Private Behind closed doors

Aboard The Instigator
Admiral Squesha stepped into the turbolift off the bridge. As the doors closed she input her destination. The turbolift hummed as it traversed her vast ship, down to the lower decks. When it stopped Squesha emerged into the engineering levels. Walking quickly she went further into the bowels of her ship. Finally she reached where she was going, a maintenance corridor so remote only those who had access to the full blueprints and patience to read them would have found. There she found her contact waiting for her.

"I see you were not followed. Excellent. we may begin."

The faint lull of humming electronics and pulsating generators filled the corridor with an ambiance that Eirys felt comfortable in. A Liann industrialist from Halquarn District, found in Lianna City, they were the head of a new Santhe Corporation-- revitalized and resurgent in a new unprecedented era at the beginning of the ninth century. Turning her sombre, almost tired gaze away from the ceiling to the voice, Eirys settled her gaze on the Quarren.

"Go on then, Admiral. How may I help you today?"

"Go on then, Admiral. How may I help you today?"
Squesha cleared her throat.

"As you know this meeting never happened. It is off the books. Now to business."

She activated her holoprojector, revealing a middle aged man in an admirals uniform.

"This is Admiral Aesin Barlach. At present he commands the Ninth Fleet. I believe he is working against me, as whenever I conduct engagements with him I suffer several malfunctions and breakdowns in command. I believe he is trying to sabotage my career. I need you to investigate him and report back to me, then we can plan further actions."

She paused.

"I can pay you well for this."

Corporate espionage was not something Eirys was unfamiliar with. Indeed, from her experiences thus far with Vūm, it appeared that the non-profit had established ties and interconnected networks through a host of a dozen organisations located throughout the Outer Rim systems. Such information had been a guiding force into how Santhe Corporation intended to operate in the new ninth-century had it's period of decline and near ruination before it's revitalization earlier this year funded mostly by her associates and colleagues found in the Halquarn District in Lianna City.

Eirys turned her gaze away from the hologram to look both ways down the hall. There was a sense of trepidation as she looked around briefly for signs of a trap. The Quarren was suggesting a plot against an established military officer, and an admiral no less. A high offence that would result in criminal persecution. The idea of ending up in one of the ICD's factory prisons made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. But there were no signs of the ISS or anyone else watching or listening.

She turned to look back at the hologram of Admiral Barlach, and to Squesha.

"Would you be willing to support a refit programme in the Confederation's naval forces in exchange for information?" Eirys inquired as she worked out how to use this situation to her advantage.

"Santhe has been developing a new Aegis line for the TIE fighter series. Upgrades that would significantly improve the technology of the starfighter corps in our armed services. If a programme were acceptable for refits of TIE models, I can work on your man."
