SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Alchemised
  • Can heal grave injuries
    Requires sacrifice
STRENGTHS
  • Through the power of the device, the wearer is able to heal grievous injuries, restoring a degree of functionality even to a severely injured body. An injured or poisoned body will be invigorated and be able to sustain itself for longer. However, it does not ensure perfect health or wholesome recovery.
WEAKNESSES
  • Ysalamiri and such make the device powerless.
  • Vulnerable to Force Light.
  • Requires sacrifice. It harvests energy from the condemned to heal the wounded or sick, though with great pain. The graver the patient's ailments, the greater the sacrifice. In extreme cases, life must pay for life. It has an alternate setting where it draws life energy from the wielder. This will obviously weaken the wielder...and has the potential to be debilitating or even fatal depending on how much of their life force they draw upon.
  • To use the healing device is rather taxing and exhausting. This means that it is not very practical to use in the middle of combat, leaving the user vulnerable.

DESCRIPTION

Force healing is generally considered to be the exclusive domain of the Light Side. However, this is a mistaken assumption. The Dark Side can be used to heal, but such power comes at a terrible price. In many cases, the results are only temporary or require a ghastly sacrifice. For example, one of the practicioners of dark side healing was Darth Bane, who resorted to a twisted form of Force healing to keep himself alive long enough to reach a real healer after being poisoned.

He accomplished this murdering a farmer's children before tha man's eyes and feeding on the pain that ensued. Millennia before he was born, Exar Kun's shattered body was repaired through the power of the Dark Side after being crushed in the tomb of Freedon Nadd. Both Darth Sion and Darth Vader are good examples of the twisted form dark side healing can take. The Blessed Chirurgeon Device of Transference was created by Kyriaki some time after the events during the Chios Incident allowed her to masquerade as a blessed figure among the Vaderites. Gullible cultists and proles believe she is especially blessed by the Dark Father.

In truth, she loathes the genocidal, human supremacist Vaderites and the masses of 'ordinary men and women' who follow them and aid and abett their atrocities. But she cannot defeat them through force of arms. She is but one woman, her body is frail and she has not been blessed with incredible strength in the Force. She will never be a conquering warlord. But she has an iron will, a fanatical desire to destroy the Vaderite at any cost and a talent for deception.

The Blessed Chirugeon Device allows her to masquerade as a devout lady of the faith, using her powers to heal the 'deserving'. Of course, there is a price. It must draw energy from a victim to heal another person...or from the wielder. The latter must be employed sparingly, but under the right circumstances it is a way for her to present herself as particularly saintly, for she is suffering for her patients' sins. The device resembles mechanical spider which clasps on and sinks its 'fangs' into the donor. The spike then sticks into the recipient and transfers their essence across.

Conveniently, the Church of the Dark Father teaches that the efficacy of a treatment has less to do with the competence of the doctor and more with the moral character of the patient. In other words, if you don't get better, it's due to some moral failing on your part because it all comes down to the will of the Great Vader and St. Padme. This is very convenient because dark side healing is often unreliable. . Some people who were saved from dying by the item have even claimed they heard voices and experienced hallucinations. Perhaps because it carries an echo of the person who was sacrificed.
