Classification: Rural town

Location: Tabaqui, Southern hemisphere

Affiliation: 50% Salacia Consolidated, 50% Local Tribal Council

Population: Small, roughly 1,800 residents live in or around the town.

Demographics: 85% Human, 10% Mirialan, 5% Various

Points of Interest:

-Central Market : Hub of the village. Here a local can find foodstuffs, clothing, general goods and more. Vendors have stalls within the building, selling their wares. Younger and more eager vendors work with the salvage vessels that enter the area, finding willing crew members to bring them exotic imported goods to sell. These items are typically higher than locally sourced goods. Here one will also find an intricate bartering and trade system in place, known only to locals who have been here their entire lives. Several vendors have also began to take credits as Salacia’s presence grew in the sector.

-Terraced Farmland : Much trial and error occurred before the first settlers to Baloo Village learned how to work the hilly land. Terracing the hills made it much easier to grow their crops, as each family unit in the village has their own plot. Those living as farmers have cut and terraced the outer reaches of the village, growing various grains and vegetables for the local area. Tabaqui has little history in the way of agriculture and many of the farmers found in Baloo Village are the first of their kind in generations. As a result, many locals from other villages travel to be educated and tour the farmland.

Local Village : Various parts of the local village are a sight to behold. Beyond private family homes, small businesses dot the hillside, most using technology considered ancient by galactic standards. Small-scale textile manufacturing can be found on the outskirts of the village, run by a small family that had been milling textiles on Tabaqui for generations. A watering hole with various on-site made ales and liquors is a popular spot for both locals and those coming in for company work. A herbalist can be found, along with a metalsmith and various types of carpenters and masons. In between the village of Baloo and the next village roughly fifteen klicks away, a rock quarry can be found. There is no claim to this, Tabaqui natives come and take what is needed back to their residence freely.

Description: A remote village tucked away on the hills of a mountain range location on Tabaqui. Houses are wooden with shingled roofs, carefully placed on the hills to help prevent mudslides and foundation issues. Roads leading into the village are hard packed dirt, while in the village center various collections of stones and hard packed soil are used as streets and footpaths. Located off the beaten path from the old cities found on Tabaqui before the Gulag Plague, and are less susceptible to raiders and gangs, especially due to its elevation and terrain.

History: Up until recently, Baloo VIllage did not exist in the southern hemisphere of Tabaqui. It was only when Salacia Consolidated started to scout the area to put a manufacturing and refinement plant did talk of a small town begin. After speaking to locals in surrounding villages, Salacia was able to make a deal with the locals that allowed them use of semi-mountainous and hilly land, having little use for the area. It was understood between the tribal councils and Salacia that their growth would not extend beyond the mountain range, wanting to leave Tabaqui unspoiled as possible. As a small plant was built , Salacia began to recruit locals for various jobs within the facility, creating a problem of where the new workers would live. Due to their plight during the Gulag Virus, resources were extremely scarce and the planet remained all but untouched. Not wanting their employees to be homeless, Salacia donated materials for buildings, allowing the locals and the tribal councils to come together to build a village near the facility.

As the facility grows, so does the village. Salacia continues to donate to the village as well as build various structures that are to be used as a common space.

Intent:To flesh out a frequently used location in RPs
