Ball Room Blitz

Using the cover of the nebula Averin expertly stalks the transport ship. It was a luxury liner for taking people with far too much money around the galaxy to see unique and interesting celestial sites. Such as the previously mentioned Nebula which looked like a rose unfurling in the middle of space. This particular rose had radiation instead of thorns though that radiation was hiding the Lotus, which would be a thorn in its own right to the cruise liner.

Things had been going well for Averin and Lola. They'd smuggled some guns to Falleen and made a tidy profit. With that money, they'd hired on a crew of respectable, for pirates, scallywags. The kind of people you could trust so long as you paid them and who couldn't be bought by others until you started to miss payments. Which is the best you could really ask for, the respect to wait until you couldn't pay them regularly before they sold you out, that was loyalty!

"Deploy the boarding ramp."

Averin calls grinning at Lola as he prepares to burst from the nebula right into the cruiser's path. The batter ram boarding ramp extends from the front of the ship and he diverts power from the sail generators to the shields. Then he slams forward on the impulse engines rocketing out of the nebula. Just as he predicted the cruise ship was right there and there is a spark, a whine, a crack, and then the boarding ramp pierces right through the side of the civilian ship piercing its shields.

The cruiser had some auto turrets that begin pouring on fire but the Lotus's shields would hold up for a few minutes. Long enough for them to get aboard and turn off the turrets. "Alright, no casualties if you can help it men. We don't need to be known as butchers, that just gets the law motivated to come after us." He calls as he puts his helmet on, he looked rather dashing all kitted up in his new armor his families weapons on his belt. "Ready love?" He asks Lola as they head down to the boarding ramp airlock, only those in space suits would be coming with.

Lola wanted a front row seat to just how the boarding of the luxury liner named, The Jewel of Seafah - perhaps it had begun its journey on Pydyr - would go. While they’d been on the Lotus II for mostly joyrides and mundane travel, this was the first time they would witness what it had been designed for - completely overcoming a ship in order to loot it.

Watching with fascination from a viewport, the kiffar woman winced as the boarding ramp pierced the ship, causing a thunderous rumble through the Lotus. Once the noise of the liner cracking and breaking died down, she noted the excited murmuring of the crew.

No casualties, she heard the Cap’n say and suddenly she recalled that during their Falleen arms deal, Lola had slipped up and gotten herself caught in a firefight between two disparate Falleen criminal groups. She’d shot a couple of them, staying true to the An’Arach’s actual customers, but she’d since heard a rumor that there was a bounty on her head.

And as forgiving as Averin was time and time again, she had kept this tidbit of information quiet from him, both afraid of his disapproval and not wanting to put his life in jeopardy.

“Or bounty hunters,” she added, pushing a strand of hair back from her heart-shaped face and fidgeting a little. She jammed her helmet on her head, adjusted the comms link that would keep her in touch with her husband throughout the entire operation, rose and said, “Ready as I’ll ever be.”

She was nervous, but adrenaline would soon take over and hopefully smooth the anxiety into more of a determined focus.

One of these days, Averin was going to sit down and have a nice long talk about the frequency with which she wandered off to cause trouble without him. It was like every time he turned his back she vanished, didn't tell him where she'd gone, and then weeks later some new trouble she'd caused would bite them in the butt. Eventually, she'd learn he was more upset when she didn't tell him things rather than when she messed things up. Not today though.

The airlock cycles, opens up, and the vacuum of space yawns. Averin races ahead with his jet boots right through the hole in the ship they'd caused. While the rest of the crew catches up he hooks up an air shield. It would seal the breach long enough for them to open a blast door and close it behind them without them having to drain more and more of the ship of its atmo.

Once everyone is in he activates the bubble, their slicer cracks the blast door and they slip inside. Or rather, fight there way inside since a group of security personnel is waiting for them. Both of his family's weapons are very lethal but he'd loaded his left gauntlet with nonlethal stun rounds. Raising his fist he fires off the gatling gauntlet at the men as they move in taking the galley apparently.
