Public Celebration of the Six Moons

Vestar - Night

Vestar was once a planet known for a tragic history, but that changed some time ago with the return of the Icarii. It became a planet known for hope, resilience, and second chances. So as Ran felt the forested planet's soil under her feet, she couldn't help but feel connected to those events. She couldn't help but feel that her visit to the planet was a chance to start over. Ran focused on that feeling. She meditated on it as she walked through crowds of sentients that had come for the Icarii and Vestaari's celebration of six moons. Just as the six moons were a sign of renewal, a revolution, an era, so too were they the subject of Ran's reflections.

A Jedi Master from a mostly dissolved Jedi Order. Ran felt she shared some of the guilt for its state as one of its former leaders, but she'd shed that feeling soon enough, for as she walked through the Icarii settlement's streets she was inundated with information on the celebration and its significance to the Icarii people. She let herself be swept up in it, as the time of the six moons had come. All sentients looked at the sky through the gaps in the ancient rainforest's canopy. Where there were usually five moons, there were now six. Was it a trick of the light? Had the other moon been orbiting at a distance unseen to the naked eye until days like this? Ran pondered her questions. She was no scientist, nor was she an astronomer, but she was a historian and could find the answer easily enough.

The Sixth moon had come and gone very quickly, it had spent a time in the sky both long enough and short enough for celebrants to focus on it, and honor it, without losing interest or patience. And when it was over the celebrants began embracing each other in hugs, handshakes, kisses, and all other manner of welcoming gestures from across the galaxy. They shared the stories of who they were and how they came to be at the celebration, and what they wanted or pursued going forward from this point of renewal. Ran had not been aware of this custom of the holiday, nevertheless she turned to her right and left to greet and interact with those near her.

"Hello," She grabbed the attention of the stranger next to her.

"Would you like to go first or shall I?" The mirialan asked as she aimed to wrap the stranger in a hug.

The woman next to her was no stranger.

She was just as Ran was. A Jedi Master of a Dissolved Order. Or, at least, she had been. The New Jedi Order was gone. What was left of it, was not what had been before. Whomever laid claim to that name now, was not who had before.

Valery and Kahlil were off raising their kids. Cora had taken up the High Republic. Elias the same. Efret had gone missing, and Zark was off fighting the Empire himself.

But Jonyna had kept in contact with all of them.

"Perhaps it best you do, Ho'era."

It was a word she had taken to call her fellow councilers. Former councilers. She couldn't let that go. They were the family she had left. Outside of those whom bare her name in legacy, she had no family. But the Council was family.

Sister. That's what that word meant, in her language. She'd taught it to each of them. A simple word that would keep them connected.

It felt nice to be back in the rainforest.

Hava'ssi never felt so overwhelmed.

The smells, the laughter, the whistling, the hooting, the calling, the lights, the music. It was all around him, and he did not like it.

He pulled his cloak tighter around himself, missing the warmth and silence of Kalee. But he knew it was no more. He had a new mission...and he would not abandon it.

He looked around curiously. Perhaps he could gather information from someone...?

Aiden spotted Ran before she spotted him, her presence in the Force a familiar, steady current amid the vibrant celebration. But it was the second presence beside her that caught his attention: composed, deep-rooted, carrying the quiet gravity of someone who had been shaped by eras, not years.

He approached through the drifting lanternlight and the chorus of celebrants, the forest canopy opening above him just enough to frame the fading glow of the sixth moon. His steps were unhurried, shoulders relaxed, the warmth in his expression unmistakable.

"Master Ran," he greeted softly, voice threaded with genuine fondness as he inclined his head. "It's good to see you again."

Only then did he turn his focus fully to Jonyna.

The woman carried herself with the ease of someone who had once stood at the center of storms, and survived them. There was history in her eyes, but also something gentle, something anchored.

Aiden offered her a respectful bow of greeting, the kind that conveyed both courtesy and quiet admiration.

"It's good to meet you." he said with a small, warm smile. He straightened, meeting Jonyna's gaze with open sincerity. "Aiden Porte, Jedi Knight. It's an honor."

