and integrated into the suit, fired a single compressed-energy round.

The shot streaked down and struck the water a hundred meters ahead of her entry point. A burst of steam and displaced water erupted upward, carving a temporary crater in the ocean's skin. Surface tension shattered. She hit the center of the disturbance. The impact drove through her, a hard compression that the suit's spinal dampeners absorbed just enough to keep her conscious. Water and foam roared around her, and then silence. Not true silence, but the muffled, heavy thrum of being submerged. Bubbles streamed past her visor, catching the fractured light from above. The pressure gauge spiked, then settled. The suit's thermal systems hummed, adjusting to the cool deep.

Ayumi oriented herself, arms out, legs together, letting the current take her momentum. Above, the hole in the water sealed itself with a final frothy gurgle. The water world closed over her, and she focused on it... allowing the aerial suit to eject from her as she was within the ethereal robes. White and icy blue as they shimmered for a moment. She focused the force through them and hung there for a moment suspended. Then the robes shifted and almost formed onto the skin while enclosing her head and face. The snout forming with teeth, webs between her fingers and she had fins at her feet where the robes sealed over her dive suit. Giving her a sharks look when she started to swim.

MULXvZg.png

"She has fully lost her mind."

The observation was to no one in particular as Verity Stuyveris watched the Senator for Denon step out the airlock and immediately plummet out of sight. That, Verity could almost have tolerated. After all, it was just her. If something happened to Ayumi Pallopides, that would be very tragic of course, but it was Ayumi choosing to do what Ayumi wanted to do and facing the consequences of what looked like would almost certainly be terminal velocity.

No, what suggested to Verity that her friend had taken leave of her senses was that she had supplied Verity and others with a similar sort of get-up and was anticipating that they would join her.

And even more ludicrously, Verity had not said no. She had not said yes, either, but had agreed to allow herself to be dressed up and strapped in and, now, maneuvered toward the airlock.

"My will has been updated," she murmured to herself. "My office has continuity programs in place until the next election." Verity crept toward the edge of the airlock from whence Ayumi had dropped. "Light help me," she murmured. She clicked the commlink on and then -- fearing that Ayumi would not thank her to have her ear filled with the sound of Verity's shrieking all the way down -- clicked it off again.

Right. Now or never.

Verity took a deep breath and stepped into nothing.

The least said about the freefall, the better. Verity followed the safety briefing as for how to operate on the approach -- if you could call streaking toward the water at an eyewatering speed an 'approach' -- and soon she was swimming along, looking for Ayumi. She clicked the comlink on. "Wait for me, Ayumi," she said dryly into the channel. "Still getting my sea legs. Um. Fins?"

Captain’s Log Supplemental…

The drivers of the Walker he affectionately named “Crownbreaker” just looked at him like he had 3 heads wondering what he was doing, RG-11, or “Regal” as he called himself just laughed. Relax boys, we’re all among friends here.

The Co-pilot removed her helmet to ask what he was doing. Regal showed a rare moment of humility, especially with the mirror next to him. Oh, wow… my bad. I don’t know, I just felt like saying it… “To boldly go…” ah nevermind. Watch the store, I’m going to check on our guest.

It was there that the change in Regal was noticeable. Sure, around his crew, he could be goofy, or silly (bored) but he was smart, smart enough to be professional when back in the cargo hold. Especially with a Jedi on board.

Master Jedi, welcome aboard the 17th column forward group walker, I affectionately call “Crownbreaker. All cargo looks to be secure, sir. He walked around the supplies that they were carrying and the crew that would unload it, offering salutes and handshakes, a truly respectable host.

When he approached the Jedi “Aiden Porte and a few others, he again saluted. We’re making good time from the dropzone to our staging area. We should be there within the next 30 standard minutes. Regal's demeanor shifted subtly, showing respect and focus as he ensured everything was in order. His professionalism underscored his ability to adapt to the situation, balancing his usual lightheartedness with the gravity of hosting a Jedi, emphasizing the importance of their mission and the responsibilities at hand.

