Bridger Axii "Mando"

BRIDGER AXII

xcAb7R3.png

Hailing from Concord Dawn, Bridger was born to a Mandalorian on the planet. His father was Jazen Axii, and he led a small enclave of Mandalorians that belonged to the clan Axii. Jazen trained Bridger in the ways of the Mandalorian, placing honor, strength, and loyalty over all. The clan Axii believed in the ways like the shattered remnants of the old True Mandalorians, a strong faction that followed the Supercommando Codex that fought against Deathwatch and other reformist groups within Mandalore. After the demise of many of the True Mandalorians as a result of the scheming political tactics of the Clan Vizsla to win the war for Mandalore, those few and far between who survived spread out throughout the outer-rim, carrying the tradition of The Code and the Resol’Nare, believing that an idea can never be killed.

Unfortunately just like in much of Mandalore’s history, whether it be the Jedi, the Republic, Separatists, or Empire, Mandalore would never be safe from war, the harsh and unforgivable planet of Concord Dawn an example of that. During his voyage through the outer-rim, Bridger remained fairly isolated from communication, unaware of the events transpiring. To his dismay, when he returned to his enclave, his clan was in mourning following the death of the clan Leader and his father, Jazen Axii. Jazen was out on a hunt, and was shot and killed by unknown mercenaries, leaving behind a piece of torn cloth and a pendant. The killers stripped Jazen of his helm, and left his body tossed in the wasteland. The motives of the killing was unknown, but it was without question a contracted killing.
After the Kote Ky’ram of his father, Bridger refused the position of Clan Leader, believing he would not deserve the title until he found and brought justice to his fathers’ killer. Refurbishing his father’s old armor with help of the clan Armorer, Bridger set off to prove his worth to his clan and himself, to bring his father the justice he deserved, and to continue the tradition of the clan, hoping to return with a foundling and carry on the tradition. Money would need to be made along the way, as the Mandalorian takes on jobs, usually in the hired gun or hunting department.
It was a dark night on Nar Shaddaa when the Beggars Dream, a smuggler's vessel of ill repute, landed on one of the abandoned landing platforms in the city's lower districts. A few passengers were let off after paying their fare, and they wandered off to find their destination in the Vertical City. The smugglers then began the arduous work of unloading the cargo. Of course, using droids and repulsor lifts made it far less arduous. As they worked, one last passenger stepped down the ramp onto the landing platform.
A Mandalorian, dressed from top to toe in the easily recognizable Mandalorian beskar'gam, he was bound to draw attention anywhere he went - except for in Nar Shaddaa. The Vertical City was the one place where anyone, even a Mandalorian, could disappear. The smugglers exchanged a quick look with his anonymous, impenetrable T-shaped visor, but quickly looked the other way. The Mandalorian started a calm walk towards the alleys that led into the city, ready to embark on his journey under the light of the way.

APPEARANCE

Black curly hair, a squared jaw with light stubble and green eyes. Skin is of fairer tone due to race and typically always being in his armor. Has a toned build like most of his people, and remains in good physical health and constitution, aside from usual aches and pains from his work. Bridger has a mesomorphic body type.

SKILLS

Like many of his people, Bridger was taught his ways around a blaster, as well as a variety of martial arts and melee combat skills. He learned basic survival skills living on the rough and unforgivable planet Concord Dawn, learning to hunt for food and cook it, as well as bandaging wounds and other valuable skills for surviving in bleak conditions. He gained a good sense for hunting and predicting movements of prey. When he was of age he learned his way around a starship, and was able to pilot his own with relative ease.

PERSONALITY

He is a simple Mandalorian, truth be told. Fiercely loyal to his people and his culture, it takes an immense amount of effort for him to warm up to someone he believes to be an “outsider.” Once someone finds themselves on his good side, however, he is willing to go to the ends of the galaxy if it meant defending them or their honor. To that end, he may come across as foolishly noble, but only if it coincides with his Mandalorian ideals. At other times, he may seem distant or cold, especially around aruetiise – outsiders. He's especially cold around Force users, who he feels are unnatural and violate the mundane nature of the universe.

