The Smash Mouth is a 'knock you down and you won't get up' kind of blaster. It has enough stopping power to break through most armour types and it is extremely accurate up to twenty meters but no further than ninety meters. However, it begins to lose i't stopping power once it exceeds the ninety meter range mark. The weapon is excellent for close to semi-close quarters combat. It is not recommended for long distance fire-fights.
With the drop handle feature, one quick tug and the empty cell or canister is expunged from the weapon in two seconds; allowing the user to reload faster. The mini scope aids in it's accuracy but it's best asset is that the lens can detect heat signatures and the infrared aspect allows the shooter to see in the dark when targets are using heat signature resistant armours.
It does have it's drawbacks, though. The blaster, due to it's stopping power, has a terrible recoil forcing the user to either employ two hands to shoot or proper muscular mass to offshoot the recoil. The ammo capacity is low compared to the more traditional blasters in the galaxy, but again it possesses the easy reloading mechanism of the drop handle.
The most noticeable drawback of the weapon is the coldness of the weapon, due to the vardium steel; thus gloves or hand-based armour is required to use the weapon. Without such precautions and due to the cold temperatures of the metal, it could easily remove flesh from bare hands/paws/appendages.