We're making great time from the Landing Zone to our Staging area. We should be there within the next 30 minutes or so. Would you like to come to the front and watch out approach?

[/div]

17th Column Forward Group
Vehicle Designation: Heavy Walker “Crownbreaker”
Reporting Officer: RG-11 “Regal”
Attached Personnel: Jedi Master Aiden Porte and accompanying support elements
Mission Status: En Route / Supplies Secure / Morale Questionably Excellent

Following successful departure from the designated drop zone, the 17th Column Forward Group proceeded toward the assigned staging area aboard the walker informally designated “Crownbreaker.” All mission-critical cargo was confirmed secured within the hold, with crew members assigned to unloading details briefed and prepared for deployment upon arrival.

Estimated time to staging area at time of report was thirty standard minutes. Transit conditions remained stable, with no immediate mechanical concerns reported by the driver team, despite their continued suspicion that command personnel may occasionally narrate their own lives for dramatic effect.

Jedi Master Aiden Porte and accompanying personnel were received aboard without incident. Proper honors and formal courtesies were observed. The presence of Jedi command was acknowledged with appropriate respect, and the cargo hold was personally inspected to ensure operational readiness, crew discipline, and the absence of anything that might explode before it was officially supposed to.

Crew morale remains high. Possibly too high. This will be monitored.

Overall, “Crownbreaker” and her crew remain on schedule, supplied, combat-ready, and prepared to support forward operations upon arrival at the staging area. The walker continues to serve as a mobile command, supply, and morale platform for the 17th Column, proving that even under field conditions, professionalism and a little theatrical timing are not mutually exclusive.

Filed by: RG-11 “Regal”
Final Note: If anyone asks, the “Captain’s Log” remark was for morale purposes only. Probably.

Stepping out of the shuttle as it touched down just beyond the staging area, Koris found a degree of amusement in the towering walkers nearby. Though he would never willingly pilot one himself, he nevertheless held a certain respect for those capable of operating such machines.

Taking a moment to orient himself, Koris checked the small datapad in his hand for the location of a pirate band he had been tracking throughout the system for the past several days. Once he had pinpointed their position, the Alcedian male set off in that direction.

And a touch of the blues
The High Republic representatives were coming and that meant that there was a lot to be done. Having the extra hands was going to be a boon, but also a serious concern for many of the residents of Kattada. Hopefully, like most worlds that fly the Republic flag, they’d come in, offer some support, fix a few outlying problems, and make some promises that they would most likely keep.

There were pirates, and being this close to the Core, it meant that there were Sith not far away. And defenses could be shored up, for certain. Vodet wasn’t too worried about that. He had witches and Jedi on this world. But for now? He’d let the Republic do what the Republic did. And he’d let the Jedi do what they did.

And he’d find his place.

Currently, he was loading up ships, blankets, clean water, food, medical supplies, all the essentials for some of the outer worlds near Kattada that didn’t have enough infrastructure, or the right connections to ensure their own survival and safety. They were being sent out in some high end transports with a fighter or two escort.

All the while, one of the Mon Cal Padawans was directing people out from Kattada, explorers into the unknown. Working on finding hidden worlds and hidden paths. Most in the direction of the Rim, all away from the Sith territories. The goals? Find paths for Jedi to slip around the galaxy undetected. Find paths for smugglers and those pilots who had the means and drive of helping those that needed it.

Looking around the Hangar, Vodet afforded those with him a slight smile. Well, as much as a Yinchorri could. Loading crates, helping others fuel up ships, the sounds of clanking and whine of fuel pumps met with pilots bickering with repair crews, the tweets of astromechs wandering back and forth, all the while ships were taking off and coming and going.

Witches giving non-denominational blessings, or connecting pilots with trinkets that they swore they needed to have. While others were making sure certain vegetables and fruits weren’t going on ships to certain worlds.