The crowd surged around them, laughter, embraces, stories carried amongst them, but where the three of them stood, there was a stillness, a sense of something meaningful aligning. And then there was another that Aiden felt, it was Havassi Havassi

"You should come join us my friend?"

Aiden's tone softened, just a touch.

"It's not often the Force brings old bonds and new faces together on a day meant for renewal."

Zylon arrives on Vestar, in his long term quest to find his masters killer, a sith enforcer droid named Dread Master Dralk. Intel from the Jedi Counsil tells Zylon that Dralk was last seen 4 months ago passing through Vestar using it as a rendezvous point for the purchase of a large amount of kyber.

Zylon hears people celebrating in the distance and walks over to investigate.

Zylon Walks up to Aiden, A fellow Jedi getting his attention with a simple wave, Zylon then asks him "Im not familiar with this planets customs, What is this celebration?"

“Ho’era.” Ran’s eyes went wide as she repeated the word and then even wider as she realized who was next to her. “Jonyna? You’re here!” The surprise in Ran’s voice was obvious. She went in to hug the Cathar Jedi Master, not because of the customs of the six moons celebration, but because she had missed her like she had so many others, former councilors and not. Ran was happy to see her, more than happy, ecstatic.

“I will go first, Ho’era.” Ran returned the word back to Jonyna Si Jonyna Si . Having grown up without a family, the word had come to mean a lot to Ran since Jonyna had taught her its meaning.

“Although we’ve known each other for quite some time, I will partake in this celebration’s custom and share my story. I was bo-” Ran began her tale because even though she knew Jonyna, she still couldn’t help but pass up an opportunity to share her truth with a friend, or as Jonyna put it, a sister, because it meant that she would hear Jonyna’s story again as well. But not yet as another familiar face approached.

“Aiden? Knight Porte!” Ran’s tale, interrupted by another surprise as apparently there were no strangers in this corner of the galaxy. She laughed. “It is good to see you as well.” Ran watched as Aiden introduced himself to Jonyna, and followed as he invited the only true stranger into their midst. “Please, Sir Kaleesh. Join us.” She said extending the offer of embrace to Havassi Havassi .

“And you as well, Friend.” Ran invited the stranger Zylon Wex Zylon Wex that meandered behind Aiden Porte Aiden Porte . “This is the Icarii celebration known as the Six Moons.” Ran explained. “It is an annual celebration of renewal, resilience, and second chances for the planet and their peoples after a tragedy that challenged the Icarii population occurred almost a millennia ago. It is named after the sixth moon of Vestar which is only visible today. Now that the sixth moon disappears again, custom dictates we share with each other an embrace, the story of who we are, how we came to be here, or what our intentions are for the future.” Ran continued. “I’ll go first.”

“My tale is lengthy and well known by some, so I will just say I came to be here out of my desire to celebrate something, anything, as I haven’t had much cause to celebrate lately. It’s been a struggle after the fall of the Galactic Alliance in the Core Worlds, but I feel as if I am just now finding my footing and that I will celebrate as a renewal. I will continue on into the future with the intention of following the teachings of the Jedi that have done me so well but embracing them on the frontlines where I will meet the evil’s of the galaxy head on. No longer in the temples and enclaves, I will travel the fringes, the shadows, the starlanes and battlefields all for a better and brighter future for us all.”

Ran looked at Jonyna expectantly yet unsure of what her fellow Jedi Master would say.

Hubert stands at the edge of the crowd, his eyes darting along and scoping out the mass of people embracing one another in celebration, kindness, peace... It is a nice change from the usual hustle and bustle he goes through on the daily. Hubert has been racing across the galaxy in search of a new discovery to bring back to the Mandalorian Star Corps, but has had no luck so far. The oddest thing he has seen since his departure is this sixth moon hanging above the planet he stands on, the name of which slips his memory right now. For now, all that plagues his mind is taking a breather after four solid days straight of flying. This is the first time he's stepped off of his ship since he left...

The Mando-Mechanic is without Beskar. No armor is dawned upon his tall lanky frame- and he prefers it that way. Instead, a tan bantha-leather coat is formed over his shoulders. Underneath it is a white woolen shirt and his pants match his coat, kind of... Ballpark with the color scheme, at least. For once, Hubert has cleaned himself up, the usual layer of black engine grease that plasters his skin has been scrubbed out, and his long, sandy curls washed as to not be rude for this rather invasive custom of theirs. He never has been much of a hugger, but growing as a slave on Tatooine will do that to you...

