A bizarre customized lightsaber, the weapon of Carthus Marr is as unusual as its wielder. Its handle is long and cumbersome, nearly the length of an average human forearm, and even swinging around the unignited hilt would require considerable physical strength.
The blade, too, is seemingly proportioned too large, and when ignited produces a blade nearly 1.6 meters in length on its standard setting. While the saber does include a blade adjuster, this is seldom used, and in most respects it is more similar to a greatsword than most Jedi or Sith blades. When used, the blade becomes approximately 1.2 meters long.
To most eyes, this massive weapon would be appropriate for two-handed usage, but given the alchemically-enhanced strength of its creator, it is often used in just one. Occasionally, it is paired with Carthus' Sith Sword, leading to a highly bizarre and unconventional fighting style utilizing both weapons. The smaller, quicker Sith Sword and the larger, slower saber are used in an intricate, self-created dueling style that is striking, if somewhat impractical, to behold. It fits its wielder well, epitomizing his utter contempt for tradition, and can strike with terrible force when compared to conventional, normal-sized sabers.
Lastly, the blade is powered by a rare lava crystal, causing it to actively flicker with open flame when ignited. Every swing leaves a brilliant trail of fire in the air, aiding its wielder's flashy, aggressive fighting methods. Should an enemy be struck, they can be at risk of being set ablaze.
While a grim tool of destruction in its creator's hands, the greatsaber is a sluggish weapon, something that Carthus' monstrous physical might cannot entirely cancel out. Each swing requires much of the user's own body weight to be shifted to support it, and a strong arm besides. If used incautiously, it can open the wielder up to easy retaliation.