Someone had to keep the balances.

Aiden took a deep breath, as he opened his eyes. The task of centering himself with the force became second nature. Focus, clarity, and hope. It was enough to cleanse the darkest of pits and provide light through the dark beyond. It had been his saving graces for almost eight years now. He preached it over and over, and he wouldn't ever stop. Kattada wasn't foreign to him, he recalled a surfing venture he had taken with Vodet at one time. A place that was home to many Jedi and friends alike. It was being brought into the fold.

Aiden gave a smile and respectful bow as RG passed. Aiden couldnt' recall the last time he travelled on one of these things, he couldn't recall if he ever had to be truly honest. So, something new to marvel at and smile about, the child in him, the heart was laughing.

We're making great time from the Landing Zone to our Staging area. We should be there within the next 30 minutes or so. Would you like to come to the front and watch out approach?

"Sounds like a fun time." Aiden spoke as he smirked and moved towards the front. He watched as the Clones operated the Walker with excellent efficiency. Aiden looked over to RG and extended his hand towards him. "Formally, Aiden Porte. It's good to meet you."

Ayumi had a novel idea. It wasn't exactly the place to put it in motion safely, of course, but that wouldn't stop Ayumi. Dominique being the Chancellor couldn't simply jump out of a ship in unsecured space, however. Aurelian might have, but then that man had a reputation for a reason. Nonetheless, Dominique wasn't one to let circumstances dictate her actions. A controlled application might be just what was needed. Another example that the Republic leadership was not something so easily predicted. One that might engage in a little recklessness, but not without forethought.

And, so, Dominique had another ship nearby with a small squad of CTRLd special operatives dressed for the occasion. Also a dropship or two and a capital ship ready to provide cover. A few emergency necessities should one of their enemies somehow become aware of this 'publicity stunt' and seek to pluck the Chancellor right out of the sky with a well-aimed blaster bolt.

"Has she?" Dominique's voice responded over the comm channel to Verity's observation regarding sanity. More so than usual? It wasn't just any Senator that went around trying to seduce all of the beautiful women her eyes fell upon. Or take on the countless industrial and criminal elements of Denon with her improvements (not everyone benefited from a better quality of life).

With the link off, Dominique hadn't heard Verity muttering to herself.

"On my six." With that, the lilac-haired Chancellor rotated over the edge and dropped down after Ayumi. Four silhouettes could be seen streamlined for terminal velocity to catch up with the fearless Senator, with those of those anxious to make sure the Chancellor made it down intact.

This was not a Director's every day activity, but some Directors did have strange hobbies. Dominique couldn't say orbital drops were one of her's, however. Cyber cafe and clubs were her scene not that anyone but Sibylla knew. Aurelian might suspect. He wasn't afraid of visiting Denon, and Dominique's Secretary was hardly District One origin material. Regardless, Dominique had now and again engaged in certain... military maneuvers to demonstrate to those she commanded she wasn't a spineless worm who led solely from behind a desk or the rear. So today was just another little experimentation.

Admittedly, with better company.

Speaking of which, one of the accompanying guards would launch an explosive designed to offer a softer splashdown than Ayumi seemed prepared to weather. Dominique wasn't soft, but back injuries mounted over time. Healing technology was beyond reproach for their social stratum, but it was the principle of the thing. With detonation, the three guards activated a hover mode to take up patrol of the skies above -- they made sure the Chancellor wasn't an easy target, but had orders not to intrude on Ayumi's Underwater Adventure without good reason.

"Ladies, don't lose track of your radars. We can't be certain what we'll find down here."

They were indeed making good time, they always did. He had a great crew and “Crownbreaker” was a fine tuned machine…

I may love a good mirror, but I’m not oblivious.

