Casi is a tall, athletic young woman with long flowing hair like pitch-darkness. Her exact ethnic origins are unknown, but she considers herself to be “Near Human”, with pale skin, green eyes, and the characteristic pointed ears that set her apart from true Humans.

Her attire is generally black, matching with the garb often worn by other members of the Dark Side Elite, though she was known to wear black robes as a Jedi as well. Her armor and robes typically mix form with function, reflecting her status as a warrior but also her disdain for the mundane and unadorned styles of the Jedi.

INVENTORY
Casi’s Lightsaber (x)

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Like other members of the Dark Side Elite, Casi is primarily driven by a hunger for power, her ultimate goal to turn herself into a perfect weapon. A constant drive to be faster, stronger, better. Her ambitious nature is marked by a sense of self-righteousness and a need to prove her superiority to others. She also has a materialistic sense, enjoying luxury and the finer things in life, something the Empire has been able to indulge that the Jedi would not.

Her fall to the Dark Side is the source of much anxiety and inner turmoil, with the death of her closest people, and entry into service of the Empire, Casi has lost a piece of her soul. Her senses of love, of justice, of kindness, have become a null void within her heart, numbed at the memory of her master being slain in front of her.

Those who have known her in the years since take note of her icy demeanor.
Emotionally, Casi is isolated, but with her fall to the Dark Side her beliefs of self-reliance have been vindicated, proof that she does not need others to be strong, instead focusing intensely on her physical fitness.

Spiritually, Casi is still a Jedi despite her fall and the corruption of the dark side. Though she does not perfectly adhere to the Jedi Code, she vehemently refuses to believe that she is driven by hate or passion as the Sith are. Instead she deludes herself into the belief that through self-empowerment, and oneness with herself (as opposed to oneness with the Force), she can achieve inner peace and find strength in that.

STRENGTHS

+Physical Fitness: Casi’s main priority is the conditioning of her body, believing that the Force, in its infinite power, is a tool that requires an equally strong user to wield it.

+Unflinching: Casi’s traumatic losses and witnessing of not one, but two, massively destructive battles of Coruscant has left her unfazed by the horrors of war, something which snapped within her when she went on a killing spree of Imperial soldiers during the Dark Empires occupation of Coruscant.

WEAKNESSES

-Crippling Anxiety: Falling to the Dark Side took its emotional toll on the young woman, beginning with the murder of her master by the Dark Side Elite, an event that she relives often though she tries to suppress it. Following her true embrace of the Dark Side and her induction into the very same Elite of the Empire, she is wracked by dreams of failure, constantly at odds with her own beliefs of garnering strength, visions that show her a future where she is unable to become the woman she wishes to amount to. Her anxiety keeps her mind clouded, a manifestation of her refusal to fully accept her fall, a disability that holds her back from healing and pushes her further to the dark side.

-Self-Destructive: The downside to Casi’s reckless ambition and pursuit of strength is the destructive mindset she has developed for herself, unable to handle failure and prone to pushing herself excessively hard, punishing herself whether she performs well or poorly.

HISTORY

Casi Braste is a Dark Jedi of the Galactic Empire’s Dark Side Elite. Casi’s fall to the dark side was driven by the deaths of her master and her friends, but its seeds were sown long before the catalyst of the Dark Empires attack on Coruscant. In her training, Casi’s desire for personal growth would become a desire for personal strength, something that would be pushed over the edge by the overwhelming grief of her losses. A desire for personal strength became a desire for personal power.

Adopted by the New Jedi Order as an infant, Casi was born into the generation of Jedi that came after the end of the Second Great Hyperspace War. A generation that for once in a long, long time knew some semblance of peace. She was a precocious child, happy and inquisitive, though often distracted by beautiful material things, flowers, architecture, men and women. Though she excelled at her studies, she also excelled at questioning her teachers, also developing a bossy attitude towards other Younglings she considered to be less intelligent or capable.

Though her teachers questioned her temperament, her training advanced, her teachers themselves being veterans of the war who saw in her the potential as a warrior, rather than a peace time Jedi, perhaps a fatal flaw of the Jedi Order in that time.

Becoming a Padawan at the early age of 14, Casi was taken on as the apprentice of Master Tera Lan, an Ashlan healer returned to the Core Jedi. Her effect on Casi’s training would be as the Jedi council had hoped, tempering the fire through Tera’s soft spoken ways and propensity for peace. The pair bonded over a love of art, and Tera's indulged Casi’s love for lightsabers even though she rarely used hers before, teaching the firebrand girl the importance of the Jedi’s weapon, the respect its due and that which it owes to others as a tool of peace. But Casi in her habitual drive to succeed would come to view her body as the weapon, believing that the Force and the saber were only as strong as the Jedi wielding them. She developed an intense passion for fitness, which Tera supported believing it would keep her level-headed in the more diplomatic and cultural education of a Jedi Consular that she would embark on in her later teens.

Casi spent much time as a Padawan in the grand libraries of the Jedi Temple, becoming an assistant to the library staff. It was there that she began a friendship with a Padawan boy named Rusen. The pair grew close, spending time seated amongst the holobook shelves, laughing and sharing. In time she grew romantic feelings for Rusen, something she was never able to tell him as his Master brought him to a far-flung Enclave away from Coruscant.

The loss deeply affected Casi, and though her Master sensed its negative effects, Casi locked in her training, going for the Five Trials at the age of 20. Rusen returned to Coruscant in the midst of her final months of training, but the two did not have the time to reconnect.

Before she could complete all of the trials and be knighted, Ignacious Korvan’s Imperial remnant, usurped by Darth Solipsis, attacked Coruscant.
Master Tera was slain by the Dark Emperor’s Elite in front of Casi, a horrifying experience. She ran to the safest place she knew, the library, only to find its denizens slain by troopers. Among them were Rusen and his Master. Distraught, desperate, terrified, Casi snapped, slaying many imperial soldiers in a frenzied rage.

In the aftermath, the Jedi Council deemed her experience as enough proof to pass the Jedi Trials and become a Jedi Knight. The Council overlooked Casi’s potential issues, and let her become a warrior of the order.

For the next two years. Casi traveled with the refugees of the Jedi Temple, eventually returning to the scarred Coruscant, but nothing was the same. She dedicated herself to endless hours in the lightsaber dojo, or secluding herself in troubled meditation.

When the Empire returned, it broke Casi, completely. To relive her trauma as more Jedi around her died, just as they had the time before. Nothing had changed, and Casi sought to die, entering into the fray in a suicidal charge. She had not intended to die as a hero nor did she intend to live long enough to see herself become a villain. But the Dark Side which had been calling her finally wormed its way into her mind, and she reached out for it as a savior in her darkest hour.

In the end, she was captured by the Empire, being tortured and tested to assess her aptitude to become a potential disciple of the Empire. It did not take long for the Empire to convince her of the Jedi’s shortcomings and offer her what she needed to become strong. The Dark Side Elite knew as well that her hatred of them would fuel her, and make her easy to manipulate. Thus she became a junior member of the Dark Side Elite.
