Once part of a fearsome band of Sangnir space pirates that were wiped out, Shinja Joka found himself trapped in the Nether for several decades. Regretting his life decisions and the fact that he had been turned into a vampire, he "stumbled" upon a source of balo mushrooms. He found that consuming them helped curb his vampiric hunger, at the expense of his Force ability. It would also cause him to frequently hallucinate, though this was not that big a deal when stranded alone.
Upon escaping the Nether, Shinja decided to grow his own balo mushrooms and look for a way to use them in a more practical way to negate his vampirism. He found that chopping them and mixing them with dried Uneti tree leaves created a particular blend not unlike tabac that was quite pleasant when smoked and inhaled. The Uneti leaves helped counter the addictive and hallucinogenic nature of the mushrooms, though it could still cause hallucinations in those not used to it or had naturally high midi-chlorian counts.
The blend yielded a pleasant aroma that was completely unique to each person smelling it. Spices or other ingredients can be added for flavor or extra kick as a narcotic.