The low rumble from each step below them offering the security that they were over safe land gave him the confidence to nod back to the loadmaster as he grinned back at Aiden and his thought that watching from the head was a “fun time”. With a gesture to follow, Regal opened the blast door to walk through the neck to the head. Pleasure to meet you, Master Jedi. My designation is RG-11… but my friends call me “Regal”.

When he walked into the “head” or “bridge” or whatever you like to call it, Regal looked right into his favorite thing. His mirror. The wink, the grin and the finger guns were instinctive. Apologies Knight Porte for the show there, just a good luck ritual.

The co-pilot looked back at Aiden when Regal wasn’t looking and countered that.

MISSION SUMMARY
Unit: 17th Column Forward Group
Vehicle Designation: Heavy Walker “Crownbreaker”
Reporting Officer: RG-11 “Regal”
Attached Personnel: Jedi Knight Aiden Porte
Mission Status: En Route / Schedule Maintained / Superstition Operational

Following departure from the initial drop zone, “Crownbreaker” continued its advance toward the designated staging area without delay. The walker maintained steady ground speed over confirmed secure terrain, with all locomotion systems performing within expected tolerances. Crew efficiency remained high, cargo integrity remained uncompromised, and the vehicle continued to prove itself a well-maintained asset under forward operational conditions.

Jedi Knight Aiden Porte was escorted from the cargo compartment to the forward control section for observational purposes. During this transition, RG-11 formally introduced himself by designation and preferred operational name, “Regal,” maintaining appropriate courtesy toward attached Jedi personnel while also clarifying internal crew familiarity standards.

Upon arrival at the forward command section, the reporting officer conducted a brief morale and confidence ritual involving the bridge mirror. The gesture consisted of one wink, one grin, and a set of finger guns directed at his own reflection. This was explained to Knight Porte as a “good luck ritual,” which remains the official description unless command wishes to begin a much longer and less useful investigation.

The co-pilot’s expression indicated that the ritual may be less occasional than stated.

No operational disruption resulted from the incident. Bridge discipline remained intact, navigation remained accurate, and “Crownbreaker” continued toward the staging area on schedule. The Jedi observer was not impeded, alarmed beyond acceptable limits, or struck by any loose confidence ricocheting from the mirror.

Overall, the 17th Column Forward Group remains in good order. “Crownbreaker” is stable, crew morale is strong, and all mission parameters remain green. The reporting officer recommends no corrective action at this time, though covering the mirror may negatively impact command enthusiasm and is therefore not advised.

Ukatis had been a disaster of her own making, but whether this assignment with the Jedi Service Corps was a punishment remained to be seen. Silence from both her Master and her father had stretched on for weeks. They were likely off gallivanting around the galaxy on official Council business, leaving behind only a brief message directing her to Kattada. The instructions promised her Master would meet her here eventually. Waiting for the other shoe to drop was nerve-wracking, especially with the constant, nagging certainty that she was in deep trouble.

To pass the time, Isla wandered the bustling cove under the guise of hard labor. Moving crates at a snail's pace allowed her to observe the busy teams while contributing the bare minimum. The locals and other Corps members chipped in around her. Amber eyes scanned the horizon, searching for any sign of her Master's arrival. If she had to be stranded on a foreign world while awaiting her judgment, Kattada was admittedly a beautiful place to be stuck.

A sharp, sudden tug in the Force shattered her local focus, replaced by the disorienting blur of a vision. The serene coastline dissolved into a chaotic image of approaching shadows and flashing steel. Blinking rapidly to clear the second sight, Isla dropped the small container she was carrying. The peaceful facade of the Enclave felt fragile now, a thin veil hiding the teeth of a predatory galaxy.

"Hey, focus up, we need these medical supplies sorted by dusk," a passing volunteer called out, breaking her trance.

"Right, sorry," Isla muttered, her voice trembling slightly. Honesty was usually her default, but explaining a sudden vision of impending doom would only panic the refugees. She forced her hands to actually work, lifting the next crate with genuine urgency.

