Beginning Horology

Jaxton Ravos

Mindwalker of the Outer Rim
Circarpous V, known to the locals as Mimban. From orbit the planet seemed strange, there was a density to it's atmosphere. Scanning attempts showed only what he expected to find. Jungle planet with an abundance of life forms. Even then the signatures were feint, as if something were interfering with the scanning. Xelor sighed. Here he was at the edge of Primeval space, about to descend on a world for a hunch.

It's much more then that Xelor. There are crystals here, crystals you will need.

"Can you be any more vague? Why can you not just tell me what I am looking for rather than guide me toward some mystery?"

There is a great difference between what I can and should do. No man of strength was made through coddling Xelor, always remember that.

"And some people say the Force is blessing." Xelor scoffed as he took the helm of the ship and began to take her down. As he passed through atmosphere the vessel began to shake, and unlike most worlds kept shaking. Turbulence was to expected when entering the atmosphere of any planet, but this was something different. Pulling up on the controls the horologist attempted to lower the speed of his descent, though it was all for naught. An energy storm had just begun to fluctuate, bolts of plasma unleashing through the skies. A bolt struck first at his communications array, second at his engines, then third in the middle of his ship, tearing a hole throughout his vessel as the air began to grow very thin. Everything went black as the ship continued to plummet into the jungle surface as Xelor lost touch with reality . . .

"Gaaahhhhhhhh!" The man screamed, not unlike a woman in pitch. There was blood, blood and scrap metal everywhere. Xelor's ship was toast, and his clothes were spoiled by the presence of that nasty crimson color of human life. He could feel the stickyness of it betweenn his body and robe. His stomach began to turn, and continued to turn until he was granted a second taste of his last meal. The stench of it was foul, and he could see it sliding down bent metal towards his body. He needed to move, and quick.

Rising to a stand the horologist met a swift bump to his head, finding the ceiling of his ship had been lowered at least a meter. Stuck somewhere between a crouch and a stand he looked around his surroundings and saw no clear way of exit, nor any hope for repairing his vessel. A sigh escaped his lips as he thought of the promises he'd made Akure, promises he wasn't sure he could keep any longer. Let alone the pay the debt he owed to Intergalactic Banking Clan.

"Why did you send me here without warning me of the energy storms? Do you seek to send me to my death?" He cursed the Force and it's terrible directions.

It is not my job to keep you alive Xelor. Only to show you the path to empowerment.

"I could have died!" The man screamed.

And perhaps you should have for your folly, but instead you live this day. It would be a grave mistake not to learn from it.

"There is no pleasing you." Xelor said as he examined himself, stifling back another round of vomit as he spotted blood. "How am I going to get out of here?"

I don't know. I can think of at least six ways I'd get out of here, but it all depends on you doesn't it?

"Well . . . I'm a Jedi now aren't I? Or a Sith. Or something like that. I have a lightsaber, that should help me."

That antique you bought off of hbay? Better hope it works.

"It will work." He said as he fumbled to his belt. "It has too." He whimpered as he pulled the cylinder off of his belt. A quick motion of the thumb and the device let out a snap-hiss before emitting a gentle hum. Finding the nearest wall he took a deep breath and then thrusted the beam of energy inside it, surprised at how easy the blade penetrated through the hull of his starship. He then pulled the blade down, left, up, around, until he met with his original stab and a person-sized hole was made. Putting his shoulder to the cutout he pushed with his legs until the hull dislodged from itself, letting him find an escape into the open jungle.

The hot, sweaty, fog-filled jungle that showed no signs of civilization. It seemed this would be quite the long day.
