GENERAL INFORMATION
Name: Blood Nettle
Origins: Tythe
Other Locations: Blood Nettle can be found on many desert planets in galaxy, provided they get some sort of rain water every month or so.
Classification: Plant/Shrub
Average Growth Cycle: The average growing time for a Blood Nettle is 25-30 years. This is due to the plant’s extremely slow growth, only growing a couple of inches every year until it reaches full height. More water won’t really increase this plant’s growth rate. It starts out as a central root for the first half of it’s life, before eventually sprouting long, sharp, pointed leaves.
Viability: Coming from a desert planet and thriving in those types of regions, a Blood Nettle needs very little water to survive. Blood Nettles have been seen surviving for up to four months without a single drop of water, since they store whatever they do get in their central stem. They do, however, need at least fourteen hours of sunlight a day to continue growing. Soil doesn’t much matter either, having been observed growing on the sides of rocky mountains and sandy plains.
Description: Blood Nettle gets it’s name not only from the extremely sharp leaves that extend out from the core root, but the coloration of these leaves as well. While the main root may be yellowish-white, the leaves start at the base mirroring the root’s color, but end in a deep red. Some might describe the plant as alluringly beautiful, but certainly not if one has been unlucky enough to brush up against it’s leaves, which have been known to slash an arm deeply if the skin is unprotected.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Average Height: 4m to 6m in height.
Average Length: 1m to 1.3m wide.
Color: The central root has a yellow to white color, and the leaves have a white to blood red gradient up the leaf.
Nutritional Value: None
Toxicity: None
Other Effects: If the leaves of Blood Nettle are removed, they can then be boiled and stripped to create fibers for clothing, shoes, and even tool coverings.
Distinctions: The most unique parts of this plant is it’s ability to grow in some of the most hostile conditions in the galaxy as well as it’s extremely sharp leaves. Not many plants can go many months without fresh water and still continue to grow and survive, but Blood Nettle gets to

Strengths:
Water source: If a person or animal is stranded in the desert, Blood Nettle can provide a source of water that might just keep that being alive, if they can get through the knife sharp leaves.
Clothing maker: Once treated, the leaves of Blood Nettle can create some very breathable, fashionable clothes for any desert adventurer.

Weaknesses:
Sharp, sharp, sharp!: Blood Nettle doesn’t just get it’s name from it’s coloring. The leaves of this plant are razor, knife sharp. They can slice clean through skin, and deep too.
Long wait: This plant doesn’t grow in a day. Or really, in a year. No, Blood Nettle takes a very long time to grow, so much so that trying to grow a group of them isn’t very viable.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Blood Nettle has long been known to be the last chance for a stranded being in the desert for any sort of water. If they are able to survive the leaves, then they will be rewarded with the water of life this plant can store. Stories have been told of travelers of the Tythe deserts finding bodies laid up against this plant, so desperate for any source of water they would rather make the last ditch effort of braving the Blood Nettle than spend a single day more without the life sustaining liquid.