The splashes from the other two were a welcomed accompaniment. Dominique had herrr team as well and Verity came down as she was allowing the ocean to breathe around herself. Speaking into the comlink as the conductive design allowed her words to come out with it. "Yes, no one expects a senator airdrop. If the sith or some other hostile force wanted to try and ambush the landing pad.. we are able to surprise and avoid it." She moved, practicing as she pushed forward and surged around... allowing the force to flow through her body but also her limbs to get the practice. Verity's response was fair and Ayumi moved. "Verity just move with it, the motion of the ocean will inform your movements and remember we are right here with you. We have a chance to help people and there might be some exclusive private beach we can find after we help the people or during. Villains and finding the best places always seems to go hand in hand."

The Jedi Knight gave an easy and simple nod, a small smile on his face. "Regal, if you are okay with it. I'll use that." Aiden looked out the front, his eyes scanning what was in front of him. His senses reaching out, briefly as he sensed a calm and dedicated nature. They were indeed trained well, with a strong strength of will.

Aiden took a quick glance towards Regal, and his little display in the mirror. He couldn't help but chuckle.

Feng felt a little giggle and flutter in her heart as she looked down at the orbital drop. One of the benefits of dating and protecting Ayumi was that things were always interesting. Sure they could have just flown in and landed, but where was the fun in that. Feng looked forward to the drop, more than that she looked forward to being home. Kattada was her home as much as anywhere else, it was where she came to relax, get away, be at peace.

A part of her thought it was almost a shame that rural peace was being disrupted, but then she thought of the attack in which she'd been forced to defend her home. She knew it was a good thing that Kattada was gaining more protection. She was doubly grateful that it was Ayumi who was overseeing the transition and form that protection would take. Not only for her personal affections, but because Ayumi was an able administrator to the point of being a visionary. Everything she did was of benefit and to the benefit of others. Kattada was in safe hands.

Then Ayumi was calling her to jump. Feng let out a;

"Wooohoo!"

Of joy as she jumped into free fall. She felt the rush, the thrill, the excitement, as the atmosphere, then air whooshed passed her. The beautiful turquoise of the planets surface came closer, and closer. Feng felt the fierce grin on her face. The only thing better would be dropping into a combat zone. Feng felt the reflexive chiding of herself at the thought, but refused to engage with it She was done feeling bad about enjoying living life on the edge. She had recently decided she could enjoy the thrill of combat while still lamenting the loss of life. Sentient beings were complex creatures able to hold two dichotomy opinions at once.

Ayumi shot her shot. Feng followed her lead. Aiming with ease at the centre of the crater of the water disruption. Feng submerged, and took a moment to take care surroundings. It was deceptive peaceful. She should try free diving sometime she decided. Then she surfaced to swim behind Ayumi, Verity and Dominique.

To say that Verity Stuyveris was no great believer in "just moving with it" would be an understatement. The woman had made a study -- no, a career -- of self-control. As far as she was concerned, sentients had developed the technology to assert dominion over nature. Yet, there she was in the midst of a vast ocean, the currents guiding her along.

It wasn't altogether unpleasant. But she kept her eyes locked on Ayumi. If something went wrong, there would most definitely be some Denon Dependency as she fully anticipated that it would be the Senator's ingenuity and industry that would save her bacon.

"Leave it to you to be looking for an exclusive private beach," Verity quipped. She stretched out, long legs extending behind her, gently kicking to propel herself forward, settling into a loose pattern with the other three women. "Where are we heading?"

The Jedi Knight had selected this mission for herself and her Padawan as an opportunity to do something that was less adrenaline seeking, and a chance to develop a bond more. The conflict on New Cov had demonstrated to Lily that Kito wasn't trusting her still, not accepting the way that Lily was approaching her training, nor the way that Lily figured that they could best work cooperatively. It was not something that Lily was hurt by since she knew that this was not going to be a perfect first Master-Padawan relationship, she doubted that there was ever such a thing. Instead, Lily wanted to just listen and figure out what Kito wanted to learn as well as how Kito saw their training going.

