CONTENTS
  • Capable of siphoning off fast incoming projectile's energy to make them relatively harmless.
  • Said energy is slowly funneled into the wearer and their mental strength is buffed.
Strengths:
  • Constant: The field is always active comparable to a very low-level force drain effect. At worst grass and insects might start to die, people feel slightly tired. Nothing combat practical, until danger appears in the form of fast incoming projectiles. The faster the projectile, the more effective the bracers are to neutralize it. A verpine shatter-rifle's projectile would only cause a light knock. To be clear: this is not a constant force drain field, it's effect when not 'activated' by a fast-moving projectile is
  • Unaware: Because it is a passive effect, the wearer does not need to be aware of the danger. It works similar to a energy shield in that regard.
  • Resistant: It retains the resistance alchemical objects possess and can dissipate force lightning to a degree.
  • Nihil: The nihil smokestone within the gauntlets slightly buff the mental strength of the wearer. Usually this is only minor, but it can increase while under fire.
Weaknesses:
  • Slow: It becomes steadily less useful depending on the speed of the projectile. Very effective against verpine shatter-rifles, effective against regular slug-throwers, good against blasters. But arrows, rocks, a punch? Darts? Blades? They do not possess the kinetic energy to be affected by the bracers.
  • Residual: A slugthrower will still bruise, a blaster will still burn, the farther you go away from the speed of the verpines, the more damage its going to cause to the wearer.
  • Forceborn: Ysalamir and other force-null fields make the bracers inert and useless.
  • Darkside: This was made through the Darkside. It can be detected by the Light and made inert just the same with it.
  • Range: Natural limits are applicable. At point blank this would be less effective than from sniper range for instance.
  • Limit: They don't work without limits. It won't soak up intense turret fire- instead it's more focused on assassination acts where one projectile or blaster bolt could mean the difference between life and death.
DESCRIPTION
The Bracers of Inertia were discovered among the trove of artifacts salvaged from a hidden Sith retreat on Arkania by Lord Itash of House Mecetti. It was unknown who made them, for what purpose and when, but Tash enjoyed their look and decided to wear them regardless as he looked good in them.

Typical.

They figured out just what they were capable of during a training incident where one of the man accidentally shot Itash in the chest with a high-powered blaster rifle. Instead of expiring, he was left with some burns that were treated with bacta. They discovered that the bracers projected a consistent field of energy drain around the wearer, when worn by someone of the Force. This field was similar in concept to the Gungan Energy Shields exhibited during the Naboo conflicts millenia ago.

It's principle seemed to be as such: Fast thing comes in? Slow it down. Slow thing comes in? Gotta deal with that on your own.

A projectile, blaster bolt, they would all be reduced at impact. They might bruise, might burn, but they won't kill... immediately. An arrow or a knife thrown was a different story though.

Furthermore damage would pile on regardless and too much impact could cause the gauntlets to 'shut off' entirely. This would leave the wearer completely at the mercy of any flying bullets or blaster bolts. So, it wouldn't be a good idea to go prancing about on a battlefield, thinking that these bracers are going to keep soaking everything up.

Soon before you know it... ya dead.

Interesting creation, and I love the weakness of how slower projectiles are pretty much unphased. I expect Dathomir witches to be your mortal enemy. Seems balanced to me, and I do not see anything wrong. I do apologize for the two day wait though.

I am slightly confused by this strength. Does this create what would essentially be a protective bubble in the vicinity of the wearer at all times? Or does the person have to actively recognize a threat and direct the gauntlets to activate? If it is the former, there should be a range limit, as well as a degree of variance depending on the distance. If shot point blank, the distance traveled versus the distance to slow the kinetic force is much smaller than if fired from 300 meters away.
