SPECIAL FEATURES
- The bark of the Kaamarampi yazhe vine can be decocted to produce a psychoactive byproduct, which when distilled is commonly known as Bia'axijye (though other cultures may use other names). Bia'axijye (pronounced 'bee-ah-OXY-jee-yay'), when consumed, usually induces vomiting within minutes, and shortly after begins to affect the consumer within an hour. Over the next 2 to 6 hours, the person who consumed the drink will commonly experience psychoactive hallucinations and mild euphoria.
- These hallucinations, combined with the euphoric response, commonly induce a marked change of mindset and/or attitude in the user. It has been reported to have minor antidepressant and anti-anxiety benefits.
- A standard 'dose' for consumption is approximately 100mL for a 95kg human.
- 4 times the standard dose (or more) can frequently cause death. For this reason, it is strongly recommended that first-time users not partake alone.
- Its use as a psychoactive hallucinogen (at a standard dose) has been noted for producing very little long-term side effects, and with preparation the minor immediate side effects can be nullified and even enjoyed.
- Said hallucinogenic effects are in fact a desired side effect on consumption of the decoction, and can provide mild benefits even after consumption.
- In larger doses (more than ~400 mL at a time), the byproduct can be fatal due to both its purging effect and its mental effects.
- During the period of psychoactive hallucination and euphoria, the user might be partially or entirely comatose, and notably can be affected afterwards from their experience.
Use of Bia'axijye predates many historical records. As the K. yazhe vine has spread across the galaxy with the advent of space travel, so too has this beverage found its way across the galaxy. Commonly used in more esoteric circles as a ritualistic drink, its use is purely recreational, as it requires ingestion for its effects to take hold. These effects usually only last 2-6 hours, leaving only minor lingering effects, and of those most are usually and exclusively emotional in nature.
Due to its somewhat uncommon use yet unregulated status, it has been more of a 'word of mouth' substance than most well-known drugs (deathsticks) or the average black market drug (such as spice). It is more likely to be found as part of a 'spiritual awakening' ritual than in a smokey bar in the bowels of Coruscant; as a fairly 'natural' drug with simple and limited effects, it is simply outclassed by contemporary recreational consumables.