"We need to help sort out the medical supplies as well as fortifying the defensive measures around here. No big battles or combat focused but it is important for Jedi to demonstrate a willingness to help others in ways that is not even combat focused, people will need our help and the solution is not always to use our Lightsabers." Lily mentioned, it was something that Lily had learned as a Padawan since she was always one to be more eager to use her fighting talents to solve an issue than develop a more patient mindset and figure out another solution.

Grabbing a crate of medical supplies, Lily grunted as she used her natural muscles to lift the heavy crate. "It's also a good chance to build some muscles and strength training, in a less formal manner." Lily chuckled as she hauled the crate over to where the medical supplies were being place. Her senses, mind lingered on Kito in hopes that the Padawan might be receptive to discussing how things had been lately. But she also didn't want to push too much if Kito was not in an open mood for such discussions.

Yep, just another easy, simple, no fuss, no muss run of the mill supply drop. No action to speak of, no trouble on the way, just an easy run and a “Aak-Dog and Taun Taun show for the Jedi about how good they are.

I almost wish there was something.

All stop! All stop! Emergency stop!

Reaching over and slamming his hand on the “big red button” all operations ceased immediately, and would take a moment to reinitiate should they wished. The pilos looked back at him, angry at first, but waiting for his explanation.

“Did you see something sir?”

“What happened?”

Regal just pointed out further down on the path. That right there. He pointed to a pack of Nerfs crossing their path well down the road. They were a few hundred meters away, and they were not in any danger, but Regal was not going to risk it. The pilots did not know why, but he did.

“Sir, all due respect…”

“... no… this is stupid. They can easily get out of the way, and they won’t damage us if they don’t.” The co-pilot looked back, clearly not liking the command decision.

We’re waiting until they clear on their own.

The co-pilot barked. “I will be putting this in my report.”

Noted… give it a second… A moment or two later, what the pilots did not see was the smallest members of the herd, calves, they were being protected by their parents and other adults. They were in the middle of the road, and if the walker had continued, it would have caused a stampede, or worse. We’re not moving until they are clear.

“They’re grazing, it could take hours…”

“If we show up late…”

It’s on me. We’re not here to destroy or upset the balance here. It’s just supplies.

MISSION SUMMARY
Unit:
17th Column Forward Group
Vehicle Designation: Heavy Walker "Crownbreaker"
Reporting Officer: RG-11 "Regal"
Attached Personnel: Jedi Knight Aiden Porte
Mission Status: Delayed / Cargo Secure / Route Obstruction Resolved Without Incident

While conducting a routine supply movement from the drop zone to the designated staging area, "Crownbreaker" maintained steady progress over secure terrain. No hostile contact was reported, no mechanical faults were detected, and all cargo remained properly secured. The operation was, by all available standards, proceeding as a standard logistical transit.

At approximately mid-route, RG-11 ordered an immediate emergency stop. All walker systems were halted through manual command override, temporarily suspending forward movement and requiring a short restart cycle before operations could resume.

Initial crew assessment indicated no visible combat threat, terrain hazard, or mechanical obstruction sufficient to justify the stop. Driver and co-pilot personnel questioned the command decision, noting that the apparent obstruction consisted of a nerf herd several hundred meters ahead and not in immediate collision range.

Further observation confirmed the presence of multiple calves concealed within the center mass of the herd. Continued walker movement, even at reduced speed, carried a significant risk of frightening the animals, causing a stampede, separating the calves from the herd, or creating unnecessary harm to local wildlife.

RG-11 maintained the halt order despite objections regarding timetable concerns and potential reportable delay. Command responsibility for the delay was accepted on record.

No aggressive deterrents were used. No horn, warning shot, sonic burst, or intimidation maneuver was ordered. "Crownbreaker" remained stationary until the herd cleared the route under its own movement. Once the path was fully open, transit resumed without injury to wildlife, damage to the vehicle, or compromise to the cargo.

