STRENGTHS
  • Rip and Tear: Even the simplest Lightsaber made for genuine field use can cut through almost anything, save rare or Alchemized Materials, and of course other Lightsabers. They are omni directional, and nearly weightless save for the powerful gyroscopic effect when active that takes skill to learn how to work with. Barab Ingot powered Lightsaber blades generate dramatically increased cutting power on all conventional materials and slightly increased cutting power on all typically Lightsaber resistant materials (to the point even Cortosis Weave Materials should fear it's bite), though Alchemized Materials retain their typical resistance still. Barab Crystal Lightsabers are often so powerful they are much less prone to breaking against Synth Crystal Lightsaber blades than other Natural crystals (Though there is still a chance, however reduced), and even sometimes possess the same chance of breaking ordinary Kyber Lightsabers as Synth powered Lightsabers have.
  • Deflector: Most Lightsaber Blades have the ability to deflect blaster bolts or even, in some cases, with the correct training, upgrades, or both, reflect them back upon their source. Long time users of particular blades may learn to manipulate the blades incendiary effects while deflecting, imbuing deflected shots with additional incendiary effects
  • Fight anywhere: Both Ancient and modern examples can function in space
  • Attunement: Attuned crystals may become potent tool for meditation and responds much more easily to the user as time moves on, especially in duels against other opponents. It may also become much easier to sense and manipulate with the Force, Specifically Telekinesis, Or it May Channel or grind Force Lightning easier.
  • Variety: Basic Barab Crystal Lightsabers generally come come in just 2 forms, due to rarity or power requirements:
Standard Blade
Long Handle Lightsaber

  • Rep Maker: Even Millennia after it's introduction, Lightsabers and their exotic variants are still near universally respected and feared. How you use it is up to you, but if you do and let the Galaxy see it, you'll have a high chance of getting a reputation for better or worse. A Lightsaber or Great Lightsaber with a Barab crystal is fuel for countless legends
  • PC--Friendly: The sub has been made specifically Semi Unique OOC so that players can have as nice and neat a sub as possible that allows them to get into Force User Role Play so they don't have to spend hours hunting Wookieepedia and just use a Barab Crystal Lightsaber or Great Lightsaber and pass this sub out as reward loot for stories and quests or as a starting weapon for new Force Characters. They are also depicted as often ornate IC
WEAKNESSES
  • Cortosis: Most Barab Lightsabers will still shut down if exposed to pure Cortosis and must be reset to be reactivated
  • Sonics: Sonic Projectiles typically bend around ordinary Lightsaber Blades
  • Slugthrowers: Solid ammo typically melts when hitting lightsaber blades, potentially causing splash damage and making bullets extremely difficult to defend against
  • Paddle Beams: Paddle Beams typically bend around these Lightsaber Blades
  • Force Voids: Most Lightsabers will typically shut off in Force Voids
  • Slow: The Blades may generate more cutting power , but are often significantly slower to swing than normal due to the increased gyroscopic power generated by a blade with such a crystal, as well as often necessary internal parts shielding increasing the weight even of Shotos. Also, deflected shots imbued with the blades for incendiary effects travel only one quarter as fast as a typical blaster bolt, allowing plenty of chances to dodge
  • Modifications may affect performance: Altering these "common" Barab Lightsabers Power Cell, Lens, and Emitter may make them excellent for some situations but weaker in others, and these weaknesses and strengths grow more or less pronounced given the variant of Lightsaber one is using. The Variants of each Lightsaber itself have a wide variety of pros and cons each if found IC, and due to its nature, it cannot be used in all varieties of Lightsaber without serious compromises in performance and practicality. Also, due to the intense power, they also need to be repaired more often, even without modifications, as parts tend to wear out quicker, and often require internal shielding for it's parts.
  • Acquisition Difficulty: There is a Reason there aren't more legends about flaming Lightsaber blades. The Crystals that power them are found only on one Heavily irradiated planet. All Barab Lightsabers not on Barab itself are in only the most obscure tombs if not built by the player, and locating a Barab ingot should be an especially tedious, time consuming task to execute IC when building it on ones own if it's not already an heirloom. When it comes to Barab Lightsabers, it's actually easier to find it in a tomb or take it from some npc that has it, than to locate a free crystal given the circumstances.
DESCRIPTION

Lightsabers have been in use for thousands of years by various Force Orders and come in many forms. The Lightsabers using Barab Crystals are among the most feared due to their dramatically increased cutting ability over normal saber blades. Often found on a Force User's person, they are often tied to that individuals very being, and can be located in ancient tombs, vaults, or taken off the slain bodies of their owners. Can come in any color.

Rarer than most Lightsabers, Barab Blades are typically the source of local legends on far flung planets concerning ancient, magic swords of terrible power, producing a flame like effect in the blade when active. They are typically heirloom weapons passed down from parent to child, or found in only the most remote, secured locations, often filled with deadly traps protecting them. To wield a Barab Lightsaber is a sign of status even among elites, and a savvy owner may even choose to deliberately conceal ownership in consideration of "Doomsday" Scenarios. It is almost unheard of for even one constructed in modern eras to hit the Black Market, and will often be the centerpieces of special auctions when they do, due to not only the greater cutting power but tendency to have more ornate designs for their hilts. Since the Bryn'adul's attempted extermination of the Barabel, Lightsabers with Barab Crystals have gain increased importance as Cultural Relics to surviving members of that race, and will often pay up the nose for one to be returned home.

Barab Lightsaber blades live up to their legends, being among the most powerful type of Lightsaber one can encounter, and among the few things that can equal their great power is the challenge of acquiring or crafting them IC

A excellent sub for members needing to pass out super rare loot in dungeons or from powerful opponents, or even to use themselves depending on how it's acquired IC
