- Phrik- The core material that went into making the hilt of Azureheart is phrik. Because of this reason it is highly resistant to other lightsabers. The phrik that went into it's creation also lets it be lighter than the average lightsaber.
- Adaptive- Azure Heart has a hilt that allows it to be adjusted to the fight. With a half-and-a-half length hilt, it is able to be easily used with a single hand or both at once. The adjustable knob also means that the blade can range from a length typical of a one handed blade to that of a hand-and-a-half blade. This means it is not hindered in close quarters as badly as it might be.
- Water sealed- The Azure Heart is water sealed. This keeps it from being shorted out when submerged under water or in situations with high levels of humidity. It also allows it to be usable under water, if the need is ever present.
- Cortosis- Azure Heart can handle many things, but it is not able to deal with cortosis well. If the blade ever strikes a cortosis coated item then it will short out. The short is temporary but every second counts in battle and can easily get the user killed.
- Range- Azure Heart is a close-quarter weapon, so naturally is weak to range. While blaster bolts can be deflected, slug rounds give the user very few options on defense. The same is true for more flexible weapons such as whips. The weapon's defense against ranged weapons are entirely dependent on the user's personal skill for these reasons.
Being a former Jedi, Tristram had to build a lightsaber of his own. After obtaining his crystal, he build the hilt of the saber. This involved shaping phrik to form the backbone of the casing. Inside all of the ligthsaber components are safely held so that they can do their job with little fear of an opponent's saber cutting them. Around the phrik casing silver was shaped and engraved to form the outside layer. It is for no other reason than decoration but sports symbols recognizable as being a mixture of Pantoran and outer rim. The Pantoran ones as well seem to be of nobility for those who are more versed in the culture.
Outside of the base structure, Tristram made sure the saber had a few features added to it. The first is that is it completely sealed against water so that it can not be shorted under water and also usable there. An adjustable nob was added as well so that the length of the blade can be changed on the fly to suit the needs of the current engagement. The last of the special features was that the blade can easily swap out it's crystal and power cell if need be. This feature was added in case either act was needed for some reason, such as preventing an opponent from using his saber against him.
Azure Heart is one of the few things left of Tristram's Jedi days that he values. The crystal was obtained from Ilum and at times feels as if the hilt around it is as cold as the ice of it's original home. It is hard to say if this is real or not as the moment anyone notices the sensation it is gone. The other reason he values it so much is the thought that went into it for him. Each of the symbols is a reminder of his family. The engravings in the silver are as permanently engraved into it as his memories of his family are for him. It also reminds him of his master as she was the one who taught him how to properly use it. For these reasons his saber is more valuable than his own life.
