Faction Biology 101 (SJO Padawans+Allies)

Ura looked at the body, feeling a calming sense from Taozi. Wait...? Wasn't she a Mandalorian, not a Jedi? At least Ura hadn't heard that she was Force sensitive. Eh.... She needed to focus on the task at hand. Some of the others were asking what exactly happened to bodies laid before them, but it seemed that some part of Ura's old training had kicked in. It didn't bother her as much. The Padawan simply followed the instructions given. She followed the lines, if maybe cutting a little too deep. She then looked down and into an organic being. It was.... A little unnerving. She did get a bit worried as something else same up.

What were rib sheers, and what was a saw. Yes, the second one probably sounded stupid, but Ura was from a desert planet. Saws weren't really a thing. Thankfully Xian asked how to get under the bones. Ura just looked, waiting to see what to do.

Sam's eyes traced the lines on the cadaver, reaching the bottom of the breasts exactly when Taozi Fuyuan Taozi Fuyuan mentioned them. She blushed and looked away for a moment, before letting out a sigh and picking up the scalpel. The sharp blade easily cut through the skin as she traced the lines, doing her best not to cut too deep. To say Sam was nervous was an understatement, she had never done anything like this before and it felt so weird. The thought of cutting open a person like this had never crossed her mind, and definitely not something she thought she'd be doing today.

Once all the lines were cut, she set down the scalpel and picked up the rib shears. Figuring out how to cut the ribs was a little more....difficult. After a minute or so, she finally got the shears around the first rib. Using the strength in her prosthetic forearms, she squeezed down on the shears. The sound the rib made when cut made her cringe and her stomach turn a little. Letting out a slow breath, she moved to the next rib, then the next. Finally, she had all the ribs cut. If Sam's hands could shake, they would as she pulled the ribcage up and off the cadaver, revealing everything underneath.

Amani remained tight-lipped as Taozi Fuyuan Taozi Fuyuan lectured the class on her Sith stories, and did her best to listen to the instructions she gave despite the corpse laying right in front of her being a bit of a distraction to the naive padawan. Retrieving the scalpel from the table, she got to work cutting along the marked lines on the chest. She couldn't help but look at the face of the cadaver several times. A woman, relatively young, seemingly. Best not to dwell on it.

In spite of her nerves, Amani maintained a calm exterior. The incisions were quite precise, though she changed her tune once she exposed the chest cavity. "Ohhh, gross." She picked up the rib shears, locking them around the first rib, and promptly setting them back down immediately after taking it out. The sound of snapping bone made her feel sick and she turned away from the body for a moment. Amani hadn't really thought of herself as the queasy type, but she had also never thought of herself as the type to be opening up corpses in the first place. "Give me juuuust a second, okay?"

Metis blushed furiously as the lecture launched into her tirade, she hadn’t been aware of the teachers history or personal experience. From what she was saying she had her reasons for being a little callous in general, Metis might not have known in detail the recent struggles the Mandalorians had had but she had studied the Mandalorian culture in some detail. Most Mandalorians were while honourable were hardly humanitarian or altruistic in most regards. This particular Mandalorian however more to the point had dedicated her life towards healing, despite having more than enough reason to turn to violence.

Metis could empathise with her feelings for the Sith Empire, and she certainly didn’t harbour any Sith sympathy’s herself. Everything Metis had studied or learned about them was that they were obsessed with power, willing to do anything to get it and that was putting it nicely at best. If Metis had been through what Taozi had, she didn’t imagine she would be caring with how respectful her genocidal enemy’s corpses were being treated.

Metis lowered her eyes and picked up the tools for the class. She worked diligently at the task before her deciding not to speak up further in the class, despite having quite a few questions relevant to biology. Mainly she wanted to ask what organs most biological lifeforms had in common, and if there were significant differences between various species, both sentient and bestial in nature. Given that she had just been shutdown rather severely for speaking out of turn, she thought it best not to ask.
