TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Lightsaber

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Strange Aura: The lightsaber possesses a strange signature in the Force. Force users in the area might miss it, but those actively paying attention to the Lightsaber definitely notice.
  • Force Anomaly: The source of the strange aura. Any Force user that takes the time to inspect this anomaly will become slightly nauseated. It is almost as if the lightsaber is...diseased...
  • Message in a Bottle: The original user bonded with the crystal within this blade. The bond was so strong that some of his memories were stored in the crystal. Whether this was intentional or not is another question.
  • Runic Hilt: The blade is covered in ancient runes, some in Mandalorian script, some in High Sith, but most completely foreign to modern linguists. However, it does bear some resemblance to ancient texts discovered on Tatooine...
Strengths:
  • Sturdy composition: For its time, the Lightsaber is an unparalleled work of art. Nearly unbreakable thanks to its layered Beskar and Cortosis Weave.
Weaknesses:
  • Dysfunctional: While the weapon was certainly state-of-the-art five thousand years ago, these days it's little more than a paperweight. The activation matrix is worn down, and cannot be repaired without being completely replaced.
  • Diseased: The original wielder of this blade suffered a great wound in the Force. The echoes of this wound can still be felt in the blade.
DESCRIPTION
This lightsaber was originally forged some time around the Zakuulan War by a master saber-smith whose name has since been lost to time. Today the blade would be little more than an antique, but in the day it was forged, it would have been worth millions of credits for the craftsmanship alone. The Crystal Matrix within bears no resemblance to any other lightsabers recovered from that era, suggesting that the being who forged it had his own unique method. This method, however, requires constant tuning in order to maintain the blade, and has rendered the lightsaber inert through the millennia, as the proper tuning methods have been lost along with the being that forged it.

The lightsaber was designed with a Cortosis Weave Core shielding the Crystal Matrix, which prompts speculation that this design choice was what necessitated the unusual tuning scheme. The shell of the blade was comprised of Beskar, a rare and extremely valuable material in the days of the Old Republic. This material was rarely seen outside of Mandalorian culture when it was forged, suggesting that it was either originally forged for a Mandalorian, or the creator held enough standing with Mandalorians to permit purchase of the material. The runes covering the blade are a mix of languages, with one being so old that modern linguists have trouble discerning the nature of the language. The Mando'a and High Sith runes are inscribed along opposite sides of the hilt, both roughly translating to the same thing: "Blade of Sorrow."