The delay was operationally minor. The result was ethically correct.

The 17th Column Forward Group arrived with all supplies intact and with no avoidable environmental disturbance caused by walker movement. While mission timetables remain important, RG-11 determined that logistical urgency did not supersede basic stewardship of civilian and natural terrain.

Final Note: Supplies can be late. Calves do not get replacement parts.

A private beach. Dominique might have known. Ayumi was surprisingly invested in elevating the quality of life of the masses, but only as much or slightly lesser than she was eager to get beautiful women somewhere private. Well, even if she were a bit of a temptress, she did respect boundaries. To a point.

"I hope you haven't picked a region expecting the four of us to single-handedly expel privateers, Ayumi. We're all dangerous women, but that doesn't necessarily translate into a fire fight." Dominique knew that all too well. She'd been forced to help defender the Senate Chamber when the Black Sun came for her predecessor. Not a pleasant time. Definitely a learning experience of why she hired capable people in CTRLd to handle such matters.

Well, whatever they'd unwittingly signed on for, Dominique would find a way to adapt. Just as she had on Theed behind a mobile defensive barrier and her hold-out blaster.

"I wasn't planning a massive attack... more chance to see the sites, meet the locals and help them out." SHe offered a small grin though while Feng came to join them and this was an adventuring party of the highest quality while she moved around. She looked at Dominique with a nod. "Though I might have found a nice region we can go. nice secure and not going to be in the way of the jedi which makes it the perfect place for outliers who need help and try to avoid dangerous elements." She was moving and started swimming while moving backwards and using the force as she motioned for Verity and offered a hand. "We got you Verity, just stay in the middle and we can help... and avoid strong currents.... and sharks but those you can stop with a punch to the nose. just bow right in the kisser.""

And a touch of the blues
And keeping the balance was something that those at Kattada did well. They were based in the Sentinel school and that meant helping out the galaxy in ways Jedi could, but also in ways most beings could. Using their skills more for the goal of being of aid now, than of hunting the dark side.

Though, that school was still taught to those who sought it. The school of the Jedi Hunters. Not so much the Watchmen, that Vodet was, and more than a Sentinel. The Hunters found the dark side and did their best to eliminate it, in a more aggressive way than even Shadows.

Still, it didn’t matter. For now, all that mattered was that the water was loaded up into these ships. Vodet nodded to the others who were doing such and made his way to his own runner. The lumbering Yinchorri smiled as he stepped aboard Hawksbill with several other Jedi and Witches. Time to bring some good cheer to the nearby systems. As it took off, a pair of Jedi Starfighters lifted from Kattada with it, heading for the stars.

Many beings didn’t know how to handle Jedi, and even less knew how to handle witches. For Brooke, that was a good thing. She may be more firmly in the light, working to create and protect, that to destroy and remove, but she was also good at that latter aspect. Witches rode the line between light and dark, but the ones on Kattada? They did their best to help the galaxy. Prepping explorers with everything they needed. The blonde was walking through Tidehome, perusing the shops, as she was known to do.

What she was doing was bringing gifts for the Republic and their explorers. A droid pushing a large cart had dozens of trinkets in it, from beads that served merely as tokens, to polyps of blue coral, to enchanted stones and trinkets that would bring good fortune, and in a literal way, protection or clarity of mind, to those in need.

Since her days in a defunct version of the Techno Union, from her early youth, to now, she was not one for larger governments, the Levantine Sanctum and Fringe Federation were exempt from that rule, but mostly because they were united by purpose, not by flag. Still, she wanted to buy time for her own people, and keep the Republic from looking too crossly at the witches. Providing gifts? That was something she could do.

And allow them to know that just because the Mandalorians had witches, didn’t mean they were all war mongers.

Some of them were just looking for lettuce and tomato, a big kosher pickle, and a cold draft beer.
