Alira Tecti
Character
In the captain's quarters of a lone star destroyer, a young woman was blasting music from her terminal since she had nothing to do. They more money than she expected in the past month and so she chose not to take any contracts for the time being. But it wasn't until a day into her self imposed vacation that she started to get bored and angsty, so she blasted music to drown any thoughts of boredom and turn her head off for an hour or twenty four. Her holocommunicator was going off however and she sighed exasperatingly. Sure she was bored but she didn't want to be bothered either. As the captain she could hang up but she was too nice for that, she wanted to show others that she cared about what others wanted especially if she wanted to keep her crew happy.
"Captain Tecti." She said turning down the music from her terminal.
"ALIIIII!"
The screaming on the other side of the line made the captain wince as she recognized the young woman on the other side of the line.
"What do you want lieutenant?" She asked annoyingly as she turned down the music.
"Remember that one ruby we got after that run to Karzak?"
"Maybe?"
"The pursers found a buyer for it on Nar Shadda! 25,000 CREDITS!"
It was chump change but a payday was a payday.
"How much after paying the pursers?"
"25,000! Accounting already processed the payments. We're gonna go to Drive Yard."
Drive Yard was one of the night clubs that was part of the many refurbishments to turn a war ship into a part commercial space station.
"I'll be there in 20."
Cheering could be heard on the other side before Alira hung up and began to make her way to the club. Her type of behavior was unbecoming for the Imperial captain she was raised to be and fraternizing in front of her subordinates was still something that took a lot of getting used to considering how everyone was brought up in The Dark Empire or any Imperial society for that matter, it was strange to see imperial officers behave so rashly on an imperial vessel. But such discipline was not required since they were an independent vessel. The Dark Empire registrations held no weight and the star destroyer belonged to the crew. Hence, the vessel was no different than any other freighter in the galaxy.
The culture has morphed into something of a hybrid between an imperial and a spacer way of life that has resulted in a positive impact for the crew. Maybe a little too positive.
With something to do, Captain Tecti was no longer bored out of her mind and the ship's CO was getting wasted at a night club. Her and some of her staff were celebrating the pay they got for procuring the ruby that Alira forgot about. But that was out of sight out of mind. Her friends were getting wasted in the middle of empty space. But maybe she was having a little too much fun as she indulged in more than what she could handle and was starting to lose all sense as she was flailing around on the dance floor.