Hubert approaches what he hopes is a bar, and sits upon one of the stools. He pulls a cigarette from his coat pocket along with a plasma lighter. As he ignites the tip of the cigarette, he takes a long, much needed pull from it, and lets the smoke out in a cloud above his head with a sigh of contempt and relief. He does his best to avoid bothering anyone with his smoke, he knows not everyone can tolerate sitting next to an ashtray.

He looks to the bartender and orders a spicebrew, turning in his seat to once again face the crowd. There are definitely a lot of faces that he's never seen before, but at this point, Hubert is no stranger to discovery... As long as who- or whatever it is knows what 'equal respect' means, they're okay in Huberts book. There is a pair that keep catching Huberts eye though, and apparently not just. Suddenly one of them becomes rather popular, as more and more people begin to approach her. His eyes squint a bit in curiosity. He knows that there's no big ulterior motive planned here, at least- if there is, he smells not hide nor hair of it.

But maybe he can learn something he wouldn't have? She's obviously an important individual, maybe she has important information that can lead him to his next discovery? Kriff, She lives under a natural oddity, perhaps she knows of more...

Hava'ssi hesitantly joined the others. His yellow eyes lingered on Ran Serys Ran Serys . A force-user, no doubt. He had to admit, he believed in the force, but he hated how those who held the power used it to their advantage. But these people, these force-users, seemed kind enough. He listened to her tale intently, analyzing her body language, her accent, anything that might help him gather information. But he found himself disappointed. He would have to approach this at a different angle.

Then something about her story caught his attention. Ran was a Jedi???

He gritted his teeth, remembering the Republic from the past. How could he associate himself with these people when they sided with the Huk in the Kaleesh war? But he knew that...if he wanted to continue this mission...he had to hide his feelings.

Jonyna took the hug with stride, embracing her former counciler. She had missed them as well, even the ones she kept in more close contact with. As others approached, Jonyna simply kept to herself. Waited her turn. Shed knew better than to interrupt.

But then it became her turn. She turned to embrace Aiden Porte Aiden Porte , before beginning her own story.

"My tale is one from long ago. I was born on Cathar, but raised amongst the stars. On my way to become a youngling, the horror that was Order 66 happened. I only got away with my life because the clones didn't identify me as a jedi."

She let out a sigh, as she sat down and adjusted her posture. "I spent most of my life as a rebel, living with a crew I saw as family. That was until I did something wholly foolish Led us into a fight we couldn't win, against a witch who would rather freeze the whole planet we were on then let us win. I stayed that way for 900 years, until I was discovered. From there, I became a jedi of the order. The New Jedi Order became my home, and my new family. But...that died too. There's still a few of us left, but I can't call us an order anymore. As for the future? I tried my best to be the model jedi for the NJO. I can't do that anymore. I'm a rebel, born and raised. Now, I'm planning to do what rebels do. Hit the darkness hard and fast. Make them remember that the light is not weak. I'm tired of pretending to be the paragon of order. Now I'm a paragon of justice, as I always was supposed to be."

Hava'ssi approached her, hiding his hate for jedi behind his mask.

"I understand what it's like to lose everything." He shifted his stance. "I want you to know that you made the right choice...choosing the light over shadow."

His eyes glowed slightly, reflecting the stars above. "I love my father. But I never revealed it to him until his last days. I will never forgive myself."

He had barely shared his story, but hoped that it would suffice.

Zylon says, replying to Havassi's admission.

"My father was a Sith that was murdered when I was a small child. I was raised by his murderer, only to have him die on me too. Be grateful you got to say that you love him and that there was time to say goodbye"

His anger was already heated, but now this Jedi was trying his patience. He placed his hand one of his blasters behind his belt. "Careful...jedi. Let's not compare our stories in a manner that is anything but friendly. I am grateful for having a father to look up to when I was young, but I'm not grateful for his hand in killing thousands of jedi and keeping their lightsabers as trophies. But...let's not get heated."
