Business or pleasure (Marek)

Waverly was on the edge of her seat, but paused before rising. She looked up at Marek when he mentioned that a room had already been arranged. The slightly surprised look on her face faded quickly and was replaced by a smile. She did adore being spoiled, it seemed that her relationship with Bright Star was off to a good start.

“Well, that was very thoughtful.” Waverly said sweetly, batting her eyes at Marek.

She ran her fingers through the lengths of her hair for a moment, making sure every strand was in its place, and also drawing more attention to the low and exposed neckline of her dress (as if that was needed). Waverly stood gracefully and smoothed down her dress again, using her hands to press out any wrinkles from the fabric. Her dark eyes shifted attention to towards the door, where her new bodyguard was waiting outside. She hated brining Kal with her everywhere, but her parents insisted that she be cautious.

“My guard is waiting for me… but if I vouch for you, he will leave us for the night.” She could be straightforward too. “I trust that I will be safe in your capable hands.”

Thoughtful, yeah that was one word for it. Honestly, Bright Star got him the room because they knew he was traveling for this little rendezvous, and as much as he was here on business, his assistant, Alana, whom he was working on stealing back from Sasha Santhe, knew that there were always the chance for Marek to find a plaything, especially if he was traveling far. And who knew, maybe he could swing a ‘successful’ date and a business contract all in one go. He had done more strange things. But he could toss it off as a gift, of sorts.

Watching her stand, he was half expecting her to turn him down. Yeah, he was a Forcer, but he was a crappy user of the Force, and hardly called to it unless he really needed to. And how often did someone NEED the Force, really? Not if they weren’t fighting. Terrible user, like he said. And he hadn’t any clue from the Force whether she was going to run. His life got cushy and his danger sense sometimes wasn’t always firing either. Dangerous.

“Ah, so you have to check in with your chauffeur?” He smirked at her as he got to his feet as well, clearly his eyes taking her in, because now he was in predator mode. Trying to not poke too much fun at her, he nodded. “Here’s a copy of the room key, meet me there?”

Waverly merely smiled at his comment. Only because it happened to be mostly true. While Kal had been hired as security for Waverly, but still had to perform the duties of a chauffeur as well. She accepted the room key and nodded at Marek before making her way outside. Near the door stood a tall man with dark hair, a serious and somewhat melancholy look on his face. It wasn’t that he was sad, that’s just how he always looked.
“Kal, I won’t need your services tonight. Mr. Starchaser will be looking after me.” She said with a smile.

“Miss Dane…” He started, with obvious disapproval in his expression.

She only had to hold her hand up, the sign that she would not be discussing the matter further. Kal may not have been the first choice when it came to fighting, but Waverly chose him because he was easy to boss around. Without a final word, Waverly slipped back inside and made her way to the room. She paused outside the door for a moment, could this be a bad idea? But when she thought of Marek all reservations faded, he was very charming after all, and that was all the justification she needed for tonight.

Waverly scanned the key and stepped inside the lavish room. It was clear that Bright Star spared no expense. She set her things down on a table in the foyer and then made her way into the living room; a smile grew on her face. It looked like the ideal setting for a perfect evening.

See? He wasn’t sure how he felt about that. Sure, it was nice that she had a bodyguard, but it could come across as a babysitter. If she was going to make a name for herself, that bit of information would probably actually help her cause of hunting for men, or women, whichever the show was going to have. Made her seem more… dangerous? Or important. Probably the latter. But if anything that he learned was true, and there were kidnappers? That would boost ratings.

Right, the data for the agreement was sent out, it’d be a few hours, probably morning local time, before the documents were up, then she’d have to go over them, sign them, then they’d be in business. And there wasn’t any business quite like show business. Now it was just a matter of getting him to step up and make something out of Bright Star for the media. He knew that he had his own channels in certain areas, the Hegemony, Techno Union, y’know, where the money was.

He made it to the room and called up some service, basically champagne and some food. Fancy feast really, except not for cats. For people. He heard the door open and poured two glasses of the champagne. “Able to shake him?” He smiled as he approached her when she entered the main room.

