OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
• Name: Blighter
• Designation: Non-sentient
• Homeworld: Valrar (specimens imported from Felucia)
• Language: No language
• Average Lifespan: 25 years
• Estimated Population: Scattered
• Description: The Blighter's appearance is more akin to a bloated slug that had centipede legs grafted onto it, with chitin covering it's head
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
• Breathes: Type I
• Average height of adults: 2 meters
• Average length of adults: 3 meters
• Skin color: Purple and brown
• Hair color: No hair
• Distinctions: The most distinctive physical traits of the Blighters are its large bulbous body and the claws it uses to burrow into the ground and walk.
• Races: No other races
• Strengths:
1. Much like the Festerer Sithspawn, the Blighter can burrow quickly down into soil between the combination of its claws and its natural corrosive body secretions (this corrosive agent is only useful in breaking down soil, cannot be used as a weapon).
2. Has a secondary sensor organ so it can sense potential victims while underground through vibrations and bio-electricity in a fifty meter radius
3. As part of its insidious role, the Blighter has two sinister weapons in its arsenal. The first of these is it can unleash a horrible mutagenic airborne virus that can turn enemies into Sithspawn mutants within hours (between six and twelve) of exposure (to be subbed separately, PC infection requires permission from PC). The virus can be spread to individuals within a ten meter radius of the Blighter's growths.
4. The second weapon the Blighter has in its possession is the modified brain worms it keeps contained within its bloated body (contains six to eight brain worms within its body at any given time, and it takes a day to regrow them). These modified brain worms can be spat out one at a time and will seek out hosts that are then enslaved to the Blighter through the symbiotic Force link the brain worms have with the Blighter (only Force ability it has), with the Blighter using these slave to protect it from harm for the life of the brain worm (roughly six hours). More importantly, the Sith controlling the Blighter can also control these brain worms and thus control their victims (PC infection and control requires permission from PC). After the brain worm dies, it disintegrates and the victim is left with nothing but a head cold and the memory of whatever actions they took.
• Weaknesses:
1. Blighters are not designed in the slightest for direct combat, meaning they have no offensive capabilities of their own. They can only rely on their puppets or other Sithspawn for protection.
2. Blighters also have no armor except for the light chitin on their heads, but even that cannot stop even a blaster bolt or a stone thrown hard enough. They are extremely squishy and the simplest attacks can severely harm or kill them.
3. Cannot survive in cold environments or being exposed to cold agents (such as carbonite). Coldness also breaks brain worm control, killing them.
4. Applications of the Light side such as Force Light or Force Healing can kill the creature and cure those exposed to its virus (before mutation).
5. Blighters have an allergy to ixetal cilona, which causes their bodies to swell up and rupture violently within moments of exposure.
6. The virus it can exude is not discriminate, it will infect both friend and foe alike. The only ones who are safe are those that utilize the dark side of the Force, or those in environment suits/sealed armor.
7. Blighters, when not underground, are not very fast at all, only being able to move at a waddle.
8. Force nullification fields, such as a ysalamir bubble or Void Stone, will sever the link between the brain worms and Blighter, killing the brain worms instantly.
9. While underground and trying to carry out its mission, one can find a Blighter by looking for the growths it needs to keep above-ground to emit the virus and to breathe. Blocking or damaging these will force the Blighter to surface or cause it to suffocate.
CULTURE
• Diet: Omnivore (plants, fungus, molds, creatures that live in the soil it digs through)
• Communication: Gurgles and growls to fellow members of its species
• Technology level: No technology level
• Religion/Beliefs: No religion or belief system
• General behavior: When not out infecting beings with the virus Eldaah's Master imparted to it or creating brain worm slaves, the Blighter is actually rather docile. They will keep to themselves mostly, perfectly content with feeding on plant life or the creatures that live in the dirt and lazing about when it knows danger is not near. If it is presented with a possible threat that its two avenues of defense can't do anything against, it will burrow into the ground as quickly as it can or waddle away as fast as its legs can go. When out infecting, it will also choose to keep itself burrowed in the earth, exuding the virus from growths on its back that poke out of the ground that it also takes in air through.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Out of all the Sithspawn that Eldaah had assisted her Master with creating, the Blighter was probably the most insidious creature yet. Their creation had begun when Eldaah had spirited away several Felucian snails from their homeworld of Felucia, and then was sent by her Master to also abduct several Milodon specimens. Her Master had proceeded, in secret, to Geonosis to obtain the final piece of the puzzle that would be the Blighter. Once all the pieces were assembled, Eldaah's Master began the work.

Taking traits from the Milodon and Felucian Snail, the Blighter looks much like one would expect, a horrible amalgamation of parts to form the vector through which her Master would create a support Sithspawn for ground operations. The Blighter was not designed to participate in combat directly, at all, and if it is attacked, it will die from the simplest attack hitting it such as a blaster bolt or even a thrown rock. They are slow while walking, moving around at a waddle due to its bloated abdomen. It can't survive in cold temperatures or when attacked with weapons such as Cryoban grenades or carbonite weapons. It also has a curious allergy to ixetal cilona that will cause its body to swell up and burst. At all appearances, the creature is incredibly weak... but its strengths lie elsewhere.

Much like the Festerer strain, the Blighters are able to burrow into the ground, using a combination of their legs and a natural secretion that weakens soil and rock. While underground, it has a secondary sensory organ that lets it sense vibrations and bio-electricity from organisms, giving it a sense of where enemies or victims are. Once it locates potential victims, that is when the Blighter's sinister weapons are put into place. The first weapon the Blighter has at its disposal is a mutagenic virus, not unlike those that create rakghouls or Vongspawn, that turn those infected with it into a new breed of Sithspawn. The virus can be cured with applications of the Light side of the Force before mutation occurs, typically within the first few hours of infection, and can't infect those within environment suits or who utilize the dark side of the Force. It emits this virus through use of growths on the Blighter's back that stay above-ground when it is burrowed.

The second weapon it has at its disposal is the symbiotic brain worms that it keeps within its abdomen, much like an egg sac. The Blighter can spit these brain worms out to enslave beings, controlling the victims through the symbiotic telepathic link it has with the brain worms. These slaves are used either as an easy to infect being with the virus or to protect itself from attacks, with the brain worms living for roughly six hours once they leave the Blighter's body. This link also allows a Sith controlling the Blighter to control the slaves, however, this link can be severed through the use of a ysalamir field or void stone and this will kill these brain worms. They also still have the weakness to cold, although it was exasperated so they will instead die.

• Could you please provide a link for this species?

• Range?

• Even if it requires PC permission, I'd loathe to see this used to turn whole NPC armies on a whim. Please tone down the time required for infection, and give me a range on how far a single Blighter can unleash the virus.

• I'd like a limitation on the number of these worms, how long it takes to regrow them, how often it can spit them, etc. Elaborate on these points, please.
• Is this a Force-based telepathic link? I presume it is, given that nullification fields sever it. Does this mean the creatures are Force sensitive in general?
• What happens to the host after those six hours? Do they die? Does the worm harmlessly disintegrate?
All in all, interesting abilities and a solid set of Weaknesses. Address the above points, and we should be good to go.
