Philosopher: Cassus is a scholar of the Force, subscribing in the belief of the Living and Cosmic Force. Cassus believes in and teaches that the Dark and the Light are in everyone, and coming face to face with the Darkness inside yourself is essential to maintaining true balance in the Force.
Luminous Being: The Force is Cassus' ally, he trusts in it completely and knows that all is as the Force wills it.
Lightsaber Combat: Cassus is adept at the art of fighting with a Lightsaber
Chipper: He is friendly and chipper to all he meets, always willing to see the best in every being he comes across and is pretty much fueled by hope and good will.
Boring: Cassus can be boring at times. He loves to talk about the Force and his views on it, and in his day was known as someone who could talk for hours on end about the Force and it's different philosophies.
Socially Awkward: Due to his bookwormy and generally seclusionist behavior, Cassus is painfully awkward when it comes to social situations. He just isn't used to the situation, and has been known to be offputting to people
Headstrong: Cassus has a very "die on this hill" personality. He will defend his views to the death and will not back down on certain issues. This has gotten him into trouble before, and it certainly will again. Arguments, soured political relationships, none have been spared by his worldview.
Waffling: Cassus is indecisive to a fault, sometimes taking hours before reaching a final decision on something. Sometimes going back and forth on a decision before finally committing.
Survivors Guilt: Cassus was the last surviving member of a Jedi team that got wiped out by Sith while on a mission in enemy territory. He barely made it out with his life but did manage to grab all of his friends' lightsabers, his own being damaged in the fight. In the years since he had taken the lightsabers apart and worn the crystals in a necklace he wears constantly.
APPEARANCE:
Cassus is tall and athletically built with short, shaggy brown hair and thin, scruffy facial hair. He's usually seen wearing the traditional robes of the Jedi Order, his clothes growing ratty and dirty to his long time spent in seclusion.
Gear: Cassus' lightsaber was created in response to his original being damaged in battle against the Sith. The blue kyber crystal was damaged, and unable to change it. Therefore the new lightsaber's blade crackles and spits with an unstable blade due to the damaged crystal. Cassus is also known to carry miscellaneous objects like bandages, snacks, a canteen of water. The usual field gear. Also, around his neck, Cassus wears the Kyber Crystals belonging to six dead Jedi. His friends he lost in battle, and which he wears always, treating them as a priest would rosary beads.
BIOGRAPHY:
His early life is not a happy one. He was born in 49 ABY to a dirt poor family living in the lower levels of Coruscant. He parents both died when he was young, leaving him alone and at the mercy of the local criminal gangs. He had to learn to fend for himself, taking what he could, and quite often coming home with nothing. Before he was discovered by a passing Jedi, he had nothing to live for. But the Jedi Order gave him a purpose. Gave him life. From his Master he learned that the Force is the only ally he would ever truly need. How the darkness of his past was not something to be ashamed of, but to be embraced and accepted as much of a part of him as the good. He absorbed as much knowledge of the Force as he could, learning everything he could and reading anything he could get his hands on in the Jedi Archive. The teachings of Luke Skywalker, Yoda, whatever he could get that was rescued from the Empire.
But, Cassus also understood that it was also a Jedi's responsibility to curb the aggressions of the Dark Side whenever it may manifest, so Cassus was sent into battle. He was sent into battle against the emerging Sith threat, and the long years of war made their marks on his body, and his way of thinking. It all climaxed when Cassus and a group of other Masters was sent to the planet Dathomir to stop a Sith ritual from taking place. The team got there just in time to stop the ritual..and to die. The Jedi put up a hell of a fight but in the end they had been overwhelmed. Cassus, in the end, was the only one to make it out alive. His lightsaber damaged, he had gathered his friends to keep them from being some sick Sith trophy, and he fled. In the subsequent years he dropped off the face of the map, only coming to Ossus once in a while to confer with his fellow Jedi masters and again leaving. The last time he returned to Ossus would be the one that changed his life forever. The Sith attacked and overwhelmed the Jedi, with Cassus and a group of other Jedi just able to get to a Medical Frigate orbiting the planet before the frigate itself was rocked and disabled by a couple of proton torpedoes. As a safety precaution, A few Jedi, including Cassus, were put into stasis. As the Force willed it, the Stasis lasted for hundreds of years with Cassus and the others just now waking up in this new, strange point in Galactic history.