[member="Waverly Dane"]

Waverly grinned at Marek as he stepped forward to greet her. She had to admit, it was a rather nice feeling to escape her guard’s watchful eye for the evening. It reminded her much of the days when she would sneak out of the family’s estate, very exhilarating.

“Why, of course.” She answered as she continued to move into the room.

Her gaze shifted towards the spread of fancy plated dishes and champagne, staples for the sort of lavish lifestyle that she was used to. Waverly moved close to Marek and placed her hand on his shoulder, then letting her hand slowly slide down the length of his arm. She slid past him and delicately lifted a champagne flute, eyeing the golden liquid inside.

“Setting the bar, are you?” She said with a hint of laughter at the end. “I expect my dates for the show to be even more extravagant!”

It would make sense that Bright Star would want to play up the glamour, and it would be a perfect complement to the diva that she was. More drama, more ratings!

See? Now this was something he could approve of. A woman drinking. That was always a good sign. Meant she could relax, and well, shaking a bodyguard? That was a good thing too, willing to take risks. He could continue sizing her up all night, he was sure, and part of him was, but that was more the physical aspects than anything else. With her standing and not worried about other eyes, he could clearly size her up especially as he walked around the room, and around her.

Taking in her notice of the food and drink, he grinned. Fine tastes, another thing that made her a wonderful candidate for the concept. Now it was a matter of her lining up dates, and Bright Star finding the right ones and places to send her and the dates. And physical touching. A good sign. Damn, when did Marek get so… analytical? It was body language and he wanted to make sure that flirtation was inevitable from her, for dates, keep everyone interested and not just call next right away.

“Well, between your matchmakers and ours, I’m sure we can find some decent dates. Plus Bright Star will work with other companies to make sure you never get bored with the dates and that someone is doing something for the first time in each scenario.” He winked. “As for setting the bar high? Well, I like to treat potential partners right.” He purposely didn’t include ‘business’ here. Not yet.

Marek’s reassurance made her smile grow brighter, now she was getting excited. Her parent’s match maker would only set up dates at restaurants; it worked, but was a bit old fashioned in her opinion. The idea of visiting new and exotic places was very thrilling indeed. Waverly took a dainty sip of her champagne and then lifted the second flute. She walked slowly back over to Marek and moved close to him, offering up the champagne. After all, it wasn’t very fun to drink alone.

“I’m glad to hear that you’ll take care of me.” She purred, and moved closer still.

Blind dates could be fun; there was always a bit of suspense and surprise. However, that also left the option for things to go awry. What if the other person was a complete bore? At times she did prefer to meet her dates at least once prior to going out, it was a good way to gauge whether or not they would get along.

“I think it would be fun to have a big party to celebrate before the show starts.” She took a sip. “It could be a great way to meet people.”
Waverly inched forward, leaning in slightly towards him.

“Can that be arranged?” She asked, her lips now close to his.

See? This was why it was so easy for Marek to go hunting on his own. Sure, with the likes of Irani, the pair would be unstoppable and could theoretically pick up any type of woman they set their mind to, but Marek was almost designing Bright Star to focus on a particular type, uptown girls and women who did not fear the urban jungle. It just made sense for him, they were the best lookers of the group and [member="Waverly Dane"] ‘s smile proved it. He smiled as she stepped closer and accepted the flute.

Drinking, right, one of his favorite pastimes.

A smile crept across his features as he nodded. “Of course we will.” We, here, was filling in for both he, probably tonight, maybe other evenings, and the company itself. She was a prospective asset, after all. He was resisting reaching out in the Force to brush against her mind and try to sweeten the mood with the Force. Wasn’t necessary with her moving close to him as she was.

He wasn’t moving as she kept coming closer. He took a sip and nodded. Celebrations. “Let’s get some work done on the show, make sure your…” He looked her over, eyes following her neckline for a moment. “Skills aren’t rusty. Make it a debut party.” Start filming in secret, see how the show went and then… Move from there.

His free hand found her hip.

