Legends say of a mighty weapon from ages past. This weapon struck fear in the hearts of millions with it's precision, lethality, and the destruction it wrought. This weapon was the ballista. A mighty siege weapon that tore through the walls of fortifications with ease. The ballista was a major inspiration for Koensayr Manufacturing's latest project: the Ballista-class, a mass driver cannon with incredible stopping power.
The Ballista-class is a cannon consisting of four barrels, a pair on top of another, that fire simultaneously, greatly increasing it's ability to pack a mean punch. The cannon fires duranium slugs filled with a deutrium and baradium-357 compound. The slug, being made from duranium, an extremely light metal, while also being propelled by a sequence of electromagnetic fields upon being fired, travels rather swiftly and the compound within it, causes the slug to explode upon contact in a vicious flame. The cannon itself is only capable of turning 75 degrees (0 being in the direction the ship is facing), limiting it's offensive potential. While the cannon has four barrels from which it fires, it's actual fire rate is rather slow. This is due to the weapon overheating in trials and prematurely setting off the explosive ordnance.
