GENERAL INFORMATION
Name: Chamcort
Origins: Ank Kit’aar
Other Locations: This species of bamboo can be found in many places that host ecosystem that can grow it. However, there aren’t other planets that have Chamcort forests like Ank Kit’aar does.
Classification: Bamboo plant
Average Growth Cycle: This species of bamboo can reach it’s full height within a matter of months, but that does require it being planted in the right climate to do so. It’s seeds are planted in the ground, where it’s shoot will begin to grow. Once the shoot has grown a few inches in the air, the circular, hard covering around the shoot will then begin to grow, called culls. These culls will form around the shoot to protect it from any sort of herbivores that might want the Chamcort as a tasty snack.
Viability: Chamcort needs to be grown in a tropical climate that will provide it plenty of rain and a nutrient laden soil. It is best planted near a river, where it can get all the nutrients and water it could ever need. The farther from the river or water feature, the more rain and water the plant will need to grow healthily.
Description: It’s normal coloring, being one of a light green to slightly yellow around the knots of the culls, doesn’t typically deviate despite where it’s planted. Perhaps a bit different than most bamboos, the Chamcort can be observed to be less than stable usually, as it will bend over due to it’s height and weight. The forests, where Chamcort is extremely plentiful, is enough of a stabilizer that the bamboo leans against each other to stay upright. The culls can also grow small, pointed spines, though they are not very firm to the touch and don’t pose much a danger to the touch.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Average Height: 15m - 25m in height.
Average Length: .1m - .2m in circumference.
Color: The inner shoot of Chamcort is a spongy white, while the culls range from a light green to yellowish color.
Nutritional Value: The shoot can provide a nice boost of protein and vitamin B when prepared for a meal.
Toxicity: None
Other Effects: The shoots, if eaten in their young stages, can provide a relief to stomach aches or cramps, and even some light forms of indigestion. Chamcort’s spongy insides, once separated from the culls, can also provide a quick source of water if squeezed dry. The culls and bamboo itself has been seen being used as building material and jewelry for some of the indigenous populations to Ank Kit’aar.
Distinctions: There aren’t many distinctions when it comes to Chamcort. It looks pretty normal to the general population, and doesn’t have many characteristics to make it stand out. It’s main distinction is it’s less than stable growth. It either needs to be grown with a stabilizer near it, or tied to a long pole to direct and stabilize it’s growth to keep it from bending all the way over and stunting it’s growth.

Strengths:
Nutritious: Chamcort’s shoot can provide a plentiful, healthy meal when prepared properly, and is seen as a delicacy in many parts of the galaxy.
Plentiful: Despite it really only being plentiful on one planet, it’s relatively short growing time and massive forests full of the bamboo make it a easy export for the people of Ank Kit’aar.

Weaknesses:
Single ecosystem: If one was wanting to take and plant Chamcort on their own planet, they better hope they live right next to a river or in a tropical environment. Typically it’s better to have both.
Lots of work: Each and every shoot of chamcort either needs to planted in such a way it can lead on other shoots for stability or stabilized with a pole, to keep them from bending over and stunting their growth.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
For the longest time, the indigenous people of Ank Kit’aar used Chamcort as their main building material, and for some of those people, they still chose the bamboo over duro steel as their prefered walls and roof maker. Once Ank Kit’aar was introduced to the Confederacy, Chamcort became a major export, as it’s nutritional value became known to the greater galaxy. When Caer Badru was established, Chamcort was sent there to be studied by the witches, but since then, Shamira has traveled to it’s origin planet to collect some shoots and begin growing them along the river outside of the botanical gardens. While she doubts it will ever bloom into a full forest, they still have enough to provide a tasty snack here and there.
