CASSIANE DAMARIS
Cassiane Damaris is nineteen years old, the recognized heir of a diminished noble house whose senior line was believed to have been destroyed before she was born. Raised on Doan by the surviving cadet branch, she has inherited a name that still carries some dignity, though little of the influence it once held.
She has already been entrusted with a measure of the family's affairs and has begun building a reputation of her own, while preparing for the day when she will have to decide what the Damaris name is worth in the world that remains.

A HOUSE IN EXILE
THE OLD HOUSE
House Damaris is an old aristocratic family, with roughly five to eight centuries of recorded history behind its name. Its rise was gradual. The family built its position through commerce, political relationships and careful use of information rather than military conquest. By cultivating the right alliances and learning what other houses preferred to keep private, the Damaris became a respectable political family whose influence often reached further than its holdings suggested.
THE LONG DECLINE
The Damaris never became one of the great houses of the galaxy. Their strength depended on connections, information and capable members, and each generation had to maintain what the previous one had built. For a time, the main branch grew into a respectable middle-ranking house with considerable political reach. Eventually that growth stopped. The family settled into a comfortable position and, over generations, became less important without ever becoming completely irrelevant.
The name remained respectable. However it stopped carrying much weight.
THE DOAN BRANCH
Generations ago, a branch of House Damaris was sent to Doan as part of a political settlement. The arrangement placed the cadet branch in a position where it could represent the family's interests on the planet while preserving a wider political agreement.
The settlement became permanent. The Doan Damaris acquired land, developed local influence and established themselves as landed nobility. They remained a cadet branch of the main house, but centuries of life on Doan gave them their own identity and interests.
By the time the senior line began to falter, the Doan branch was one of the family's few stable footholds.
THE DYNASTIC WAR
Nineteen years ago, the Damaris family tore itself apart.
A struggle between rival branches became a dynastic war over influence and succession. The details were never made public in full. What is known is that the main branch was destroyed, its political position collapsed, and much of the family's remaining influence disappeared with it.
The surviving branches blamed one another. No single account became accepted as the truth.
Cassiane knows only part of what happened. She knows that her family was betrayed from within, that members of other branches benefited from the destruction, and that the senior line was nearly erased. The gaps in the story have never made her less possessive of what she believes remains hers.
HER FATHER
Cassiane's father survived the destruction of the main branch as its remaining legitimate heir. The Doan Damaris took him in, giving the surviving senior line a place from which to continue.
He became the living connection between the old house and the cadet branch that had survived it. His role was less dramatic than the circumstances surrounding him might suggest. He preserved the family name, maintained what could still be maintained, and raised his daughter with the understanding that the burden of rebuilding the senior house would eventually pass to her.
UNDER THE PYKES
Cassiane spent her childhood on Doan while the planet remained under Pyke rule. The Damaris retained their estates and local position, but their influence existed within a system where the family had little control over the larger political order.
THE REMNANT ARRIVES
Mahporeem eventually intervened on Doan, overthrowing the existing Pyke order and installing a new government. The change brought the planet under the influence of the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant.
For House Damaris, the change created both a new obligation and a new opportunity. Mahporeem had an interest in Doan's resources and needed local figures who could provide legitimacy, administration and connections. The Damaris had survived long enough to be useful, and their estates gave them something worth protecting.
Cassiane learned quickly that political dependence did not have to mean political helplessness.
HER UPBRINGING
Cassiane was raised according to the expectations of an old aristocratic family. Her education covered the usual subjects expected of a noble heir, alongside politics, history, commerce, negotiation and the management of the family's interests.
Her training in the Force began young and remained private. The Damaris possessed a hereditary tradition that treated Force sensitivity as a privilege of the bloodline. Cassiane was taught that the Force rewarded understanding and discipline, not moral virtue, and that emotions were neither weaknesses nor sins. They were information, and sometimes sources of power.
Her grandfather's death eventually left her as the recognized heir apparent. By nineteen, Cassiane was no longer being prepared for a distant inheritance. She was already being trusted with real responsibilities and had begun acting independently in the family's interests.

APPEARANCE
GENERAL
Cassiane is a young woman with a slender, graceful composition and the calm bearing one would excpect someone from an old noble house. Her features are refined and symmetrical, framed by carefully kept hair, and her expression tends toward quiet confidence rather thanseverity. She carries herself with assurance, most of her movements are controlled and calm.
CLOTHING
Cassiane prefers clothing that shows her position without relying on overt ceremony. Deep blue, white and antique silver form the usual palette, with darker pieces used when practicality matters. Her wardrobe tends toward well-made fabrics, clean lines and restrained details rather than anything that looks deliberately extravagant.
PRESENCE
Cassiane carries herself like someone who expects to be taken seriously. Her family's diminished position has taught her that appearances cannot substitute for authority, but she has no interest in pretending to be lesser than she is. She is comfortable in formal settings, though she prefers practical matters to ceremony, and her confidence tends to become more noticeable when someone treats her youth as a reason to dismiss her.