It’s true that Waverly had been out with her share of gentlemen, but it wasn’t all that often that she chose to spend the night with one. She did like to flirt, but she was a bit picky when it came to those she wanted to get close to. Marek was handsome and successful, no one that would dispute that fact (unless perhaps out of jealously), but she felt drawn to him. There was something undefinable that made him seem extra attractive to her, but she couldn’t put her finger on it. All she knew for now was that they’d spent enough time talking about business.

Her dark eyes locked with his and she nodded in agreement with his plan. Waverly felt his touch and took that as an invitation to lean into him slightly. She could already feel the effects of the champagne; she was certainly a lightweight when it came to pretty drinks.

“Cheers, to us… and to business.” She let her flute clink lightly against his and she took another sip.

Her champagne flute was now dangling a bit precariously in her hand, as her attention was elsewhere. Waverly tilted her head to the side just slightly, her eyes closed and she let her lips gently press against his.

For Marek, dating was a sport. It was something he did to pass the time and to get himself from going crazy. Y’know, spending time with women, learning about them, learning about himself, and doing his best to make some other girls jealous. It was always what he did, push himself around so other women would notice him, and get their attention. One thing that was constant with Marek was the golden rule; new is always better. Four simple words.

This though, this was just good fun. She’d be off limits come the next day or two, and well, Marek didn’t like leaving things undone. When she clinked her glass to his he smiled, finishing his drink. His arm wrapped around her waist when their lips matched.

And really, we all know how that was going to end.

Waverly’s eyes slowly blinked open and she awoke to light streaming into the clean white curtains. Her gaze shifted to her bedside table, for a moment she was surprised to see that her usual latte was not there. Ah, yes… Kal would not have wanted to deliver her favorite morning beverage to a hotel room, where she had spent the night with another man. For a moment she wondered what time it was, but she figured that it was not early in the morning, based on the amount of light coming through the window and the fact that she never rose early (unless forced to).

She rolled over, and saw that Marek was still in bed next to her. Waverly moved closer, her head close to his shoulder, and she let her arm wrap around him. She just wanted to bask in his presence and in his warmth for a bit longer. Of course, she knew that this was likely a one-time thing, once she officially started working for Bright Star, things would change. Waverly also had the distinct impression that Marek was not the sort of man to be tied down to one person. Oh well, she had her new show to look forward to, and she couldn’t forget about the fact that there would be other handsome and successful men in her future.

Though, Marek had set the bar quite high indeed.

“Good morning…” She said quietly, even though it was likely the afternoon. Waverly kissed him on the cheek and smiled.

And where were the spiders
Staying around for the next morning? That was a new trick for Marek. He was typically gone long before the sun made its way around the world. He didn’t get up, he wasn’t running. [member="Waverly Dane"] was going to make him a lot of money, and well, she was a bit of fun last night, so he could not fault her there! He enjoyed a good time as much as anyone else did, and well, credits on top of that? Yes please. Plus, that’d be unprofessional, it wasn’t like he had to be at work. He ran entertainment, he had a lot of people who knew what they were doing more than he did.

A one time thing? Most likely, but he didn’t want to jinx it. They did have fun and now she was working for him. It’d make things complicated if word got out that a date went bad and he swooped in to make her feel better. Though that possibility… that was a nice thought, but still, it could complicate things. Especially as the man did separate physical needs and attraction from desire for a person. Was that a bad skill to have?

“Morning.” He stirred, smiling as he wrapped an arm around her. “Sleep well?”

[member="Waverly Dane"]

Waverly sighed happily as she felt his arm wrap around her, this was the life. She had to admit that she was quite taken with Marek, but she couldn’t let this get in the way of her future success with Bright Star. And she didn’t want to appear clingy or desperate, that just wasn’t classy.

“Oh, yes.” Waverly smiled, she had slept quite well indeed. “I had fun last night.” She said, reminiscing for a moment.

This was just the first of many meetings to come, she was sure of it. However, when they met next time, she could already be involved with another man. Now, a love triangle would certainly guarantee drama and the thought was very amusing. She would just have to wait and see what the future held. Waverly sat up slightly, taking in Marek’s handsome features.

“Well, here’s to future… meetings.” She said with a smirk, and then leaned in to kiss him once more.
