---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :

+ Quick in the mind: Cable is smart. Really, really smart. A combination of Arkanian genetics and a little luck in the roulette of life. He lacks a traditional education, but it still manifests as being very clever and adaptable. Coupled with his background in subterfuge and illegal activities, it makes him a dangerous person to go up against mentally.

+ Quick on his feet (Racial Trait): Cable's Arkanian parents were apparently of the sort that thrived on genetic modification. This isn't too significant, but he's somewhat faster, stronger, and tougher than average.

+ Military Training: From being a mafia thug, to House Tregessar militia, finally to Helldiver training, Cable has done quite a bit combat training in his time in a variety of different areas. He is generally quite adept at fighting, whatever the form.

= Ambitious: Though not malicious by nature, Cable has risen from being almost literally nothing to being an elite soldier hand-picked to join a selective order of force adepts. He'd like to see how much higher he can go. This has benefits, but it can also get one on the wrong side of the wrong people.

= Born in the Black Ring: Cable's early life was one of incredible difficulty and he didn't just survive, he thrived. He is very much at home in adversity, and knows the ways around the rough parts of a city like the back of his hand. On the other hand, his formal education is limited (to say the least), which has gradually proven more and more of an issue the higher he has risen in society.

= Cybernetic Arm: Cable lost his left arm in an operation and had it replaced with a then state-of-the-art cybernetic one (of the obvious sort). It gives him great strength and durability, but is vulnerable to EMP and limits his use of certain force powers.

- Gloves don't fit: Four claw fingers, man. At least it's only on his right hand now.

- Selfish: Caring about others is something Cable has had to learn the hard way. With a few exceptions, push come to shove and he's going to look out for himself first and maybe check on others if he has the time.

- Smart-alec: While Cable has little of the traditional arrogance seemingly native to Arkanian culture, he's still used to being the smartest person in the room and has a mouth

APPEARANCE:
Cable strikes a rather unassuming appearance, being neither particularly tall, nor particularly muscular (wiry, perhaps). Or at least, he would, if not for his solid white eyes (he lacks the white hair of a full-blooded Arkanian). Otherwise he tries to be as unassuming as possible, and often wears sunglasses to hide the rather distinctive eyes (and help balance out his natural IR vision). This is an acquired trait, and recently he's taken to actually bothering with his appearance, and typically sports a trimmed beard and somewhat spiked hair. In armor his physical appearance is rather unimportant, of course.

BIOGRAPHY:
Born in the darkest dark of the Black Ring, the lowest habitable level of the Axxilan Ecumenopolis, Cable Shike's early life was one totally focused on survival. It is not a story of exceptional tragedy or horror, a hundred million children from among a thousand races face the same fate every day on the planet, scraping a meager existence from among the dilapidated automated 'relief centers' and thriving only by preying upon the weak and foolish.

Rather, it is a story of perseverance, of rising above the rest, and climbing out of the pit where he was born. Cable never knew his parents and was unaware of his species general existence. All he knew was that he was a little stronger and a little quicker than most others in the Black Ring, and a lot more clever.

As a teenager, he quickly became embroiled in the endless gang and organized crime syndicates operating in Axxila, and he saw there the means to escape the prison of poverty and violence that was the Black Ring. Working first as a runner, a dedicated associate, and finally a soldato, he garnered a reputation for solving 'problems' quietly and efficiently.

By the time he was 16 he was working as an enforcer for a branch of the mafia that had operations in the higher levels of the world-city. This was not necessarily unusual, the children from the undercity who managed to survive had a tendency to rise quickly because of their ferocity and knack for survival, but they also had a tendency to fall just as quickly.

All this Cable took in quietly, and he vowed to escape the system. When he was 17, on an escort mission among the high city, he saw his opportunity and took it, leaving three bodies in his wake, including the man he was escorting. Well aware of the need to find some form or protection from the wrath of the mafia, he made his way to the door of the first Great House outpost he could find and inquired about a job.

The house in question was Banat-Marath, then the leading family, ostensible rulers of Axxila. He worked low-level security, and found he still had to watch his back. But the survivors of the Black Ring are used to listening for a knife in the dark, and still he survived.

Adapting to survive in the 'high life' was a different form of struggle than the sort Cable was used to. He may have been little more than a hired thug for the house, but the rules of etiquette and ceremony applied to all ranks. Now he found his intelligence challenged more often than his physical traits, as struggled to learn to read and write and acquire those habits and behaviors commonplace to the sort of people who lived in sight of the sky.

Serving a great house would prove something of an eye opener to the still young Cable. He found there was more to life than just survival, and that the world was not quite so cruel as he had imagined. At least not all the time. He discovered, somewhat to his surprise, that he was what one could describe as a 'decent' person' when he wasn't constantly fighting for his life.

Not that those days didn't happen too. The turning point came, as had been the trend in his life so far, as a result of the misfortune of others. A conspiracy by he other great houses came to a head, and Banat-Marath fell practically overnight. Cable was working night shift, and when the attack came he found he was desperately outgunned and outmatched. While his fellow guards fled or died, he found the shadows and hid, and watched. The opposing house troops moved in disciplined and experienced, blowing away the more numerous opposition with superior firepower and tactics. While other houses attacked through less conventional means, the shocktroops were from the militaristic House Tregessar.

Cable quickly left the service the House Banat-Marath (now relegated to the status of a tertiary house at best) and joined the ranks of House Tregessar. He managed to impress his supervisors and found himself moved into advanced combat training and placed in a unit of House Guards, the same soldiers that had so recently shattered the defenses of the Banath-Marath.

There he managed to do well enough to get selected for the then brand-new Shadowline project. He became a Helldiver, with all the extensive training that implies, including aerial assaults, anti-force-user tactics, and urban warfare. He rose through the ranks due to his skill and aptitude, and in spite of a serious injury that cost him his left arm (replaced with a cybernetic one), he was promoted to Jump Sergeant (in charge of an air cavalry squad) at 24.

He eventually came to the notice of none other than Admiral Cyrus Tregessar after a battery of tests (mandatory for the entire Helldiver unit) indicated he was force sensitive.