DOCTRINE
LEGACY
Cassiane believes the Damaris name belongs to those capable of carrying it. Her family's former position does not entitle her to anything by itself, but neither does its decline erase what the senior line once possessed. If the house lost its influence because its members failed to keep it, then rebuilding it is a responsibility rather than a fantasy.
She does not want the old Damaris restored exactly as it was. She wants a house strong enough that no future generation can take its position for granted.
HER OBJECTIVE
Cassiane intends to become powerful enough to restore House Damaris and eventually take it beyond the position it held before its decline. She wants political influence, property, authority and a reputation that cannot be dismissed as the remnant of a dead family.
She has little interest in power for the sake of ceremony. Power matters because it gives her control over what happens next.
THE CONTRADICTION
Cassiane is fiercely possessive of a legacy she never experienced.
She was born after the destruction of the main branch. She never lived in the house she wants to reclaim, never knew the political world that gave the senior Damaris their influence, and remembers none of the family before its collapse. Much of what she calls inheritance exists in stories, records and blood.
That does not make the claim feel less personal to her.
She can recognize another person's humanity without accepting that their interests should outweigh her own. In the same way, she can respect another family's achievements without believing that respect requires her to surrender what she considers hers.

THE REMNANT
A PATRON
Cassiane understands the position Mahporeem occupies on Doan. The Remnant is the stronger political power, and the Damaris are in no position to pretend otherwise. She has little sentimental attachment to independence for its own sake.
Mahporeem is useful. It provides protection, a wider political structure and opportunities that the Damaris could not create alone. Cassiane is willing to work within that arrangement for as long as it remains useful to her house.
HER VALUE TO THEM
The Damaris offer Mahporeem a local noble family with established land, property, political connections and knowledge of Doan's affairs. Their survival also gives the Remnant a familiar local presence instead of leaving every part of the planet's administration in the hands of outsiders.
Their estates and access to Doan's resources add another reason to keep the family useful.
Cassiane herself offers something more difficult to measure: ambition, political education and a willingness to understand what Mahporeem wants before deciding what the Damaris can gain from it.

THE HEIR
PERSONALITY
Cassiane is ambitious, competitive and deeply conscious of her own agency. She does not believe that birth alone makes someone worthy of authority. A title gives a person an opportunity. What they do with it determines whether they deserve to keep it.
She can be charming when she wants to be and is capable of forming genuine friendships. She does not need to pretend to care about someone in order to enjoy their company. At the same time, affection does not erase self-interest. Cassiane can value another person while still choosing herself when the two interests come into conflict.
Her cruelty is practical rather than theatrical. She is capable of doing severe things when she believes they are necessary, useful or justified by the situation. She does not take pleasure in suffering for its own sake, and she does not need to hate someone before deciding that they have become an obstacle.
CONVERSATION
Cassiane is comfortable in conversation and understands the value of listening. She prefers to let people explain themselves before deciding what they can offer, what they want and how seriously they should be taken.
She can be warm, witty or polite without treating those qualities as lies. When challenged, however, her manner can become much colder. She dislikes being patronized because of her age and has little patience for people who assume that a young noblewoman must also be inexperienced.
HABITS
Cassiane pays close attention to who speaks to whom, who avoids whom and what changes when a powerful person enters a room. She tends to remember small details about people and their circumstances. She also has a habit of mentally weighing the usefulness of a situation even when she is enjoying herself.
She dislikes losing control of a situation and becomes noticeably more focused when circumstances begin moving beyond her influence.
CONTRADICTIONS
Cassiane believes inherited power is worthless without competence, yet she is deeply possessive of an inheritance she never experienced.
She values personal freedom while willingly using institutions, traditions and authority whenever they serve her purposes. She rejects the idea that morality gives the Force an inherent direction, yet she does not see herself as without principles.
She can form sincere bonds with people while still viewing loyalty as something that has to survive competing interests.

AMONG NOBILITY
The Damaris name is recognized, but it no longer commands attention. Among nobles, the family is more likely to be regarded as respectable than prestigious, and even then, the Damaris name does not have any connotation anymore. Cassiane's position therefore may attracts curiosity more than deference. Some see a young woman carrying the ambitions of a house that has already had its chance. Others see someone who may eventually make the name matter again.
ON DOAN
On Doan, the Damaris are known as an established landed family. Their estates and local presence have survived changes in political authority, and their relationship with the population is largely practical. Cassiane understands that loyalty has to be maintained rather than assumed. She is willing to listen to local concerns and address problems when doing so serves the stability of the house and its holdings.

FAMILY
Cassiane's father is the surviving legitimate heir of the former main branch of House Damaris. He was taken in by the Doan cadet branch after the dynastic war and remains the living connection between the senior line and the family that survived on Doan.
Cassiane's grandfather was the former Lord of the House. His death placed Cassiane in the position of recognized heir apparent and made the question of the family's future considerably more immediate.