As a Mandalorian, Bridger respects straightforwardness, honor, courage, and martial prowess. Cowardice and dishonor are fates worse than death in his eyes, and he is willing to go to extremes if it means avoiding these grim fates. In battle, he is a calculated and callous killer, more interested in the glory of combat than any other purpose for fighting. He’s not a mere brute, however, and his conscience does, at times, plague him. He avoids innocent death where he can, but accepts that there are risks in war, though it doesn’t make him any less ill when these risks manifest.

“Strength is life, for the strong have the right to rule.”

It’s a joke that Mandalorians learn to fight before they can walk. From a young age, Bridger was taught his ways around a blaster, close quarters, and melee combat. His father was the strong-silent type, and Bridger hoped to model himself after that, believing the loudest in the room usually has the least to show for it. Strength is not only in physical aptitude, but the strength to resist temptations that are strictly forbidden against the Mandalorian Code and Resol’nare.

“Honor is life, for with no honor one may as well be dead.”

True Mandalorians place honor as paramount, believing in it over the barbarism and brigandage followed by those of the Deathwatch and Dar’manda. Bridger believes in moral decency above savagery, not willing to take on jobs from scum and criminals with grudges against one another. Instead, following his moral code, Bridger takes on contracts against criminals and other slime, as well as mercenary work, not wanting to taint himself or his clan to ever work and kill for slime.

“Loyalty is life, for without one’s clan one has no purpose.”

Bridger is fiercely loyal to his clan, and remains in communication with them despite his travels throughout the outer and mid-rim territories. He hates schemers and backstabbers, and believes the world would and could be a better place if people kept their word and had each other’s backs. Because of his fierce loyalty to his proud culture and people, any insults or remarks made about such would be met with swift justice on Bridger’s part.

“Death is life, one should die as they have lived.”

Though he’d rather not die, he does not fear death and believes it is sacred. He was born and raised a warrior, and will plan to die as a warrior, never selling his soul or his people’s souls for any power-hungry faction much like the Jedi or the Sith. He hopes when his time comes it will be honorably and for a good cause.

PERSONAL BESKAR'GAM
Although heavy armor is the preference for many Mandalorians- especially front line shock troopers- many Mandalorian Bounty Hunters and other loners make use of lighter armor that allows them more mobility and flexibility for completing their tasks, while still offering reliable protection and the intimidating presence of their signature t-visors. With the increasing rarity of pure Beskar, many Mandalorians have turned to lighter armor styles that allow them more flexibility and maneuverability to make up for their decreased defensive properties of inferior armor materials. Like all Mandalorian armor, every one of these suits is unique to their wearer, and the range of customization options is huge.

FUNCTION 1: WRIST ROCKET
  • Wrist rockets have a flight range of 100 meters and have a blast radius of 3 meters. They are single-shot devices and require manual reloading after use. They are effective against lightly armored vehicles, moving parts such as gears or hydraulics, and infantry, and do equivalent damage to a frag grenade. The must be manually fired by button or trigger.

FUNCTION 2: WRIST FLAMETHROWER
  • Wrist flamers are rare, expensive, and dangerous armor attachments favored by mercenaries and soldiers more than bounty hunters, and are illegal in many systems. Wrist flamers are powered by small fuel capsules, and typically hold enough for 3 short bursts of flame. These bursts last 2 seconds, are one meter wide and have a maximum range of 3 meters. The weapon must be manually activated via button or switch, and must be disassembled to be reloaded.

FUNCTION 3: JUMP BOOTS
  • This rare and expensive technology is able to propel a person up to 10 meters beyond what a normal person would normally be able to jump, especially when armored. It is not capable of sustained flight, and requires a brief engine cool-down before it can be used again (1 post cool-down).

FUNCTION 4: THERMAL UNDERSUIT
  • Thermal undersuits wick away or reflect thermal energy for brief periods of time. They are not nearly as effective as a suit that firefighters would wear. Most commonly used to protect soldiers from flamethrower weapons or short bursts of extreme heat or cold, and are only good for 1-2 posts of exposure depending on intensity. They are useless against blasters.

FUNCTION 5: WHIPCORD THROWER
  • The whipcord launcher was a personal weapon that fired a thin fiber cord whip which then wrapped around and ensnared the target to restrict mobility up to 10 meters away while remaining attached to the mount point. It was detachable with a second use of the firing button. The whipcord launcher was favored by bounty hunters, as it was easy to carry and use and it virtually always ensured a live capture, though it could be cut by a vibro blade with ease.
