Description: The C-9982-class heavy frigate is borne from the realization that the weaknesses of its predecessor, the C-9980, were simply startling: lack of fighter support capability, limited point-defense, limited heavy launcher ammunition, limiting its usefulness on the battlefield. Fighter support capability was brought at the cost of removing the ability to transport vehicles from a planet to another, allowing it to carry one squadron of fighters in the lower decks of the central boom. In addition, the hypermatter tanks were refitted with a new self-sealing variety, while new cap drains were added, with the ability to help recharge shields after taking ion fire, albeit with a less-than-perfect efficiency. Additional point-defense emplacements were added to alleviate the threats from fighters, while a missile deactivation transmitter is installed to help cause premature detonations to incoming enemy missiles. And also, to help carry the fighters, sacrfices had to be made, and shield generators took a downsizing.
